Question, when a renter is killed on a rented machine does the owner go to the family for compensation ?
1 million percent they ask for money....do you think they will just suck it up? they were not insured and im pretty sure the renters will want money before bodies can be released to families. I had an accident and was hassled for money even though the guy in the car was insured and insurance was paying for bike repairs as his fault even then i was still hassled for money even though my leg was fcuked and i couldnt walk....i had to get the police involved just to get my passport back!!! and then still wasnt easy.

The truth is in the middle....to obtain a driving license in Europe is an overpriced, overregulated business. Here it is just not enough.
What puzzled me is the fact, that you can ride any bike with one license. So you pass the test on you Mio Automatic and can immediately ride a Big Bike. At least there should be some kind of age limit or you should be only allowed to drive a big bike after you hold the license for a certain period.
Anyway TiT
It's the same for cars here. I passed my test driving a little automatic Honda City and noticed on the back of my shiny new Thai driving license that I was now legally allowed to drive a minibus! Worrying, eh?!?
So sad to hear about these two young guys but they knew the risks. Maybe it was questionable that they were able to hire such a big bike in the first place but no-one forced them to get p*ssed or ride around without helmets.
My condolences to the family...
MCL
hold on.....in uk i believe if you pass car driving test then you are allowed to drive up to 11 seater minibus.....there only a little bigger than a 4 wheel drive vehicle like Toyota fortuna etc

3 Italian men, Thai woman arrested at drug party in Pattaya
Pattaya, Chon Buri: -- Police arrested three Italian men and a Thai woman at a drug party in this seaside town less Friday night.
They were arrested at a rented room in Southern Pattaya at 15 minutes after midnight. Police found 0.3 gramme of crystallised methamphetamine and 20 gramme of marijuana inside the room.
The tourists were identified as Davide Migliorero, 38, Davide Tomasi, 28, and Caroselli Loca, 31.
The Thai woman, Orwan Juminorn, 24, said one of the men took her from a bar on Pattaya Walking Street, where she works, to the room.
They were charged with having narcotics in possession for abusing.

Get ready for more of this! When things are tough the cops get going!
Bloody extortionists! Same happened to my friends when they refused to pay an "extra fee" to the hooker... she called someone and the cops showed up.
The bloody shit was planted... not enough to get you locked up but enough fo rthem to get money out of you!
Seen it too many times now!
They will be released soon when they pay!
Really 3 Guys 1 girl.. what was she going to do with them in the room? Have dinner?
Dinner? maybe she went for a 3 hole sandwich?..........but seriously it will cost them a whole lot more now its hit the Press.
-
Cmon credit where credit is due.....the police found the only drugs party that was going on in Pattaya that night, there must have been a lot of detective work and man hours gone into this operation and the great haul they found is worthy of National press especially as it happened in such a family orientated and cleancut Pattaya.........im amazed something like that could even happen in Amazing Thailand as drugs are highly illegal arent they!
-
Ive also seen few turn and go the wrong way up the road....this could happen for days, weeks or even months to come as people have been using it for months as a 2 way road so i believs its gonna be a dangerous road for months to come.
Also i dont see how this is going to ease the traffic off of sukhumvit rd as if i coming from bangkok to rayong then id still much rather go through Pattayas sukhumvit rd than this so called bypass which has more junctions/traffic lights than sukhumvit has so why the hel_l would anyone use it?
-
If this is true then all i can say is what a wanke_r he and the others are......they gotta get there beer money from somewhere but thats ridiculous. I like the video idea as thet will really show them up and might even put a stop to this happening a lot more.....dont let him catch you videoing!!!!
-
Sorry my mistake ...it definitely is one way.....dont know why i thought i see traffic lights......anyway still gonna be a nightmare to cross 2 bypass roads, a railway track and then go across Sukhumvit too......its gonna be a right pain and a definite accident road with so many small junctions along it....aint gonna be much of a fast bypass....also im guessing to get on the overpass/bridge then you will have to go up the one way then uturn to come back and get on that one! im guessing the cctv is so they can record the accidents then send them off to some of those tv programs and get some money.." worlds worst motor accidents" or such like.
-
Have you noticed that they are putting down road markings (white direction arrows) near several of the junctions of the two new "local" roads that run either side of the rail road tracks, indicating they will be changed to one way roads?
The road running east of the tracks has markings on both sides of the road pointing south, and the the road running west of the track has some markings on both sides pointing north.
They have also moved some of the road signs at junctions from the west side to the east side as they are pointing south.
In the meantime, my friend nearly had a heart attack when I drove on the east side road and all the road arrows were pointing in the opposite direction.
There is little doubt what is going to happen, and it will be an excellent improvement when implemented.
The question is: "when?"
In the meantime expect even more mayhem and accidents.
I suppose even when implemented there will be many Neanderthals in pick-ups and motorcycles who will insist on driving the wrong way down the newly designated one way roads.
i thought same as you but i think ive seen traffic lights on either side of new road junctions which would mean not one way...as i said im not 100% sure as aint been up and down that road ..only across it. It wont be much of a bypass if just one way as those wishing to go to Bangkok will be on the old road but whatever happens its nit gonna be good for me wanting to go out or come back as will traffic backed up due to traffic lights....it all ready gets backed up quite far getting to sukhumvit down soi khao talo now and especially at peak times

