  1. I'm not sure where to put my querry, please move it if it's in the wrong place...

I know that a farang - man in my case - can't own property in Thailand.

So you buy it through the trusted GF. Provided she doesn't run off with it, what are my options...

If she's already married to me, can she still buy property?

If not, what happens if we decide to marry AFTER she has bought the porperty?

If yes, what happens if, after our long term standing marriag, she obtains a non-Thai passport? Will we be forced to sell?

Anyone know anything about this? Looking forward to hear!

  2. When I was last over my G/F took me to the internet cafe and proptly replied to e-mails from three different accounts on behalf of three different girls.

Did she tell you that they weren't hers? Well, you may be right.

Lately I came onto a computer in Khao Sarn Road where before me a BarGirl had used her email account. Typically she didn't log off, and so I read through her account. She had only 5 (yes, five only!) boyfriends mailing to her at the time, and one of them was a married farang who was about to leave his wife and children to come to her...

I was so rude to retrieve the password from Yahoo and mail it to him...

  3. i give her a 300 b 1-2-call every month to yak yak with family and frinds

I don't think you're stingy at all... I am fortunate to have a girlfriend who knows how to deal with money, and we're able to share all the money I have. As in, we both know the number of the ATM card. But I know - from experience - that she is somewhat of an exception.

As to the quoted remark, if you want to stay in Paradise forever, by her D-TAC. I hope I won't be kicked out of the forum for saying this. I expect I will be if I tell you why. :o

  4. I'm sorry, but whatever way you choose, it makes you a criminal.

Would you like your own children to be taught by someone who came her for sex, spend all his money in Nana and now pretends to be a teacher? It may not apply to you, but it apply to quite a lot of "teachers" here.

Because I finished a TESL/TEFL certificate which - I agree - isn't an awful lot, but I don't have a bachelors degree in Watermanagement I am a criminal? Hm... See, with this combination I would be able to teach legally in Thailand. Whichever field I have a degree in, as long as I have at least a TESL or TEFL certificate I can obtain a work permit. And I think that is strange.

Ok, I agree that you expect standards for teachers, and as I don't fit in the rules, I will probably have to leave this great country sooner or later.

I am a teacher because I love it - I love teaching, I enjoy the job, and I believe I'm not a bad teacher. Not the best in the world, sure.

I didn't come to this country for sex, I don't spend my money - paid by students on wages around 8000 baht a month - in brothels and bars. I try to live a respectable life by Thai standards. I am respected by the Thais around me.

If I was the only teacher I could afford for my children, I wouldn't mind them being taught by me - yes, as you stated it, a criminal. Because what is it really that I do wrong?

  5. It has lately come to my attention that immigration will systematically visit all 'teaching institutions' to check if their paperwork is correct. In otherwords, they will come to check degrees (and a 'Khao Sarn Road' degree will not be accepted), work permits and the like.

Has anyone heard of this as well? Has anyone's 'teaching institution' been visited yet?

Does anyone know more about this? Will it litterally be every school in the country, or will they only visit institutions which employ a lot of foreigners (such as ECC, AUA and the like)?

    Thanks for any information!
