22 hours ago, Thaiwrath said:Firstly, I don't need any advice of the pros and cons of a Pink I.D. card for a foreigner, but interested if any other member has been told the same.
On Tuesday I went to get my annual renewal of my extension of stay at Khon Kaen immigration, and had the same documents I have provided every year since I became eligible in 2010, Passport, TM7, Bank Letter showing adequate funds, copy of bankbook, Condo rental contract and all necessary photocopies of passport information.
As I am single, do not own property, and have my passport and Government hospital registration card as bone fide Identification documents, I have never bothered to apply for the Pink I.D. card, and never in my 15 years here been asked to produce one. However, the officer at the first desk kept on asking me for my Pink colored I.D. card, and as I repeatedly explained that I did not have one, and have extended every time with all the necessary documents requested, he then told me that next year I will not be granted the extension without such a card !
I don't really want to bother my landlord to go through the process of applying for the card, and with having 2 totally legitimate I.D. documents, one which I carry everywhere, I fail to see why he insists on me getting a card, apart from his typical "I am in charge and you will do as I say" attitude.
I know I will get the "get a pink I.D. card" comments from the usual suspects here, which I will ignore, but I am asking for confirmation that this is not needed according to the written law here.
Yesterday i went with my wife to Khonkaen immigration, same papers as every year, you need 1 years statement from the bank, so off we go get that.
Back at immigration, cannot do extension without yellow tabian ban, no problem says my wife here it is.
Where is your I.D. card he asks my wife, so she showed him her government I.D. card, he did not like that.
He give my wife some grief... Why you work government and marry farang, why you not marry Thai man.
Other years immigration officer comes out to our pickup take my photo, not yesterday, lazy sod said go take your husbands photo bring it back to me.
Every year they want something different, next year who knows what they will dream up.

What nonsense if they have done wrong they should be suspended without delay.

Strange that we are seeing this just 2 days after 11 navy officers are under investigation for involvement in drugs.
Used to be good taxi driver stunts, now navy officer stunts.

In some cases, operators allegedly recorded a higher price for rooms to get a bigger payoff from the government. The subsidy scheme offers customers a discount and returns the difference to hotels or restaurants.
Well well who would have thought that anybody would stoop so low as cheat the government, shocking thats what it is shocking, take them out in front of the firing squad.

Out of interest how much did it cost you in the end to comply satisfactorily with HMPO's ridiculously over-fussy passport photo requirements?
No idea mate, wife did it but never actually told me the cost.

Just now, Pilotman said:
Not sure that's universally true. Any decent photo shop knows what is required and can deliver for you, so long as you don't live in the sticks I guess. I have never had that problem and I don't know anyone who has.
Well clearly you did not read my post on another thread about renewing passports.
My wife had to go to the photo shop 3 times before they did it correctly, even with the paper from UK passport office regarding size, measurements.

But it is 77 for Thailand as a whole and only 72 for issan.
They don’t smoke tobacco nearly as much as in the south from what I observe but I have no statistics to back that up.
Where do you get that figure from for Issan?
In this village recently 3 people have died, lady 93, 1 man 91, 1 man being cremated today 83.
I think you are just dreaming up figures to suit your thread.

What a load of b++++ks, why has a hospital got involved?
Just for publicity, many thousands of children in the same situation, just quietly going about their studies best they can, without all the attention seekers getting in on the act.

Just be thankful that you can manage 2 miles, some like me can only dream about doing that.
Many times i dream about going for a walk then wake up cannot even get off my bed.

I guess it doesn't matter what you believe. He confessed and they have some drugs confiscated. Haha. He must be guilty
How can you say he is guilty?
You know nothing about the case ( same as me) yet you claim he is guilty.
You ever been locked in police cells here? Probably not.
Many, many people have confessed to crimes here, when they were in fact innocent.
