  1. . . .

Which night club was that then by the way? Looked like a nice friendly place to go hang and have few beers. A lot of booze there considering it is a Muslim joint. Maybe they pour tea into beer bottles.

I am guessing it is the CM2 disco in the basement of the Novotel Hotel in Siam Square. Ten years ago this was a great place to mingle and meet willing Thai girls. Now it is the venue of aggressive Russian/Uzbek girls and their pimps, and Middle eastern and South Asians stepping out of their lower Sukhumvit habitat.

Earlier this year many of the working Uzbek girls were camping out in the Rajah Hotel and connecting apartments on Soi , just behind the Nana Hotel. But the 'apartment building' shown in the Nat Geo documentary showed a different building housing the girls. I read an earlier suggestion that this is the Omni Hotel on Soi 4, but this seems a little upscale and expensive for this type of use.

Any idea where the apartment building shown in the video is located?

  2. Any idea as to who financed and started up this latest call center scam? My guess would be a British National as they had the largest number arrested?

I have previously seen a typed 'script' used by an 'investment based call center' that operated out of an office on Sukhumvit Soi 4, along with a list of names and phone numbers from western countries. The operations were run by a Brit who was paid 80k baht monthly, plus commissions.

  3. "TWO men accused of killing Perth travel agent Michelle Smith in Phuket have confessed, saying they attacked her to get $10 to pay for drinks, Thai police say.

Thai police said the men admitted attempting to rob Mrs Smith of $10 to pay for a drinks bill at a nearby bar.

The pair, who were captured on CCTV as they rode the getaway motorcycle after slashing Mrs Smith and friend Tammee Lynn, were arrested in Samutsakhon province, near Bangkok."

Not sure how to interpret this . . . Were the accused killers drinking at the same bar with the victim and her friend? Or were they trying to collect on an unpaid bill? Or most likely they owed 300 baht to a bar, and went after what they considered easy theft targets?

Has anyone seen further details that explain how the accused picked these victims?

  4. The Rail Link from Suvarnabhumi to the Sukhumvit area, and Bell Bus service to Pattaya, has spoiled me.

Air Asia's announcement seems to neglect the poor transportation infrastructure to and from Don Mueang.

Does anyone know of any viable alternatives to taxis for going to the Sukhumvit area from Don Mueang?

    I *&%#& hate Bangkok taxis!!!

  5. Has anyone heard concerns about the train service to and from Suvarnabhumi airport being closed due to flood concerns?

I believe this train line is underground only at the airport.

I took the express train yesterday, Tuesday, and everything was fine. There was no water at all. Not even a mud puddle.

Thanks for the reply. I had read elsewhere that the Bangkok MRTA had closed about 70 entrances to various subway stations.
