  1. I'm sorry but I have no idea what that means.
  2. I remember the olden days before Uber and Grab when you could phone a number and a taxi would turn up a few minutes later. It only cost 20 baht. Is that service still available and if so what's the number? When Grab is giving you the "high demand" message at 10:00 a.m. on a Sunday and doubling the fare, you know it's become a rip-off.
  3. I wish I'd gone to this one instead of wasting half an hour trying to find the one in Emquartier.
  4. Good tip. The one in Emquartier was hard to find - need to go to "the C building" fourth floor and it's a kiosk hidden away in a corner - but efficient. Just a bit more expensive than I thought it would be at 1390 to send a document to the UK.
  5. I'm moving in to a condo with a firm mattress typical in Thai condos. It's a high-quality mattress but too firm for my needs. What kind of topper do I need to make it nice and soft? I was thinking memory foam but then I read these make mattresses firmer so now I'm confused. I realise some people extol the virtues of firm mattresses but trust me, I need a soft one.
  6. I see on Google maps what looks like unstaffed service points for DHL. I want to just take my document to a DHL office, give them the address, pay the money and leave. Is that possible? How about the head office at Chamchuri Square?
  7. No one is freaking out anymore. I rode a jam-packed MRT and BTS last week without a mask and no-one cared. The new normal is just do whatever you're comfortable with and don't fret about what other people do or what other people think of you.
  8. It's obvious that Dr Aekkachai has either been mistranslated or misunderstands the law. There is definitely no mask mandate and nothing a minor bureaucrat says is going to change that.
  9. It seems like it's going to be easier to do a visa run to Laos. Is it still possible to apply for a non-b on the same day you arrive in Laos?
  10. So what happens these days? Do you make an application and then get an appointment to come back in two weeks?
  11. According to the immigration website, you need 15 days visa validity to convert a TR to a non-b visa. However, this doesn't make much sense to me as last time I did it the non-b was stamped on the same day as I made the application, so why the need for 15 days? And I'm informed that as long as you're not on overstay, your application will be accepted. So if I turned up to immigration with all my documents in order with 3 days left on my visa, would they accept it or would I need to get the TR visa extended by 30 days and then make the application? That would seem completely nonsensical if the non-b was going to be granted on the same day anyway.
  12. Are they checking people's visa status here? I know you're supposed to have a long-term visa but do they actually check?
  13. The system says my visa has been delivered by email but in fact I haven't received any emails at all from them. I've checked my email address on their system and I've also checked my spam folder but there's defintely nothing there. So what do I do now?
  14. The worrying thing is they want you to upload a bunch of personal and financial documents but we have no idea where they're being processed. Thai government websites frequently get hacked so it's likely all our scanned documents will be sold on the dark web.
  15. Thanks, I hadn't thought of that. If I get it in this weekend the process should at least begin on Monday so there should be no problem getting it back before next weekend.
  16. It's now 1650 on the Friday before a bank holiday weekend so I doubt whacking it in quick will have any effect. Anyway, I haven't booked my air ticket yet. Not everyone likes booking everything weeks in advance. You'd have thought as they're trying to attract tourists they would make things a bit easier. Anyway, thanks. As I'm British and in Britain now I think I should get my visa within four working days.
  17. Thanks, It's four working days (submitting this weekend and hoping to travel next weekend - Monday is a UK bank holiday). Nothing to do with leaving Thailand as I've been in the UK for months.
  18. Would submitting my application on the evisa website four days before departure be cutting it too fine?
  19. Is it before or after your application has been accepted?
