  1. Thanks. I searched and think you are probably referring to the large store near the UN Irish Pub. They are on the same street as Mr Beer rentals.

I looked there before and could not find the kneaded eraser but may have overlooked it. Will check again.

Sorry, please allow me to retract any offense. Going back to the OP, what city is he in or closest town/village?

Considering he's said that he's looked at shops in Chiang Mai, that might be a good place to start...

Can't say the Soi, but if were to do a Search, the same Soi which has the "Mr Beers" rental shop has a 2-story art store close by. Bought my drawing pads & selective India Ink pens.

  2. Usually I'll just scroll the timeline when bored, but needed to reply to this lazy excuse. ARTIST! Really, you give a bad name. An <deleted> eraser. "Artistic" people or the real ones don't have to ask such a stupid question avoiding the exploration that defines their minds. Can only guess you're shortly out of school.

Wow we got out of the wrong side of the bed this morning, didn't we?

The wrong side of the bed and uneducated to boot! A "Kneaded" eraser is a VERY different sort than they type found in most stationary shops. There are basically four different eraser types: Kneaded, Gum, Ink, and pencil. The last two are what can be found easily. Gum erasers are a bit more difficult to locate, and kneaded erasers almost impossible until you find a very well stocked art or drafting supply shop. That large 3-floor shop near the UN Irish Pub has a very large art department, and if they don't carry them, I wouldn't even begin to know what shops might!

To the OP; you might try contacting either CMU engineering department, or Chiang Mai Techical College. Both offer drafting programs. Maejo University has a very good art department and may be able to put you on the right track too.

Thanks. Will follow up on your suggestions

I was tempted to answer the first reply with a quote attributed to Churchill, Lincoln and Mark Twain, but decided not to waste the bandwidth.

"It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt."

  3. No, sorry fellow artist; "true" art supplies are rather difficult to find outside of big cities I've found. However, I have improvised by finding a variety of alternative, generic, things to play with. Depends too on what type of art and style you are into. I have found things of use in my studio in Tesco, office supply stores, hobby shops, - and more. Art supply stores only in CM and BKK as far as I know; please let me know if there are real art supply shops around! wink.png

Thanks. I am particularly looking for a kneaded eraser. Could not find un CM the other day either. Will keep searching.

  4. I know better than to ever think that my wife could be wrong, incorrect, or even slightly misinformed.....Pavlov was right, the beatings ensured I now completely understand her infallibility!

One man who really understands the roles and relationships of the sexes.

"If a man is walking inthe woods alone, with noone else around, talking to himself, is he still alway wrong??" Affirmative

  5. I have a few pieces of moulding to cut and meed a mitre box.

Is there any place to buy a simple and hopefully cheap one for small job use? I could build one but don't have any scrap wood around and am a little lazy anyway.

    thanks

  6. yes, 52, I heard it is a very twisting-turning 5-6 hours from Phayao. I inquired, when I was in Phayao and decided not to go after learning the duration of the trip. Phayoa can be done on the way to/from Chiang Rai, very easily. Super good food there; if you like Thai food.

If you're just going to Nan, the best route is 11 south past Lampang to Denchai, then straight ahead on 101 through Rong Kwang and Wiang Sa to Nan.

On the bus, take Green Bus from Arcade. 14:30 departure has VIP seats available which are more comfprtable

  7. I make it 2 liters at time.Just heat the milk hot enough to kill bacteria but not boiling. Add sugar or whatever flavoring you want. Let it cool to just warm to the finger. Add a tablespoon of yoghurt from previous batch or the store. Cover and keep in warm place overnight. I put in the microwave with a couple bottles of hot water. Microvave cabinet only acts as insulation. Next day, all done.

    Easy and good

  8. That second dentist is near the Indian Doctors office.." Maw Singh"

Would there be a dentist in the Wiang Sa hospital?.

i have visited the Wiang Sa hospital once and would only go there in the direst of emrgencies

  9. As far as I know thay all speak English [ and they are all women] I don't understand why they all want to chat when they have their hands in your mouth. Anyway....

Opposite the entrance of the new Nara Hyper Market is good. New looking offices. They do walk ins.

On Mahawong. Go northeast from Devarat Road. Its about 100 yards down on the left. Small old shophouse style building, glass front but modern clinic. I like these women the best. BT 300 for a clean BT for a filling. You can book a time in advance. They do walk ins but you may have to wait.

Up next to the city hall is a childrens dentist. Maybe good if you are a crier.

There are plenty in Phrae but no first hand experience.

Thanks. I live in Wiang Sa so easy to get to Nan.

  10. Any place in Chiang Mai with a good selection of linoleum or vinyl tile flooring?

I look at Global House and they had nothing. Home Pro has a limited selection. Any other sources?

    thanks