12 cm is for the basic flat ceiling with just enough room to put light fittings and electric cable......they are not allowing for steps etc......mine has 12 cm then 2 steps of about 12 cm again around outside of room so that means most of ceiling is 12cm but if you really wanted some steps then they could put after although they normally have an idea as they go along but if you aint there or discussed then its not easy to tell them how you want it....i drew pics and measured and watched and they still tried to do it wrong, i have learned a long time ago that you must be there if you want it correct.

Mr Evgeny Viktorov, a 28-year old Russian male, and his Russian girlfriend, were arrested inside the Kasikorn bank, located at the Outlet Mall on Thepprasit Road in Jomtien, on Wednesday afternoon after allegedly trying to exchange fake British banknotes for Thai baht. Police were called by bank staff after the pair had attempted to exchange a total of 80 British banknotes, with a value of about 80,000 baht. Officers took the pair back to their rented house in Soi Ngern Plub Wan where police uncovered a further stash of British banknotes, all of which turned out to be fake and increased the overall value to around one million baht. Mr Viktorov allegedly told police his girlfriend had found the money hidden away in the house about a week ago. The pair had been renting the premises for nearly a month. They helpfully suggested the previous occupants of the house must have been British and may simply have forgotten to take the fake banknotes with them when they moved on, leaving Mr Viktorov and his girlfriend to believe they had struck something of a jackpot. Police are not convinced by this explanation and intend to undertake further investigations before determining what course of action they will pursue. At present the pair are occupying a jail cell, where it's just possible the female is hoping to miraculously uncover a gold seam.

HAHAHAHA.........good one, he found them in the house..........the tv news said he got them from a friend in Russia. What the <deleted> would a Russian have clean crisp new GB notes for in any case........i suppose he thought was worth a try but it aint been very long since the thai forgery notes case.
He should have taken it to one of the independent money changers as im quite sure a lot of them dont test the notes.....oh well better luck next time.

hes not shy thats for sure but not sure i like the comedy teeth and wigs etc, just a little childish maybe for an adult audience......and i think he thinks hes funnier than what he is, but dont we all!! but we dont all go on tv!
Whats his story anyway, seems hes lived Thailand years....did he win the lottery in Scotland?
-
im guessing hes just another fcuiking idiot..............too much yaba or suchlike, we seen loads on the news before on balconies ranting like looonies.......or that other scandinavian baldie who was walking up sukhumvit rd that got on the news a short while back......im not even sure they piss test them the next day, i think they just let em go!!

