  1. basjke, he is the owner Jack Daigle.

    Fair assumption Brit. :o

Sorry but I think this is Mr Daigle

And that's not the same person as the one in the picture from pattaya one

sorry basjke but is same person Jack...........perhaps you need a new set of specs!!

  2. I have just posted this in answer to another question :

The best pool chap in Pattaya is a Thai called Khun Bee (can speak English) 081 781 2719

I can personally recommend him too........i contacted him after seeing your post and he has now completed my pool....nice guy, can speak english well which really helps and price ok and im very happy with the job he did.

  3. I got my lawyer (Thai) to do it and she didn't even charge me! I have known her for over 3 years so it was legit, but I am sure she would say that she knows you for a small fee. Alternately you will need a UK professional (doctor, lawyer etc) who happens to be on holiday.

i think the form says a british passport holder has to do it so i dont know how the thai lawyer was accepted, it will be pretty hard to find a Uk Professional here.....im in Pattaya !

  4. hello, yes its for UK passport hence looking for a shop that specifically has done it right first time before, ive got the rules on the pic and any old shop can take a picture but it has to be correct everything for the Embassy to accept and im applying by mail so dont need any hassle..........while im here i will ask if anyone else applied and who did they get to sign the back of photo and countersign application form..will anyone do??

  5. Need to renew my passport and need a proper one done, so where is it possible....its gotta be 25 x 35 mm they say and the visa run ones seem to be a little bigger so if you had one done in Pattaya let me know where.

    thanks

  6. Another member reported it took one month to complete the process of getting sole custody. But of course it will depend on the court also. Some are bussier then others.

If they don't want sole custody, then it is a different procedure. You then have to legalise the child as yours. If you are not married being on the birth certificate is not enough, you also have to be the one who registered the birth at the amphur. If yu ddn't do that yourself then you are not considered the legal father, as anyone can name you on the BC as the father. Only when you registered the birth yourself you acknowledge that you are the father.

Normaly when the child is older then 7 this can be done at the amphur, if younger you will have to go to court.

I personally registered the birth at the city hall and amphur although amphur didnt give any paperwork but city hall gave certificate alll in thai ofcourse but with my name in thai as the father.

i guess the court thing is then to legalise it but 25k is a bit steep just to got there and get a bit of paper .......the baby has just been born so i dont expect she can point me out yet.

To be honest its probably easier and cheaper if i just fly to uk and get a year from hull, than deal with all this bullshit, they make the rules and then just do what they want anyway.

Il visit the court and see what they say..maybe give the judge 10k under the table and get it on the spot!!! worth a try anyway.

  7. It depends on what immigration want from you. Proof you are the legal father or proof that you have sole custosy. Although the first should be enough, some offices require that you have sole custody.

Being recognised as the father can be done at the amphur, although soem require you will go to court if the child is very young. For sole custody you will have to go to court. The court procedings will take about a month.

Im on the birth certificate and done everything i can so far but jomtien require i go to court , they will accept nothing less. I just need to know what they require or what the procedure is in court......you say it takes 1 month.......is that to get a court date or is that after ive been court that i get some letter/document?? Has anyone here done this yet as will make it easier for me to do the same?

Why do i require a lawyer? immigration told my girlfriend that it costs 25k baht and he had a lawyer i could use... i bet he has!!....and if i did it with someone else then would take about 6 months...<deleted>!

I dont think they want proof of sole custody as the new rules just say that extension is for taking care of child, which is what i will be doing and dont want/require sole custody......we will probably get married but i dont like immigration telling me to do it to make it easier for them!

  8. Right ive been to immigration at jomtien and the only way im gonna get this visa extension is to goto court and do whatever i have to do there to get proof im the father and will take care the baby forever.

Has anyone gone through this ordeal who can tell me the best way to proceed. i presume i just got to sign something in front of a judge, why would i need to pay expensive lawyer fees for that and how long does it take to get a court date for this, of course i wil be going to the court to ask but just wondered who has done it yet. thanks

  9. How good is your earth (second floor condo), if you have galvanised pipes they should make a pretty good ground.

It's possible that the pipes are hot from another source, check the voltage between your ground and the taps.

