  1. A very successful lawyer parked his brand-new Lexus in front of his office, ready to show it off to his colleagues. As he got out, a truck passed too closely and completely tore off the door on the driver's side.

The lawyer immediately grabbed his cell phone, dialed 911, and within minutes a policeman pulled up. Before the officer had a chance to ask any questions, the lawyer started screaming hysterically that his Lexus, which he had just picked up the day before, was now completely ruined and would never be the same, no matter what the body shop did to it.

When the lawyer finally wound down from his ranting and raving, the officer shook his head in disgust and disbelief.

"I can't believe how materialistic you lawyers are," he said. "You are so focused on your possessions that you don't notice anything else."

"How can you say such a thing?" asked the lawyer.

The cop replied, "Don't you know that your left arm is missing from the elbow down? It must have been torn off when the truck hit you."

"My God!" screamed the lawyer. "Where's my Rolex?"

  2. As always you were correct in your synopsis Doc , I have a small mouse underneath my left eye as a result. Yes she misheard me and insisted on buying a pet rodent for my face.....hic......daytime drinking?  :D

Domestic violence huh. There should be a law against it. :o

    Yeah, it's called "celibacy". :D

  3. Connell told police during interrogation he was unaware that the jars he had bought at a department store in Manchester contained the pills and said they could have been switched during his stopover in Dubai, a court statement said.

What would a 19yo with the brain of a 14yo be planning to do in LOS with 2 jars of moisturizing cream? :o

  4. A Thai casino manager in Poipet said a Cambodian immigration official told him that two of the four Koreans were named on a blacklist in Phnom Penh, which caused Monchata and her friends to be detained for questioning.

I would be interested in finding out the names of the Koreans, for personal reasons. Anyone know? :o

    Here they are:

    [1] Kim

    [2] Kim

    [3] Kim

    [4] Kim

    :D

  5. Eventually the tape worm shows its head as its squirms it's way out of the kids mouth.........lovely !! Then they grab it and pull it all the way out....all 6 feet of it !!

And then they realized that it was the poor childs intestine! :o

  6. Try Kasikorn Bank (previously Thai Farmers Bank). You can open a savings account with an ATM that can be used worldwide (Global ATM) within 15 minutes and all you need is a copy of your passport with the page bearing the visa stamp.

And yes, you need to give a local address which is not an hotel or a guest house.

  7. The rhetoric of this topic teethers on the verge of gross generalization. Of course some people are sure to have made real friends in Thailand.

Thailand is not the only place - good friends are difficult to find everywhere in a materialistic world. It's only relatively easier to make good friends back home, because we tend to meet so many people (outside of work) with similar tastes, language and style.

One can meet as many people in other places, who would try to size you up at the 1st meeting by checking your clothes or other external features of your persona. So, I should never be surprised if when shaking hands for the 1st time with people in Thailand, some try to check which brand watch I'm wearing or whether the pen sticking out of my pocket is a (real) Mont Blanc or a Dupont!

If I'm a good person and my friendship is rejected because I don't wear trendy clothes or drive a luxury car, the loss is certainly not mine.

I know from experience that if one makes good friends in Thailand, they would be some of the best you could ever have! Have you tried?

  8. DPlover,

No offence mean't but your'e trying to advertise an obviously public event on a public forum and yet chose to send details privately only when requested. What's the game you are playing that warrants such secrecy? :o

    MS

  9. Some people make hole careers out of pubic relations!  :D

It'd somewhat beyond this guy. Could you trust a man whose ambition is to own one of those sardine tins. :o

Well, a 2CV is not exactly a p*ssy magnet! But the point of my post seems to have been missed entirely! :D

  10. I must say that the officials at the US embassyin Bangkok are alright. They were quite business-like and also polite the few times I've been in there. Customs officials at US border entry points are much more polite than some customs people in other countries that I've visited.