This ha.s been on my mind for over a year now.
Sometmes i feel guilty and sometimes just angry with myself.
About a year ago.last time i was in Pattaya,i saw 3 young farang guys, bash an elderly farang man up in ne ar the PN gym in a back laneway.
I had noticed these young louts,i think australian, riding and stopped on the road as the i presume european old guy started to walk across,i heard one of them say something then they all started laughing and the old guy said something back, they the young louts followed him into the street i was walking into and then pushed him up against a fence and punched him in the body . they were laughing as they did this and then all 3 holding him whilst the blue singlet wearing one double punched him.
on seeing this i stopped and the young guy with his shirt tied around his waist,no shirt on,shouted to me that i was "chickenshit" and i quickly walked fast away.
Two of them were quite muscular, tattoos, and one wearing no shirt tied around his waist.
I have continual flashbacks of this,i didnt know who to call etc, there was only me in that laneway,i didnt know what to do,i cant fight and am not in good condition.
Would it have helped if i had reported it anyway? has anyone ever phoned the emergency number?
sounds like you had no option as they probably would have bashed you too.......there are a load of w ankers like this in the world. They probably thought they were so brave..<deleted> idiots. I myself have been beaten to a pulp by 3 idiots who feel brave in a group, they werent so brave when i done them over on there own.....too many people tend to get silly when in a group, but i dont know how they could bash an older guy like that......whats the point!
Dont know how you could have helped this elderly guy, maybe wait around corner till there gone and help the old guy is about best i can say for you to have done. Not much point in ringing any authorities here.

Fortunately, there is still some sanity amongst civilized communities regarding excessive motorcycle noise.
AMA's position on excessive motorcycle noise
Since its inception in 1924, the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) has maintained a position of strong opposition to excessive motorcycle sound. The AMA has funded information and public relations campaigns in support of quieter motorcycle use, and was the world's first motorsports sanctioning body to regulate and reduce the sound level of racing vehicles.
The AMA believes that few other factors contribute more to misunderstanding and prejudice against the motorcycling community than excessively loud motorcycles. All motorcycles are manufactured to meet federally mandated sound control standards. Unfortunately, a small number of riders who install unmuffled aftermarket exhaust systems perpetuate a public myth that all motorcycles are loud. Efforts by regulators to rein in excessive motorcycle sound often miss the mark by singling out motorcyclists with ordinances and laws that are unfair, impractical and unenforceable.
No single segment of the motorcycling community--riders, event organizers, retailers and distributors, original equipment and aftermarket manufacturers, law enforcement and the safety community–-can single-handedly solve this problem. Although there are other sources of excessive sound such as loud cars and trucks, booming car stereos, poorly maintained generators, and whining leaf blowers, motorcyclists have a responsibility to be part of the solution. Shifting blame and failing to adopt responsible, voluntary practices will only result in greater prejudice and discrimination against all motorcyclists, including excessively rigorous state and federal standards, more expensive and less attractive motorcycles, the reduction of choices in aftermarket products, abusive enforcement of current laws, and other measures that will negatively impact both riders and the motorcycle industry.
Based on its opposition to excessive motorcycle sound, the AMA recommends the following:
All motorcyclists should be sensitive to community standards and respect the right of fellow citizens to enjoy a peaceful environment.
Motorcyclists should not modify exhaust systems in a way that will increase sound to a level that is offensive. This includes the installation of unmuffled exhaust systems.
Organizers of motorcycle events should take steps--through advertising, peer pressure and enforcement--to make excessively loud motorcycles unwelcome.
Motorcycle retailers should discourage the installation and use of excessively loud replacement exhaust systems, including unmuffled "straight pipes."
The motorcycle industry, including aftermarket suppliers of replacement exhaust systems, should adopt responsible product design and marketing policies aimed at limiting the cumulative impact of excessive motorcycle sound.
Manufacturers producing motorcycles that meet the appropriate federal standards should continue to educate their dealers and customers that louder exhaust systems can decrease the performance of motorcycles.
Law enforcement agencies should fairly and consistently enforce appropriate laws against excessive vehicle sound and other sources of undesirable sound.
The motorcycle industry and the safety community should educate customers and riders that excessive sound can be fatiguing, thus impairing good riding skills and judgment, making riding less enjoyable.
The AMA and its Board of Directors wholeheartedly endorse these recommendations and the Association will continue to advocate for responsible behavior on the part of its members and all motorcyclists.
all i can say is that the world would be a boring place if everybody was the same!

