  1. when does a one year non O visa end ? is it from the date it was issued or the date of the first arrival stamp in the passport? mine was issued on the 18 aug 2010 ,I came here 15 sep 2010. so what date does it finish? and if I go out and come back before that date I get an extra 90 days ,is that correct ?

    thanks o wise visa gurus.

  2. heavy fines for littering ,even chucking cig buts .and for the people that live down the road and just through there rubbish straight across the road into the river ,and of course it goes straight out to sea .If people are caught they should be made to do comunity service picking up rubbish from roads and beaches .some of the beaches here are filthy ,eg near the x2 resort .

  3. as of sundays hash ,the info is she has improved alot ,she has had a few operations ,some to relieve swelling on the brain .She has a broken neck but they say some feeling has returned to her legs .

They say as soon as she improves she will be moved to Bangkok for more ops .O yer no visitors are allowed at this time .all the best Carmen ,get well soon .

  4. Koh Samui has both a large Tesco and Carrefour right?

Let's say I want to walk my dog on the beach every morning at 8am, will I have a quiet beach or is loaded with tourists? I really got that impression...

If the view is ok 4 story would be fine. I do however have a dog and two cats, would anyone happen to know a place under 10.000thb that might allow these?

Just make sure you pick up your dog sh#t every morning also .

  5. thanks mate ,I will give him a try .

    cheers

If no one comes up with a better idea - I would try Dan Auto if you are in the Maenam area. (On the main ring road almost opposite the Soi to the Paintball, Jungle Canopy etc)

He always says 'yes' whenever I ask him if he can do anything. He's not the cheapest, but he is pretty reliable.

  6. Hi all ,

have bought a baby seat for the car ,but the car has no back seat belts . can stick it in the front seat but the back left side is still safer .

anyone know were I could buy one and get it fitted ?I live in Lamai but will go anywhere on the island or Surat .

    thanks again ,fez

  7. Not wishing to hi-jack the thread but can someone answer this question?

''Is it possible for a hotel to ''own'' the beach in front of it and put up signs to the effect of Private Beach, hotel guests only 'Trespassers will be prosecuted'

My understanding is that no-one may own a beach.

I agree ,it seems like everyone that has a resort or bar on the beach spreads chairs tables and crap all over the place and you can hardly walk along the beach let alone spread a towel out .

  8. Fezman , where in samui are you staying ? There are millions of ways to get to the beach , but let us know what beach you want to access

thanks boater , I am in Lamai ,I know of the acces in the middle of the beach there .

but beaches like silver beach as far as I know are only accesable through resorts etc ,I have been there a few times and parked out the front ,just wonder how pissed off they may get .

but any info would be great ,thanks mate .

  9. Hi,all

been here on Samui for a few weeks and few times before and want to know how you get to the beach ,there is no or very little public access or car parks like in Oz etc.

do you park out front of a restraunt or resort and just walk through to the beach ?

do you have to use the chairs and pay for drinks or food ?

do they own the sand in front of there resort ?

let me know what you all do ,thanks .

  10. thanks everyone for the advice ,there has been some good posts ,and yer I dont want to put him in other wise I would not have asked what I should do ,I would have just dobbed the pric in .

and we dont even live in Thailand but we just have family members ring us for the last few years complaining about the goober .

I really could not give a rats arse what they do with him but sick of em complaining .we will be going back there soon and just like to sort it out before I get there .I told the wife to call the sister and sort it out tonight .she says that she is going to tell her to turf him or she will call the cops when we get there .I am staying out of it .

I will let you know how it goes

  11. The sister and him fight all the time and he is allways pissed ,he has never had any money ,only what his mum sends him every month ,yer she likes him ,but the rest of the family hate him .her three sisters all want him gone .yer I dont want to dob him in ,but I think the best way to help him is to get him to go home sober up and get job ,I think he is only mid 20s ,if he stays there he will be a life time bum.

He keeps saying he is going but he never does , she is going nowhere with this dude ,she get a heaps better bloke ,and no he is not Greg.

Perhaps you should have a talk to your wife's sister before you dob him in. She may actually like this guy.

IMO you'd be the turd if you dobbed him in. You could try helping him.

  12. HI all,

my wifes sister has a farang boyfriend ,he has no visa and I think no passport .has been there about 2 years living in there family home ,does not work and sits around all day drinking piss and chain smoking .

he gets money from his family sent to him every month ,bout 15,000 bt that he spends all on grog and smokes.

the family are sick of him and most want him gone ,so what would be the best way to get rid of him ? who do you call ,the cops ? and will the family get in any crap for having this turd there so long .I dont want to put him in but he has really outstayed his welcome and I for one one have enough of this bum.

oh yer he is in Isan if that makes any diff .

    thanks

  13. Generally the best option is to get CDMA from CAT. Works everywhere in Thailand (except BKK for now - coming later) Cost 6,000 baht in January and 780 per month

More reliable than TOT broadband (I have both). I tend to use the TOT in the mornings (slightly faster), then as it degrades I switch to the CDMA around lunchtime

Pay as you go option is from DTAC

3BB is getting bad press at the moment.

If you are staying near the IT centre near Lamai - I believe that they have a good fast reliable service.

Thanks mate , thats just what I needed to hear as I will be living in Lamai,

    thanks again.

  14. Thanks Loz ,ok now were should I buy one ? from the TV classifieds or baht sold ,one2car ,car yard .Do car yards have warranty etc and how dodgy are they ?

whats the go with finance on 2nd handers and the percentage ?I have had a few Yotas and they always go well ,what do you think about Hyundi ?the main thing I want is something to get me round town and I dont need to look flash, dont even care about crappy paint job ,just a bit of reliability .

    buy a used 'yota.

Thats the short version of a long backed up speech from a guy who's had 8 cars in 4 years in Thailand from classic benz to Modern super minis and an SUV.

find a used 'yota that fits your needs and budget and you'll not be sorry. If you want thrills and spills, buy whatever the <deleted> you like. I did. Now I want simple practical versatile transport. (currently I have a sportrider)

  15. thanks mate ,some good advice there ,thanks for your time .

thanks for the advice guys ,thought that maybe the case ,whats the Opal corsa like ,are they made in LOS? are they a sh*t box ?

Peaple allways forget: You get what you pay for. A used corsa (they are all 16 years old) cost arround 100'k for a manual (no pwr steering) or 120'k for a autobox (with pwr steering and pwr windows). So how can this car be good as a 3 year old Vios. No way! But how much you pay for a 3 year old Vios? 400'k or more. You can't compare this old corsas with Jazzes os Vioses. And if you want buy a local Japanese brand for 100 to 12o'k, what you could get? Not even a 1992 Honda Civic. So you have to go back to 80ties and you can find maybe a 89' Accort sh...box with cracked plastic seats and no working AC. Corsas are not bad, but you get what you pay for. Parts are not more expensive than parts for a Honda City. Corsas are made in Spain (not germany and not in LOS).

  16. We have taken two trips from Oz to Thailand and still have no internet banking ,bangkok bank is a JOKE .when we go back soon the wife is going to change banks .drives me insane .You can walk into the bank here and set it up in ten minutes .

over there they say they will send the password in one week by mail but it never comes .

Makes you wonder if the left hand knows what the right hand is doing at Bangkok Bank...and I'm an account holder.