I would be surprised if the water pipes are galvanised and suitable for carrying an electrical earth for the entire run from bathroom to the ground outside, I would not trust them without seeing the entire run. Difficult unless you monitor construction. Are there building maintaince risers that you can look into - see if pipe runs are plastic/metal?

Is the shower still giving a shock while it is not powered or not running? (even disconect it's electrical supply and check again)

i had a look inside shower box and saw it had earth wire.... After changing the shower we discovered the earth stops at the circuit box so it doesnt really have an earth and renter was still getting a buzz type shock. After a couple more electricians came we ended up buying a 2m copper rod to earth just the shower, i thought this would solve the problem...no

Have you proved that the earth wire that disappears into the wall/conduit at the shower end is fully connected through to the circuit box? I have seen wiring in Thailand that looks nice in the junction box - but turns out to be a 5cm stub that is just tucked into a conduit that goes no where and is for decoration only.

Is your 2m earth rod in soil that is not too dry, is it doing it's job.

You saying that you have replaced metal pipes with plastic and the shock remains: I'm wondering if you are getting the shock via 'hot' water, is the pump that is pressurizing your system faulty? I would expect that people encount a shock when showering, maybe not notice it? Wouldn't hurt to check the pump.

    --------pause--------

I'm thinking that maybe your earth rod (and or it's cabling) is high impedance and that the earth connection between the shower unit and the circuit box is where the fault is. If you disconnect the earth from the shower unit does the shock remain? ( I would test twice - once disconnect at shower end and test - then reconnect that earth and test with the earth removed at the circuit box end.)

What else is earthed via that circuit box, I'm thinking fridge, air-con unit? Fairly easy to confirm the shower fault is still there - then unplug each other device in turn and recheck the shower for a shock. You can do this without trying to explain the process of elimination to a Thai electrician.

    HTH.

i guess what im really after is a phone number of somebody that can finally sort this out as the average builder/maintenance guy cannot sort and neither can i.

It seems the water could be the conductor of the electricity , i dont think anything else is earthed back to the box.....the earth from box to anywhere was missing till i had about 20m of wire and copper pole added,i didnt see where the pole went as wasnt there but guess its in dry earth ifhe actually put it in but i guess it actually doesnt work and as the person is closer than the pole then they get the shock.

Maybe il have it rewired to try and fix the problem or if anyone can supply me with a pone number of a specialist here if there is such a thing!!!!

  10. today went to immigration jomtien and was told that we must go to the court to get paper there as birth certificate not enough.......he said the government made this rule???!!! cost is 25k including his lawyer , he said easier to just get married.

Has anyone done this extension easily yet with just birth certificate and necessary funds?

Shall i go Bangkok with the certificate , my lady has a house just on outskirts......will they want me to go to the office every 3 months as i dont fancy driving up there everytime, the idea of getting the extension is to make things easier.

    More advice welcome.

Jomtien is full of crap. There is no such rule. It's just their local policy.

Yes quite a few people have gotten it.

Give Bangkok a try. Remember you may have a wait period while they consider your application. That could include a visit from them or the police to check that you all are living together.

After you get the extension approved you could just make your reports using your Pattaya address.

i think youre right, its just a money spinner...they must have staff meetings and talk about how they can get money out of farangs...and then come up with an extra rule that fcuks everyone over and gives everyone a share...lawyer,them and the court!!!

i cant think of any other answer to it.

if i do it at bangkok i dont really want to hang about at her mothers waiting to see if they visit, that would be like torture....maybe il just get married to save all this <deleted>.

  12. Hi, i have a condo(2nd floor) i rent out and over 6 months ago the renter reported he got an electric shock from metal handle for water supply to shower, we had it installed by electrician(haha) ages ago, i had a look inside shower box and saw it had earth wire so thought i would just change the shower as was oldish and solve the problem. After changing the shower we discovered the earth stops at the circuit box so it doesnt really have an earth and renter was still getting a buzz type shock. After a couple more electricians came we ended up buying a 2m copper rod to earth just the shower, i thought this would solve the problem...no.....still getting shock and no thai guys any idea what to do next so i thought i would change the metal water supply tap and the metal hose etc all to plastic so the electric current would be stopped.....doesnt cure the problem but thought it would save electric shocks.......wrong......they have now reported that they still get a shock from the small metal part in centre of plastic tap and the metal tap at the sink.....i have no idea what to do next, dont wanna kill them but had 3 or 4 different workers have a go. where can i find someone who would be able to help, i dont wanna kill my tennants, the condo maintenance guy aint got a clue and condo management not helpful as its not them getting a shock!!!

