  1. Why not just get another girlfriend who doesn't have children by another man?

If she's not good enough for the father of her child, she's not good enough for me.

This has to be the dumbest thing I've ever read on the internet. Congrats!

    :o:D:D:D:D:wai:

Your "girlfriend" has a few does she?

  2. One person claims they are charging "darker skinned gentlemen" 200 baht and everyone assumes it's true. Obviously if Tiger Woods or Will Smith tried to get in they'd be falling over themselves to get him inside and keep him inside. But there is obviously a big problem with Nigerian scammers in the area who might frequent a bar not to buy drinks but to scam the gullible white folk too scared of being seen as "racist" to tell them to get lost. So they have a very sensible policy to try to keep such people out of the bar. Relax, we're not in politically correct little old England anymore.

  3. Palm oil is saturated, so stays fresh much longer than most oils. The newest wiadom says that palm and coconut oils are much healthier than most oils if not hydroginated. :o

The newest wisdom doesn't say that at all. Cranks have been claiming magical health benefits of coconut oil for decades without any proof. It's true that hydrogenated oils are the most unhealthy. The most healthy oils are low in saturated fat and high in monounsaturated fat, olive oil being the classic example.

  4. You would only need to worry about the nutritional deficiency of white rice if your diet was devoid of other foods containing fibre, vitamins and minerals. It's better to just eat whatever rice you find tastes nicest and make sure you get your 5-a-day of fruit and vegetables. Brown rice isn't a panacea of good health and it tastes grim.

  5. The government would be better off doing something about men walking around groping women without their consent, also called indecent assault in most countries but perfectly acceptable in Thailand during Songkran.

  6. I'm arriving at 1010 hrs from Singapore (SQ flight) and then on to HCMC with AirAsia at 1555 hrs in a few weeks time.

I don't fancy a 4 to 5 hour wait at Suvarnabhumi and was planning on a quick dash to MBK (duck soup and sim card top up).

Google maps show the route from Suvarnabhumi to On Nut BTS as passing Ekamai and Phra Khanong BTS stations.

Can anyone tell me if this is correct - or should I stick to my original plan of Suvarnabhumi to On Nut BTS.

    Thanks in advance :o

Just in case you can't make it in time, you can still top up your SIM card and get fairly decent bowl of ba mee bpet (duck noodle soup) at the airport.

I can't understand why the OP would go all the way to MBK just for duck soup and simcard topup. As you suggest, he could do that at the airport or just take a leisurely stroll outside until he finds a duck soup hawker. With the 300-500 baht or so he saves on the taxi and BTS fare he could even afford to eat in a nice restaurant.

  7. Interchange with MRT! How much more convenient do you need?

The expres trains are meant to run NONstop to makkasan. and Makkasan (chosen because there was enough land owned by the SRT) is out of use for most-the combo of train+taxi (do you really think there will be no taxi'problems from there=just the same as at any trainstation)-will take more time and cost more as a taximeter right away. Only the stoping trains-rumourd to styart later-as most underway stations wont be finished-serve both MRT and BTS. The MRT is of hardly nay use for most nornal tourist destinationsunless you fancu another change to the BTS at Asoke=going up to street-going up again-to skytrain

At Makkasan you interchange with MRT at Phetchaburi Station. Of course the train won't take you directly from the airport to your hotel but what airport train in the world does that? You don't have to go on to any street to change from MRT Sukhumvit to BTS Asok.

  8. I have put on a few kilos after 2 months of accompanying friends from western countries to farang restaurants, something i rarely do by myself. i want to by a food processor and make some vegetable drinks for lunch everyday. I know there are a lot of vegetarians here so can anyone recommend:

    A. a good juicer, I see Moulinex in the local stores, good? what model is best or do I just buy the most expensive one?

    B. anybody have any good recipes for vegetable drinks. If not I will just buy some of every vegetable fresh and throw it in. No chemicals etc.

    thanks for any help

The higher the wattage the better. It takes a fair bit of power to blend a carrot.

Wheatgrass juice is all the rage at the moment.

  9. What you "feel" isn't really that relevant, I hope you don't mind me saying. There is a lot of evidence that many fish oil supplements are contaminated with heavy metals, pesticides and PCBs that exceed EU regulations. Who regulates the safety of fish oil supplements in Thailand? Even if the danger of fish oil supplements hasn't been conclusively proven, their safety hasn't either. Are you prepared to take the risk? I'd rather just eat some sardine sandwiches.

Up to you what you want to believe but if everyone took your attitude we wouldn't eat anything.

You wouldn't eat any red meat considering what that has in it neither would you eat any fruit or vegetables unless they were certified organic and even then you would be sceptical as who is to say what is organic and what isnt.

One study has come out and said that some fish oil supplements have potentially carconogenic properties yet there are many brands of fish oil and the preceived benefits seem to greatly outweogh any risks IMHO.

Additionally you could eat tuna or salmon but you also risk contaminants from eating the fish themselves as they may well have high levels of dioxins, mercury etc

There's a difference between eating food and taking supplements. We eat food for survival and enjoyment but fish oil supplements achieve neither. The only reason to take them is their unproven health benefits but if there's as much evidence that they're harmful as that they're beneficial, why take the risk?

