  2. I can't believe the reds are burning Government buildings and places in Isan... This is where Isan people work and take care of the Isan People.

These Reds have the IQ of burt toast...... This is not how you achieve democracy...... So sad.... I Hope they don't come to Samui. It is so slow there now because of this Mess

  3. Fox News is clearly the best and most balanced TV news source available, and the loony left just can’t stand it since it does not conform to their preconceived ideas of what they would like, no – demand - what other people should think.

It’s really sad to read some of the comments that come bursting out just as soon as a non far-left idea is expressed on TV news or here on Thaivisa.

With al respect,,,,Wake up Man... There Far from being Balanced..... One sided new....

  4. Ideally she should hold dual passports. Thai, and her other nationality.

Your child will need a passport to leave thailand. For his or her first trip out of thailand on other than a thai passport you may be asked to show the Birth certificate. and depending on what country you are traveling to they may want a certified translation of the birth certificate. I was recently asked for this at the Bangkok airport going to the philippines with my son to show this.... Good luck and enjoy

  5. This is going to be a nice little earner. I am aware that they are out and about in Bangkok as well. I know one biz owner who had to change all of their software, they had been warned though that they would be getting a visit in advance.

Happening in Chiang mai too apparently. What do these guys do when they are not having a crack down I wonder ?

I took the day off from work yesterday because of the rain and went in this morning and all the computers in the office where gone. i ask ..... and was told they hit all 3 offices on samui.... They said told the head person in the office that we could have them back for 200,000 baht each... some body is digging deep...

  6. What utter crap!!! I agree London has now most certainly become better value. Things are much cheaper in comparison to Thailand. Thailand is fast becoming a major rip off! People are still living in the past and still believe the old crap. So what is better value in Thailand?

I'm confused. Are you claiming that London is a cheaper holiday than Thailand?

As to what is "better" value in Thailand, I would suspect that accommodations and local food are less expensive.

Really.... How could London be a better Value destination .... London SUCKS big time. I will never go back there. Over price and cold.

  7. So obviously I know Thai Visa isn't the best place for economic advice, but it looks like i've sold my business, so have around 25m baht to invest somehow.

Being relatively young, 32, i'd rather have modest income and a higher capitol growth. I wish to stay in Thailand and already have several of my own ideas, but in these tricky economic times was just wondering what other members would do to achieve the goals i'm after with such a sum.

I do not wish to work, just invest it somehow that will bring in enough each month to live, maybe 100k or so, i'm mainly concerned with longterm growth of the original investment.

Take it to Vietnam and invest there. Better opportunity for the long hall and easier to do business

  10. Is anyone familiar with the buses that travel along Sukhumvit, where you can hop on and just travel from point to point (eg. Pattaya, Sattahip, Chonburi, Rayong, Bangkok)

Is there any website with the list of 'official stops' and how do you say that to the bus-boy / bus inspector (or perhaps maybe you can just stop anywhere)? I've only gone on the bus a couple of times so the only things I know how to say are stuff like "Pattaya", "Big C", "Robinsons" or maybe like "Bang Saen". I would like to explore many local places, but don't know how because I don't know the names, and if I mispronounce them I guess it would probably cost me twice or thrice the price and perhaps bring me to the wrong place..

And how do they calculate the price? Sometimes when I wear expensive-looking clothes, they charge me much much more - twice the price! While sometimes they charge less, and it seems like there's a difference of +/- 10 or 5 baht depending on the bus boy?

I have also seen, at night, neatly dressed bus inspectors (like a mix of a sailor and security guard uniform, neatly tucked in to black long pants). Are these the official buses or what... They certainly are much cheaper than the 'normal' buses, though the buses look quite the same from the outside. But inside, they have a tray to put your drink and slightly more leg room. However, most of the time I just see the 'normal' buses, with the busboys wearing plain white buttoned shirts tucked out with grey long pants, and that is the more 'expensive' buses in terms of fare.

Lastly, are they govt run buses, or private buses, or a mix of both the illegal and legal buses that ply the routes - how to tell the difference?

Well, 5 or 10 baht difference is not much, but I can't drive so I believe I would have to rely on these buses the most, and I think I would have to travel quite frequently in the future, so I'm just asking if anyone has some experiences...

I've read a few wikipedia and online articles on this, but doesn't seem very clear to me as I have little experience on them. And they mostly talk about the Bangkok ones. Anyone with interesting information, experience, or any Do's and Don'ts when on board these buses to share?

    Thank you very much!

You can Get a bus at the Ekami Bus station on Sukhumvit to Pattaya for 113 Baht. [Next to Ekami BTS. You can get off any where along the way be for Pattaya. There is also buses from the Airport for 200 Baht. {Holiday Tours} Bottom floor.
