  1. In my local Tesco Lotus supermarket there are at least 10 different models on offer with which you can play with, live, each plugged in to a live electronic terminal, so to speak, to enable you to experiment with. They are obviously based at the Thai market sector for whom wish to learn English to a greater degree, but some models are equipped with interchangeable SD cards, for many foreign languages inc eng thai /thai eng. I will be making a purchase soon, as I wish to indulge my Thai further, as I am far too lazy to study, but would just love to be able to order that somtam bpuu thai in a lovely issan accent. Wonder if they have an Issan tone/language dictionary?! Sanook maak maak! :o

  2. I just completed the final step in registering today, though we did the Buddhist thing over 8 years ago.

First, I went to the Canadian embassy and swore an affidavit that I was eligible to marry (1,700 baht). Then I dropped it off at a translation office around the corner and picked it up the next day (500 baht a sheet).

Then, I took both documents, along with a copy of my passport ID page and visa stamps, to Foreign Affairs out near Don Muang Airport and waited 2 hours for processing (400baht a sheet).

Finally, we went to the local amphur and they completed some rather exhaustive paper work, my wife was widowed, they officially married us and that was it.

    Good luck.

Spot on, thank you kindly for your information, the office that you mentioned nr Don Muang is my nearest goverment registrar office and the same location we will be visiting. Thinking about it now, did you require a witness to be present upon signing the papers in the registrar? I understand that this is required by Law in Great Britain, did you have to allow for this in Thailand?

    Very best, DSG

  3. Excellent! Thank you all kindly for your response, feedback and clarification!

*Hi Astral, with regard to the ceremony, we are waiting for a 'good date' for the wedding next year, which will be suggested to us from our local temple. Anyone else with experience of the traditional selection of 'a good date for the ceremony' before? PS_ I shouldnt joke, but Im guessing around the end of the month is quite an ideal date? 555 :o

    Regards, DSG

  4. Hey everyone, well the time has arrived! myself and long term partner have decided to 'thai the knot' (apologies!) we plan to marry next month and have been to our local office with regard to documentation- my question being: Do I need any docs from my Embassy (English) in order to get married here in Bangkok? I heave heard that a letter confirming current (marital/single) status is reg'd for the application, anything else req'd fellas? Please let me know how it went at the office as Id love to hear from your experiences, also I would like to make sure everything with regard to papers is sorted before our appointment soon! Thanks in advance, any feedback appreciated!

    Best regards, DSG

  5. Can't he get 60 days due to marriage to begin with ?

Reading this thread with continual interest, can anyone expand on this 60 days? We will be marrying next month, is it possible for me to apply for 60days at Immigration on the basis of marriage?

    thanks in advance!

    DSG

Section 7.23 of the Immigration change made in October last year allows a 60 day one time (only) extension of stay for those visiting Thai spouse or child.

7.23 In case of entering for

    visiting a Thai wife /

    husband or child.

    The permission shall be

    granted only one time with

    the granted period not

    exceeding 60 days.

    1. Application form

    2. Copy of applicant's passport

    3. Copy of census registration

    4. Copy of the Thai national's ID Card

    5. Copy of marriage certificate or birth

    certificate

Lopburi, as usual, you deserve a pat on the back for your vast knowledge of current up to date visa information, now with regards to my situation I am currently on a 30day exemption, as mentioned previously We will be marrying in November, the question I ask being, would it be possible to enquire as to a 60day extension after marrying in Bangkok (on a 30day exemption)? I am guessing not, as the ideal route would be a non o application in neighbouring countries with documentation to support, but if I can get the 60 day it would assist my timescale immensely.

Thanks again for your help with all of our visa queries!

    Regards, DSG

  7. Hi Fellas,

Just back from Ban Laem today, went with Claudio at Thaivisaservice, everything with the service was spot on, I highly recommend them. We had a nice group of people in 2 vans, enjoyed meeting other visarunners and Claudio was very nice guy to chat with, everything handled excellently.

PS _ I am not affiliated with anyone from the company, just wanted to say what a fantastic service it is.

  8. If one gets married and applies for said visa, does the 40K THB per month combined income have to be taxable income within Thailand? I will be getting my income from Singapore and my wife to be earns less than a taxable salary per month in Bangkok. I understand we need to provide 40K THB per month for at least 3 months to apply for Non O, but we will not be paying any tax to Thailand! Is the Non O reliant on Tax paid? I dont understand this too well, anyone with any experience?

    Many thanks in advance

    DSG

  9. If you get married you can look to getting a non imm O and also extending in country annually with proof of 40k tax paid household income.

That does not legalize your working in Thailand though.

LivinLOS, thanks for your info & comments, interesting note you mentioned with regard to marriage and non 0 visa specifics, I wasn't aware any of the 40K+ monthly income has to be subject to tax in Thailand, as in my case. money from overseas. The Immigration rules state income of/or combined 40K+ per month. Can you or other members clarify this with recent experience?

Thanks again for the feedback LivinLOS, much appreciated :o

  10. I have been perusing the forum for a while now, and wondered if you would be so kind as to shed some light with regard to working in Thailand.

I am currently on a 2nd 30day exemption stamp, with one more available. I would like to stay longer, with a suitable visa non o/non b etc, my situation is that I will be beginning a new job in IT as of Nov 1st, money and remote work coming in from Singapore company. As I wont be paying thai tax, Is there any way that I can legally represent myself and work here? None of the visas seem to fit my situation. I am 31 years old and salary will exceed 55k month, I have a thai partner of 3 years and we intend to register our marriage in the near future. Any suggestions? I would love to stay in Thailand, and understand we can register for marriage and I can obtain non 0 providing 3 months history of 40k+ combined signed and certified by my Embassy, is there any other option available for visa other than the Non o marriage route? Possibly a small business start up?

thank you in advance for any suggestions,

    Best,
