1. A bomb can be planted anywhere and the bomber can walk away to safety. It can be a no warning bomb or a called in bomb using a password.

A suicide bomber, on the other hand, doesn't target buildings or premises but crowds. These cowardly scum don't have enough gall to carry out such an attack, and if they did, where would it be placed?

I am sick and tired of the ranting, ravings and bleatings of these Red leaders.

And then the bloody shits relatives will be lining up for their B400K government handout.......

  2. Why does TV keep assisting in this cover up by Pattaya One?

The people at PO have not answered any of the posts by TV readers in the past 3 or 4 threads on this Headlline Scam!

In fact TV has refused to link all these threads.

Give us Truth or some respect please!!!!!!!!!!

Link the threads and Ask what came first the headline???

Or the Fake warning after the headline???

Mods please WE rely on TV for Real News not selling ads for go go bars like PO does!

Makes me wonder too given that Pattaya One IS the British Consular Representative of the Home Office in Pattaya.....

Do I see a conflict of Interest?????? I CERTIANLY DO!!

  3. Truck Drivers and Bus Drivers operate their vehicles like absolute idiots. They constantly cut off vehicles and motorbikes. They figure they are bigger, so they are first, regardless of the circumstances.

It is amazing though, when they hit or Kill someone. They are always quick to run and hide. It is just a matter of time before they catch him. I hope they throw away the key when they do, but we know that won't happen. If he has some cash. He will get a slap on the wrist, maybe?

My condolences to the Dead and injured people and their families.

The rule of the road when I was here in the 70s was he who gets there first has the right of way...unless the other guy is bigger. The drivers run because they think it gives them plausible deniability...if you did not find me there, I wasn't there.

Driver education is almost non-existent. You can take driving lessons but all that does is get you past the test.

May God and Buddha have mercy on their souls and may he grant some solace to their families.

  4. All the bus drivers race each other to get to the stops first to get the fares.

The solution to this is to sort out public transport employee wages and stop them competing, not asking the drivers to slow down...

That is complete nonsense you have written. I used to have to catch a bus from Phrom Phong to Bang Na intersection to get a minivan to work. The problem is getting a bus to stop as they can't be bothered pulling into the inside lanes. If they were so concerned about fares they would be cutting up traffic to pick you up.

Try to make statements based on some semblance of fact please.

I drive Sukhumvit daily. I see the busses cut traffic off to pull over all the time.

  5. Is that a joke ??????????????? Bus drivers are totally nuts ,they often race with other buses ,they dont give a dam_n about public safety or car drivers. They very often let the people go down or up in the middle of the road.

If you really want to have professional bus drivers, SEND THEM TO LEARN HOW TO DRIVE AND HOW TO BEHAVE AND RESPECT OTHERS..

Everyday on my way to the office I can see those crazy bus drivers behaved like maniacs. Very often I had to put my car on the side to avoid collision with buses. Those guys are DAGNEROUS and I still dont know why the government is doing nothing specially after those accidents reports.

If they were in the US for example, most of the busses and most all of the drivers would be pulled off the road for DOT violations. Most of the busses look as if they had not seen the inside of the maintenance barn in months if not years. The mechanical condition alone would be enough to pull it from service. I refer to only the appearances..inoperative lights and turn signals. Since in the US all drivers must complete a pre-shift safety check of all lights and signals, this would be a terminal offense. If held to those standards, Bangkok would be without a bus service...save the vans.

I further venture to say that most Thai drivers could NOT pass a driving exam in most western countries.

  6. If u leave and re enter before the visa exipres you get the 3 months from date of entry.

So leave end of Nov and ur good till first week in march

That's what I though till I spoke to the border officer this morning. She said that it was the last time I could cross the border now that the date on my entry stamp has overpass the expiration date of my visa.

Is it true ??? What will happen if I cross again ? I had the feeling that she was not speaking very fairly and just wanted to get back to her duty...

    Anybody confirm ?

