  1. Well booked holiday before we knew about the visa probs ,had been on retirement visa for last two years and was planning on swapping to married visa, but didn’t know that the cert expired after time .

if we had of been told to register marriage at amphur years ago we would have ,we got the yellow book and pink id card at that time,so if we knew then we would have done it but no one told us and at that time .

I’ll sort it by just going back to retirement visa ,pay a couple days overstay ,come back on tourist entry and get retirement again.

    Thanks all for the help

  2. Tried to change from a retirement visa to marriage visa and need Kor ror 22 as our marriage certificate is from Australia,it’s been translated and stamped, but it’s over 5 years old now and the amphur won’t give us the the KR22 .

so now I have to get it done again but the agent guy says it will cost 12k baht and take weeks ,is there a faster way ?
They gave me a 2 month extension on my visa and we will fly out for a holiday on 10th of May and will involve me overstaying about a week.
so do I have to book in with the Aus embassy first and book a time at the thai consulate for these ? I think years ago we just turned up and got it done .

if I put the money 800k back in the bank and wait three months can I get back on retirement visa?
seems easier than married visa .

  3. Busses in the south are shockers,I caught one a few years ago from Surat Thani to phuket ,never again.bus was near three hours late ,then there about ten of us had to sit on the floor in the aisle all the way ,even though we all had paid for a seat on air con bus.I was lucky and got to sit on the hot motor for hours wedged between the seat armrests .some of those busses should not be allowed on the road .best wishes to the injured and I hope this might cause a shake up of the industry and get some safety checks put in place.i heard Nakhon chai air wanted to start up down there too but they wouldn't let them , they would have got all the business ,there safe ,well maintained and change drivers every few hours and drive at the speed limit .

Remember, you do live in a developing country, things aren't always going to be like they are back home, fezman,

True mate , but I'm talking about the NCA bus line that runs to Isaan ,it's great ,new buses and safe ,there better than in my home country .and I just got back from a bus ride in the Philippines ,that was real rough .we do have better transport here.

  5. You're probably in Maha Sarakham province?

I know a guy who's been giving out calendars, with a picture of his family + Taksin, every weekend for the past month.

From what he told me, he's trying to give them out in every district of Maha Sarakham (I think he said just the larger villages and amphur's, I don't think he's been going to every single village, as he's got a mon-fri job so doesn't have time to do them all).

yer I am in maha sarakham prov ,and horning him up got a few laughs ,no big deal Barry, and i would never deface anything with the monarch on it , Jesus I'm not mental.
  6. Hi

Just wondering if any one else got there Calander yet and how far and wide these are going .

Our village 40 ks east of KK ,every house ,shack etc got a nice new Calander with taksin and family on it .

Mine is on the wall with devil horns on it now and it looks great. Thanks ol moon head .

  7. Unless a person is a temporary resident or a tourist, 3G is basically useless as a primary IT provider. If you live in the Kingdom, then a direct line to your home is the proper solution.

yer well mot were we live in Isaan ,phone and Internet here dead for the last 4 days again ,same again a week or so ago .

Without 3G I would not be sending this .

Tot are shit and never works here .ps 40 ks east of KK.

  8. Also kbank are stupid , we went there for a loan ,my wife could show income of 40k per month from her job in Oz ,she also has assets in Thailand of more than 3 mil .we wanted a loan for 1 mil and they said no, get your mum to get a loan ,does she have a small shop or something for income ?

I think these bankers are mental ,they didn't want to look at statements from Oz bank and she has half a mil cash in her acc here . I said stuff ya we will get the money from Oz .idiots.but yer your right they would rather live in box and drive there new car to shops to show off than live in a decent house .

  9. some great advice from everyone here ,thanks a lot ,i have plenty to think about now.

Still think I am leaning towards putting up a small concrete structure now so i can get power on and then turn that into a bathroom when I build the new house out there .

need to get out of the middle of this village or start going crazy.lol.

    thanks again ,shane

Living in a rural village takes time to adjust. Once you settle in, get known, become part of the village don't think you would want to live anywhere else.

Give it a try, kick back take it slow. The noise will disappear as your brain filters out the dogs, chickens, motor bikes, iron water buffalo at dawn, gun fire in my case and all the sounds that a village has[ yelling from one hut to another still gets me pissed ] but once settled a village is the best place to live. Jim

thanks Jim ,we have had no internet here for over a week ,people keep stealing the wires .

Anyway your right ,I have been coming here for about 7 yrs but never stayed more than a few weeks but this time ,after six weeks I am getting used to it and starting to really enjoy it .It will be even better with internet but, LOL.

thanks again to you all for some great advice .

    shane.

  11. I use a 3000watt portable gas genset to run a submersable pump. It's a three inch dia borehole with a 1 inch output. I can fill a 2000 liter tank in 30 min. The tank is connected to a drip feed irrigation system I installed this year. The pump fills the tank as fast as it drains.

The genset is on my ever handy quad. Go out early morning, plug pump into genset and open valves and watch my trees get watered

    Ken

I really like the tank and drip feed system Ken , but like Jim says maybe I can wait till next year, but I could get a geni now and use it for power tools and blackouts now and add bits over the years.

Most guys are using gas genset , they mean gasoline ? Why not diesel is petrol better ?

    Shane

  12. OP should really not need watering at 2 years old, water never hurts though. It's a cost thing long term, by the time you pay for the pump, pipes or hoses, fuel [ 20 rai is a big area to water properly ] will it be cost effective. Will you be paying out more than the returned benefit.

When I started out we just used 4/ 100 liter barrels on the trailer of the 2 wheeled tractor and gave a good soaking to each tree every week or so when it got really dry.

You would only be using the system for a small part of the year, unless you are in a really dry area.

Add up the costs before running off spending lots of money. Jim

    thanks Jim,

Good idea ,have started doing that with 4x4 now ,mum in law says the same thing ,first 2 years ok.

  13. thanks guys ,well it sounds like the best way is to just build a small dwelling n it so i can get the power and then build a small concrete box over the pump and strong door with locks on it to keep the thieves out .

Thinking if i build a small portable house there I can move it down the back for tappers to stay in later on .

    thanks again .

  14. Hi all I have 20 rai with two year old rubber on it in Isaan , we have a well bored and did have a hand pump till someone stole it , I don't want to build a house on it just yet to get power as we only live five min away.

So what about a portable diesel pump? Are they any good?

How deep can they suck water from?

How far can they pump water around ?

And what price should I pay for a good one ?

Any advice would be appreciated , I have no idea ,thanks fez.