You my friend are road rage waiting to happen, virility, assaulted, rush of blood to the head followed by violent tendencies toward's other road user's,with all these demon's running around your head, how can you concentrate on your driving, you are not the only road user.
You my friend are wrong. I've been riding these streets for over 3 years and have never assaulted anyone yet...in fact I've never assaulted anyone out of road rage in my entire life.
The comments were made tongue in cheek to make a point.
how would anyone know the comments were tongue in cheek?
At the time they were written they were made to attract response from die hard bikies who can only see things their way.
Now you know they were tongue in cheek because I explained that.
That doesn't change the fact that loud pipes can and do cause road rage. Whether people choose to act on their feelings is another matter.
anything can cause road rage if your that way inclined.......an oap driving at half the speed limit makes me angry and is dangerous but im not saying ban all oaps off the road coz they make me angry.......thais that never use there indicators......ever, can cause road rage.....etc etc, loud pipes rattle your cage.......at this rate no one should be on the road !!

i think its a roid rage he is getting more than a road rage but he might not admit to that. Lucky for all those bikers that Tropo dont go to Bike shows as he might be enraged and beat up all the thousands of terrible virility lacking attention seeking thai/farang noisy bike owners.....i bet they would be real scared.
I think if you aint a biker or a petrol head or you are boring or old then you wont like noisy Harleys or anything noisy for that matter. I like to see the faces of those anti bikers that screw up there faces as a loud bike passes........i could understand if it was a horrible noise like the trucks or the under powered cars with stright thru exhausts but the Harley rumble is unbeatable.
The harleys exhaust is only really loud at full throttle and most Harleys around here are only pootling along so i find it ok.......maybe i didnt get enough attention as a child that liking/wanting a noisy harley is the only way i can feel like a man........jesus,gimme a break!!
I like fast bikes, fast cars, noisy powerful bikes, noisy high powered cars.....according to the experts here then my virilty is shot and im insecure and need attention.....lucky im in Pattaya then to get my fix .
I guess Harley owners like a bit of attention but its for the bike not the owner.......they spent so much money that it would be nice for someone to notice it!!!!
Lastly noisier bikes are safer on the Pattaya streets as the idiots racing around dangerously do give a wide berth and other road users do notice a loud bike when normally they are oblivious to other road users......its not an excuse for a loud exhaust but it sure is a bonus of having one.
Also to the moaners out there ... a bike passing you is a few seconds, you cant tell me you have never sat in a bar/disco that plays superloud music and that probably could cause ear damage!!
You claim the sound of a Harley is great, I say it is noise pollution. The trouble is that we don't have a choice when you start revving your engine...everyone must hear it. If you were 20 years old, I could understand it, but as an expat it's pretty obvious you have virility issues.
exactly what i said, you are either a petrol head or not......you are not!
Dr.Tropo i assure you i dont have virility problems(if you want you can send your girlfriend to check then it will be "pretty obvious" i dont ) but maybe in my head i think im still 20 ....i will grow up in my own time and moan at loud harleys when im 30 or 40 in the head, maybe.
Meanwhile id like to invite you to a Hells Angel meeting so you can discuss all the virility problems they have, im sure theyd be interested in your naturally high testosteroned views.

Passed foodland at 10 pm and they were stiil playing water in front of the entrance. Some other places on pattaya klang also.
But the most rediculous thing I saw was last night in soi Khao Talo where some guy was playing songkran by using a high pressure cleaning machine.I was in the car so he couldn't harm me but he was lucky he was at the other side of the road because I would have driven my truck over him for sure.
hey its all in the name of harmless fun, those pressure washers only have about 30psi.........would only knock you off a bike a few feet so wheres the harm

I have never in 5 Songkrans thrown or squirted water at a motorcyclist, but I see it all the time and think why? Why do these people insist on riding their bikes? The water chuckers will not change - so you have to.
P1ssed now so feel free to flame away
ermmmm......i aint bothered this year to join in the so called fun,but a few yrs ago then i had to go on a bike to get into town to play so how do you suggest i get there...walk, no chance. we dont all live within a few 100 m of central pattaya but if i did live inside then i would walk for sure.

When i signed up in ofice at carrefour there were people complaining about it going down.....i should have took notice and left there office !!!