When you go to do the border crossing in November you will find out for sure. You will either get three more months or you will get 15 days. It is all incumbent on the immigration officer. I don't care how many said they have been there and done that. The usual extension at the border is 15 days (7 if you go to an immigration office) if your other visa has expired. You may get 15 days beyond your original expiration of visa date but don't hold your breath..

  7. Bout's extradition delayed because US withdraws additional charges: PM

Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said Sunday that the extradition of Viktor Bout was delayed because the US government withdrew an additional charge against the suspected arms merchant.

Speaking during his weekly TV programme, Abhisit said the court need to first consider the implication of the US decision to withdraw an additional charge against Bout first.

Abhisit insisted that the Thai government has not and will never interfere in the judicial process of the case.

Seems to me that someone is sleeping with someone else in this case. Just who is sleeping with who is what we don't know for sure.....

  8. "the extradition will get denied due to human rights, and thailand is a country that offers death sentence so the UK will not extradite him."

so what happens to him then ? does he just walk away from it all ?

One should hope that someone in the UK has brains enough to see that alleged scum like this has no dam_n business walking free and ship him back.

  9. If they do decide to go in this direction, then maybe they should do a pilot for a few years first requiring all business operators to provide a thorough criminal record check, maybe through Interpol to be sure that they are clean everywhere, not just at home? (Remember how 'internationally mobile' Pattaya's farangs tend to be. That way we might have fewer rogues selling off-plan properties to gullible foreigners (e.g. a certain 91 storey tower in Jomtien that will never be built), and it may even root out some of the shadier estate agents. If it didn't succeed in cleaning up the business community then there woudl be little point in extending it to retirees and the rest.

They'd also need to decide which criminal acts would exclude a person from Thailand. In the UK there have been numerous reports of people being fined heavily and getting a criminal record just for putting the wrong things in their recycling bins. It just shows the insanity of the UK under NuLab, but surely putting a piece of cardboard into the paper recycling box at 14 Acacia Avenue shouldn't exclude one from visiting Thailand?

The big concern would be the cost. The British Consulate in Pattaya charges around 2000 Baht for a letter notarising your income for retirement extension purposes, something that takes just a few minutes as you have to provide the documentary proof of income and the Consul just signs a form letter once he's happy with your paperwork. If various police forces have to search their systems and provide documentary evidence of a clean record, I can imagine it is going to cost an arm and a leg.

Seems to me a police records check was a required part of the retirement extension process a number of years ago. I also wonder how much of an effect this would have on old Howard keeping his journalistic endeavors separate from his Consular obligations....

  10. BTW The document that the US Embassy provides for Thai Immigration says: The (US) Embassy does not guarantee the contents of my own sworn statement.

Could you please explain that...possibly with a direct quote of what's on the latest Embassy paperwork?

The U.S. Embassy is only notarizing that the person signing the document is you. They make no claims or verification that the information contained therein is true or accurate. If you put false or inaccurate information on the document and the Thais discover this you can 1) lose your visa, 2) be deported and blacklisted and 3) be tried on U.S. FEDERAL felony charges of falsification of documents...same as lying to a government official. Ask Martha Stewart about that.....

  11. Tourist visas obtained in your HOME country can be had in single OR multiple entry variety.

1. Single entry, good for 60 days upon arrival

2. Multiple entry, good for 60 days on arrival then
a) go get a FREE 30 days extension at immigration and after that
B) make a border run and have another 60days. Then,
c) Repeat sub-item a) for an additional 30 days FREE

3. Without a multiple entry visa you will get a max of 2 weeks from immigration or border run.
12.
Remember innocent untill proven guilty .

I for one think they may have the wrong man . I mean if you did what he did , surly you would leave the country ?

What a stupid comment. So you think the suspect's defence in court should be "it's obviously not me because I didn't leave the country". Many criminals saty where they are because it creates less suspicion and because many think they won't get caught.

Agreed! Its called the premise of hiding in plain sight...