Any advice welcome, im guessing its nothing to do with the shower and that maybe a live wire is getting to the water supply near my room , nobody else seems to be having a problem in the building.

  13. I think its just thai bull s h i t again, they dont wanna do the paperwork so send you somewhere else or maybe he was looking for a payoff and my friend never offered. He has his name on birth certificate and everything legal ,correct etc.......i like the answer that he should ask to speak to some one higher, thats a good way to get the cold shoulder from them.....they would just say go away and maybe not even as politely as that. Maybe when its my time i will go to Bangkok as my lady has a house just outside but then will i have to go to report there every 3 months? and the birth certificate will be done in Pattaya.......so probably problems. I like Thailand but sometimes its like banging your head against a brick wall, they make the laws/rules then dont stick to them. i think il just do the done thing and pay over the top as seems the easier way hence why they make it difficult.

  14. I am planning(or was) to apply for a visa extension on the basis of being an unmarried father .......i will have all the paperwork necessary but my friend went to apply at the helpful immigration office in Jomtien and was refused and told he needs to get the court paper to say he is the father etc. He had all the required paperwork in order, registered the baby at the local amphur,he went to immigration with the mother(his long term girlfriend) and the baby so now hes going to have to go to court. I dont know how that works? do you have to get a lawyer? Is there a long wait to get a court date? what do you do when you go to the court? it seems like just another hassle and they should have give him the extension without all this bull. Anybody else gone through this yet? :o

  15. Hi,

what should i be paying for a rectangle pool approx 6m x 4m with nice drk green or dark blue tiles, skim system, sand filter ,salt water cleaning , maybe 4 jets on one side of the pool for jacuzzi type effect,1m to 1.5 m depth. I would like an idea of a normal price and not the farang rip off price....im not rich or i wouldnt be asking costs. I have some builders that say they will build and tile the pool at labour cost of 60000 bt but it doesnt include the plumbing(they only build houses so unsure on this) i gotta pay materials ie tiles, concrete pumps etc etc, a pool guy told me if they build it then he will do all the plumbing including materials for that and 2 pumps(1 for the 4 jacuzzi jets) for 125000 bt. Is this good??? thanks

  16. Well my friends....I live at Somboon Sook (behind Carrefours) in a 2 bedroom town house..I have lived here 2 years and last week was the 2nd break in, albeit this time unsuccesful.

The gate padlock was hardened steel, so they broke the weld on the clasp, the fromt door had a padlock which same again they broke the clasp, then they broke the anti theft Australian made fitted internal door lock..then they opened the door and my Yale House alarm went off and they scarpered!! The inner steel door was not broken into. (all windows have alarms and are screwed permanently shut.)

Anyhow I dont see what more I can do...I am going to get a Thai ridgeback dog, mainly as a pet, but I think they would just kill the dog!! To be honest I am thinking that maybe a Condo is my last option?

Any constructive advice would be welcome. :o

The alarm did its job and they legged it so wheres the problem, get bigger welds now may help but there is nothing you can do to stop attempts to steal but they got nothing. moving to a condo may make you feel safer and in reality it is safer but doesnt mean a neighbour wont force your door,if the condo has a good security camera and recording system then should minimise as much as possible.

  17. The avenue 2nd road has california wow which seems to be the closest gym within walkin distance to you.......then you have tonys on 3rd road opposite exzyte and tonys soi 16 off walking st,and another tonys nr corner of 3rd road and south pattaya. If you wait till august then should be one in the mall next to you.

  18. when you send a parcel to uk or usa do you have to put special customs/tax decleration on it....i sent a small parcel by registered airmail and guy didnt put anything on it apart from little sticker for tracking and it wasnt till after that i thought you had to fill out some form saying whats in it.

what will happen to it,will it get sent out of thailand or back to shop or just lost in space???? anyone had this happen to them, the post shop i sent it from has been open a long time, why didnt they tell me to do this....they should know how to send more than me!!!

    anyone???? :o