There is a lot of information about the levels of mercury and other contaminants in fish and generally speaking the higher up the food chain, the more contaminants. Sardines have very low levels of any contaminants so are a very cheap, healthy and tasty option.

  11. Many fish oil supplements also contain gender bending and cancer causing contaminants.

Could you explain further? Not trying to be crude but your statement is a bit generic and inconclusive. Providing info on subjects of this manner is great but give some reasoning behind your remarks so they have some substance.

Unfortunately at this point your statement can be said will almost all products found in any modern grocery!

Pollutants found in fish oil capsules

Enormous variations in the level of potentially cancer-causing pollutants have been found in fish oil capsules.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) examined a range of the capsules for the presence of dioxins.

The study was carried out in advance of new EU safety limits for dioxins in foodstuffs that come into force in July.

It found that the dioxin level in 10 brands of fish oil and fish liver oil capsules exceeded the new European maximum limits.

In one case the dioxin level was five times the maximum limit.

  12. Why spend the night in Nong Khai? Immigration opens at 7 so he wouldn't get to the Thai Embassy until after the massive queues have formed. Better to stay the night in Vientiane. Also it sounds like you paid way too much to the tuk tuk drivers. You'll generally get better prices negotiating in kip instead of baht.

  13. Have a look at pfizer patient leaflet in the zithromax box available for sale in chemists or prescribed by leading hospitals in THAILAND (Why would i lie???).

    You will see or read:

At the end of the day there are numerous antibiotics available to treat Gon. Just so happens that the antibiotic i mentioned is one of them at a dosage of 1gram........so the information is not incorrect.

The first link you provide specifically states that 1g of azithromycin is not suitable for the treatment of gonorrhoea:

"At the same time, an antibiotic such as ceftriaxone, injected into a muscle, is given to treat gonorrhea..."

You're confusing chlamydia treatment with gonorrhoea treatment. 1g of azithromycin is not and has never been an appropriate treatment for gonorrhea. There was once some experimentation with 2g but this is not currently recommended due to antibiotic resistance.

  14. The advice about azithromycin from dekka007 is incorrect

Bumrungrad and Samitivej will give that in oral antibiotic. IF you read the patient leaflet in the box it says 1g in single dose for urinary tract, gonorrehoea and chlaymdia....

SO not that incorrect actually :o

Point to where in the patient leaflet it says that 1g of azithromycin is an appropriate treatment for gonorrhoea.

  15. D Champ or something like that was what we used on dive boats. But they are very sweet and I think have artificial sweetener or sugar.

Are you sure Nestle water has minerals in it?

    Just stick to Minere!

Minere is owned by Nestle. Nestle Pure Life of course has no minerals.

  16. You don't say what country you are currently in so it's hard to offer advice. If you're in the UK then STDs are not generally dealt with by a GP but by the sexual health clinic of your local hospital. That's why your GP made the awful mistake of giving you cipro (which is specifically not recommended for infections caught in Thailand because most strains of gonorrhoea here are resistant to cipro). The advice about azithromycin from dekka007 is incorrect. The standard treatment for gonorrhoea is an injection of ceftriaxone (into you bottom I'm afraid). What you need to do first though is go to a sexual health clinic and get a swab done because before there can be treatment there needs to be a correct diagnosis.

  17. Don't be so PC. I met many Filipinos in Vientiane and chatted with them and got on great with them but most of them were indeed illegal workers. That's not racism, it's just a fact.

Sorry for being PC, but there are many offhanded negative assertions made at the expense of Filipinos on here so please excuse me for being sensitive on this issue.

Ok, so I understand you spoke to a few Filipinos who told you that they were working illegally, and that's why you said most of them were working illegally. You also must have assumed that all Asian looking visa runners were Filipino.

BTW I'm actually posting this message from the Philippines. :o (another reason why I'm so sensitve)

I think you're confusing me with another poster but I still don't see any negative assertions at the expense of Filipinos in anyone's comments. I didn't make any assumptions about anyone's ethnicity although the Filipino look and speech is very distinctive so if I cared to I think I could guess correctly in 99% of cases. But my comments were based on the Filipinos I spoke to who told me they were working in Thailand on a tourist visa (hence illegal workers). Just relax and don't be so sensitive.

  18. Hi,
yes it was full of illegal workers, mostly filipinos i think

I am not certain that it is a very good idea

to say everybody here that YOU are an illegal worker... :o

There's no doubt about it, such a sweeping assertion is definitely showing Geoffers76 has racist feelings towards Filipinos.

There are many Filipinos living with and being supported by Westerners in Thailand. I'm one example.

Geoffers76 should leave the sorting out up to the Thai Consulate. If they weren't welcome, they wouldn't be here. Thailand and the Philippines have close political and economic ties.

Don't be so PC. I met many Filipinos in Vientiane and chatted with them and got on great with them but most of them were indeed illegal workers. That's not racism, it's just a fact.
