  1. I tried this and it worked but I ended up being in position 150 in the queue. I tried after midnight instead and was position 50 in the queue and had to wait over an hour and in the end they refused to rectify their mistake. This is the current state of AirAsia customer service.
  2. Nothing you just said contradicts what I said. Many yes but it was always a minority. Let's look at a video taken shortly before 2019 of the BTS. How many masks can you spot? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sfWAMvbZlHc
  3. They weren't wearing masks before. I used to wear a mask long before covid due to the low air quality and I was usually the only person on the BTS carriage wearing one. Occasionally there were one or two others and the percentage increased when the media scare stories about pm2.5 increased.
  4. It is actually impossible not to breathe other people's air. But anyone who is worried about breathing in particulate matter that contains viruses can simply wear a close fitting n95 mask. No need to be fretting about what other people are wearing.
  5. Thank you. I'll try that next time. There's also a number you can dial to leave a voicemail message and that sort of fixed the problem (the booking was later confirmed but somehow they got the flight time wrong).
  6. I booked my flight on the website and paid on time via mobile banking but received no booking confirmation. It seems the only way to contact them is through the live chat feature of their app, where you can only talk to a useless bot called Ava. Ava informs me that my booking was cancelled because I didn't pay on time, even though the money has already left my account. Obviously I need to speak to a human about this but the 02 515 9999 number is just a message telling me to use the bot. Anyone know how to contact a human about this?
  7. You should always pay in dollars as you pay several hundred baht extra if you pay in baht. Was it easy to find the baguette vendor? I was thinking of taking a bus all the way in to the city just to get my baguette fix.
  8. If he caught the infection on Sunday it's highly unlikely it would have killed him by Thursday. He could have died of anything. Typical BS scare story that the rest of the world have moved on from but the Thai media is still running.
  9. Bad idea. There are likely to be problems at the airport with Thai immigration.
  10. Thank you. That's very helpful information. Using public transport to do this border hop is definitely not for newbies to Thailand and even more so right now because who knows what's running and what's not running or what kind of fee immigration officers are demanding? Personally, as I live in Bangkok I'll be flying to Udon and then doing the border hop to Laos until more reports come in of people doing independent border hops at the Cambodian border.
  11. The OP was thinking of the potential issues with immigration rather than queueing so perhaps you could shed some light on that. Why did you do the border bounce? Was it for a visa exempt? If not, your experience is not really relevant.
  12. It would be most helpful if you could provide a Google maps link to the place where the vans leave. A few years ago I followed this post: but just ended up wandering aimlessly around Robinson's asking people who didn't have a clue. I also posted on that thread an alternative which worked well for me.
  13. Hotels and apartments will give you a massive discount for a monthly stay. Airbnbs in Thailand typically charge double or triple what you would pay for a 6 month contract. If you're staying for 3 weeks an Airbnb might be a bit cheaper but it's a massive false economy as you've found out with your immigration problems. I've had nothing but trouble with Airbnbs (eg the code to the property didn't work, no stove even though it was in the photos and I specifically asked about it) so don't use them anymore. And yes it's definitely illegal. You can see big signs up in some condos stating which particular laws are being violated with anything less than a monthly stay that isn't in a registered hotel.
  14. It's even worse than described. Prayuth BOWS at Xi who then refuses the handshake. Prayuth looks like such a little lost lamb that I feel sorry for him. Definitely a snub.
  15. I think a better option may be to claim to have amnesia and to have lost your passport and have no idea how you got to Laos and ask your embassy to help you out in getting back home.
  16. Indeed, so I'm wondering what the next "midnight express" would be.
  17. I once heard of some guy who got sued and wasn't allowed to leave the country, so was stuck here for years. This made me think, what are the escape options if that ever happens? Use the midnight express boat and then what?
  18. How are you so sure? Have you read reports or done it yourself post-covid?
  19. The danger is that everyone in this thread is describing their pre-covid experiences. I can't see any reports about doing a same-day border hop at this border post-covid.
  20. They never have with me in the past. Seems to be the least corrupt border crossing.
  21. Your "source" is a link to one of your earlier posts. I think Hun Sen himself is a more reliable source of information than you. He is in fact reporting minor symptoms and has returned to Cambodia. https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/cambodia-pm-cancels-g20-meetings-after-testing-positive-covid-statement-2022-11-15/
  22. I doubt it. "Producing" has a particular legal definition that doesn't include what some posters seem to think it does.
  23. Please stop spreading fake news. Hun Sen has no symptoms according to his own Facebook and all the news reports.