  13.
There is a cost to physically dispense the medication. There is also a cost associated with maintaining an inventory. Dispensing medications in a hospital is a time consuming process with alot of manual labour that only adds to the costs. The markups on medication adminstered in a hospital are used to help cover the costs of having a hospital that is open and staffed 24/7. Before anyone flies off the handle, consider this: You know the local pharmacy where you can buy the drugs for next to nothing? Ask them how much they would charge to have a doctor write a prescription, deliver it to the pharmacy and then have the pharmacy prepare one or two tablets to be delivered to your bedside by an RN, who would then supervise the dosing.

The markups referenced in the article are insignificant compared to what patients pay in other countries without a government drug plan. It is not unusual for some drugs in the USA to have a 1000% markup. There are however downsides to having a generous drug plan and France illustrates this best. France has a population that is clueless to the costs of drugs since the drugs are covered in large part by the national health plan and/or by supplementary insurance which almost 9 out of 10 people have. The result is that the French spend more on expensive proprietary brands, bypassing generics, and there is a greater likelihood to prescribe drugs in France then there is elsewhere in the EU and North America. When no cost attaches to something, the option is abused.

Yes, Thai hospitals take advantage of a situation. We know that. It is what happens in this part of the world. Personally, I find it repugnant, but we all know that the private healthcare system is run on a for profit basis. It would be great if there was a public drug plan, but who would pay for it? Does anyone think Mr. Abhisit could get away with raising taxes on his supporters to pay for the scheme?

The main issue with this is that everyone uses blister packed medicines. If they used bulk pack as they do in other countries the cost would come down radically. They would still need a pharmacist to assure reasonable safety. I had heart surgery 2 weeks ago to place a stent in the heart. That bill was over 300K THB. With charges like 110 baht for a pair of non-sterile rubber gloves is a joke. That would buy a whole box. So on pharmacy, they are making big money. But as mentioned the patient has the right of refusal. Try and buy your schedule II drugs like Xanax, hydrocodone, etc., at your corner drug store.

Old news but what can you do?

14. I was here in 71. The Thais were recycling then before it became the trendy thing to do. They developed these diabolical plastic bags that are virtually indestructible...they hold liquids without leaking both hot and cold. How I wish we had something like that in the USA many years ago. Now the Thais still recycle but are not gaining any ground because of these amazingly durable plastic bags. I would be glad to use some good, sturdy, cloth bags BUT (and there always is) I honestly have no idea where to buy them. If someone knows, please PM me....

  15. I don't think there can be reconciliation or peace unless Abhisit and Suthep resign from there current positions.

Too much blood has been spilled, Thais do not forgive and forget.

The Reds have no one to blame but themselves for what happened. The government offered compromise. the Reds refused. At that point the Reds lost face and there was no way they would regain it short of destorying the Kingdom. They are piss poor losers and like a pouting child who takes his toys and goes home, The Reds burned down or ransacked everything in their paths on the way out of town. resignation of Abhisit and Suthep will do nothing to pacify the Reds...if nothing else it would give them more reason to continue to rape and pillage the country.

Personally, I believe Thailand has a long road back form this one and Thaksin should have the remiander of his assets seized to pay for the damages.

  16. The red terrorists are now wanting more. They now want Suthep to turn himself into the Crime Suppression Unit. It's really a waste of time anymore, since the reds are not true to their words. Jatuporn, last week states he will turn himself in to face charges of terrorism. Today it's another dance and song. I'm sure they're look great on the international stage. First Chula, now renegading on each and every word they say. Even the events of April 10th can't be trusted given the leaders propensity for lies.

The red leaders are split on what direction they want the group to go. I recommend they go home since the EU and the US sure as hel_l are not going to interfere.

  17. The International Crisis Group (ICG) said the country must consider mediation help from other nations to defuse the political crisis and avoid a slide into further violence.

Highly unlikely this will happen as Thai 'pride' will be a major barrier to this commonsense idea.

Who will want to be the first to lose face? IMO, both sides have already lost.
