Thailand to end quarantine for some vaccinated visitors from Nov - PM
rudi49jr replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
How can USA be a low risk country? Numbers of infections are going through the roof in many states. -
Anutin praised for getting Thailand off UK's travel "red list"
rudi49jr replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I think it's not so much thanks to Anutin, but much more a case of "in spite of Anutin". -
When you are vaccinated you can still become infected and get sick, that much is true, but the chances of getting seriously sick and ending up in ICU are much smaller. And you’re less likely to pass it on. And that’s the whole point, to minimize the risks to yourself and others around you. That’s why I prefer not to come into close contact with people who are not vaccinated. When it comes to a potentially deadly virus, I just don’t want to take any chances, even though I am vaccinated. Has nothing to do with thinking I’m better than others, everything to do with not wanting to die because someone didn’t get vaccinated.

This is the best that we’ve got so far, the vaccines that are now available. They seem to be doing a good job, and the vast majority of experts seem to think that the vaccines are - relatively - safe. I’m not a doctor, not a virologist or an expert, so who am I to argue? Am I going to risk catching a potentially deadly virus, and/or passing it on to my circle of family, friends and co-workers? Or am I going to take the vaccine and protect myself and the people around me? For me, that was not a difficult choice.

How much money does Fox News (using the term ‘news’ very loosely here) make with their ridiculous and constant anti-vax and anti-mask message? Every night you can see Tucker Carlson cum suis rail against the vaccines and mask mandates and millions and millions of people watch and lap it up. And you know what? Fox News requires all their employees to be vaccinated, or tested on a daily basis. What’s the word I’m looking for here? Hmmm, could that be called hypocritical? Or just insane?

So far, more than 5 billion vaccines have been administered world wide. Did anyone hear of any large-scale problems or side effects? Governments being able to follow those who are vaccinated because they were injected with a tiny little device? DNA being magically altered? Or is all that really happening and being swept under the carpet?

Full force of the law to be used against Khon Kaen masseuse rapist
rudi49jr replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
I was thinking exactly the same thing: bail will be granted once he hands over a large wad of cash. -
Phuket luxury resorts face legal action over illegal land grabs
rudi49jr replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Corruption? Kickbacks? Whatever do you mean? 29 officials, including a Vice Governor! Are they really going to address the elephant in the room in Thailand now? Or did someone not get their cut and blow the whistle on their buddies? -
American man arrested for rape of massage worker in Khon Kaen
rudi49jr replied to Jonathan Fairfield's topic in Isaan News
Good. If he did beat up that woman, and especially if he tried to rape a 12-year-old girl: throw the book at him. -
Thailand’s new tourism promotional slogan for next year unveiled
rudi49jr replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Yes, the most amazing tourist scams you can imagine. Not to mention the most dangerous roads in the world, and suffocating smog in the North all winter long. -
Thai PM orders nationwide crackdown on loan sharks
rudi49jr replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Wouldn’t a nationwide crackdown on all those in a position of power who abuse that power to enrich themselves be far more effective? Like a war on corruption? But then the PM would order a crackdown on himself and all his cronies, and we can’t have that, can we? -
60m Doses of AstraZeneca Vaccine Ordered for Booster Shots
rudi49jr replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Hope for Thailand they will be able to deliver on time. My home country also ordered AZ and most of the vaccines were delivered months past the deadline that was agreed upon. -
Thai Education Ministry Plans to Tackle Teachers’ Debts Nationwide
rudi49jr replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
How about paying them a decent salary? I don’t think that has been raised for 15-20 years, while the cost of living has increased significantly. How do you expect people to survive on the same salary year in year out when prices of just about everything just go up and up? -
Health Minister confident COVID-19 situation will improve next year
rudi49jr replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Next year is still more than three months away! And does he mean by January next year or by December next year? How about doing everything you can to improve the COVID-19 situation as soon as possible? Or would that require actually doing some work? -
Investigation launched into rifle toting cop in Phitsanulok
rudi49jr replied to webfact's topic in Central Thailand
Business as usual, people, nothing to see here, just move along. It’s all just a big misunderstanding, the chief will explain everything once he has come up with a plausible explanation. May be a few days, though, because this is a toughie to explain away. -
Of course this is Thailand, I know very well how the system works here: if you gave enough money you can literally get away with murder. But that’s no reason to sit back and accept it. Things can change. I’m not very hopeful they will, but simply giving up and saying “that’s how the system works” is admitting defeat. So I applaud any and every effort to bring a rich spoiled brat to justice and send the message that even they can go to jail when they screw up.
