  1. Moderation is important, but isn't it important what you choose to moderate? Especially if what you moderate can eventually affect your goals.
  2. I used to place Monks on a pedestal. I learned that Monk hood, amongst other things, offers devotees freely given resource allowing them to focus on their practice. The difference between a Monk and anyone else, is that Monks have devoted their life towards practice, and that the community freely offers resource in order for the Monks to focus on their journey. When I learn of stories where Monks regularly chew betel nut, I think firstly that Monks, like everyone, are subject to aversion, delusion, and greed.
  3. The meditation practice I'm familiar with revolves around breath. Observation of breath. Breathing in, breathing out. Observation of the space between the in breath and the out breath. The effects of Short, or no breath, vs deep breath. Achieving a long regular, relaxed breath without feeling winded or strained. With cannabis shops one sees these days just about everywhere I sometimes feel temptation. But I also I automatically visualise the damage regular smoking might have on my practice. I think of my lungs as a passport to successful Meditation and Mindfulness. This thought generates an aversion in me towards smoking of any kind. I think, why would I harm one of the most powerful tools available to me in pursuing my quest? Don't know what others might have experienced mixing the two??
  4. A few observations I made regarding some of the differences: Alcohol & drugs take minimal effort, while sitting & mindfulness practice needs considerable regular effort. Habitual use of alcohol & drugs appears to result in diminished affect. Increasing dosage to compensate can result in health issues. Sitting & mindfulness practice is totally natural, untaxed, & experiences can increase with practice (some say all the way to infinity). In most places it's not a criminal offence to be high on mindfulness.
  5. Since decriminalization the country is awash with all kinds of Cannabis, including access to potent strains. Navigating life with its diversions and temptations, how difficult has it become to avoid negative habits? Instant access to mind altered states vs a slow lifelong dedicated practice of mindfulness. Although Dharma has the potential power to reveal the infinite, progress is not instant, often taking many years to seep in and transform. On the other hand the temptation of using cannabis can yield instant experience, while also creating a habit often difficult to break. What encouragement can be harnessed to help a traveler to maintain Dharma?
  6. Just curious. Why is the cannabis strained out of the oil? Is it possible that the strain may carry thc and therefore add to the experience?
  7. I wonder how much research has been done as to whether Nano emulsifiers also allow other dietary molecular compounds across the gut barrier and into the blood stream. Compounds that shouldn't be there. I have no trust in the Food Industry, Pharmaceutical Companies and others who have been polluting our food with all kinds of unnatural compounds and chemicals. I'd rather consume on an empty stomach.
  8. Thanks for the information. It's always good to learn something new (to me). But are there better ways to address people who may have less knowledge than yourself? Well, I schooled myself and found: Yes, as you indicate "Decarboxylation is a process that activates the psychoactive compounds in the cannabis plant (good feedback). Decarboxylation can occur over time when drying and curing cannabis, after harvesting a home grown. Oxygen can contribute to the decarboxylation process. Buds are typically heated in an oven first to decarboxylate them, and then infused into a medium such as butter or oil. But caution, heating cannabis above 300ºF burns off valuable cannabinoids and terpenes. Basically earlier experiences were probably due to the stash naturally decarboxylating during the drying/curing process, but your advice to carboxylate should yield a better experience. Thanks.
  9. Just some clarification. The active ingredients of cannabis are fat soluble. Being a fat, the ingredients within the chopped up buds become absorbed by the olive oil. Think of the olive oil as a delivery medium. Butter can also be used. The urban teaching of adding the chopped up buds into your cookie or muffin mixture and then baking it in the oven is misinformed. The high temperature you end up subjecting the cannabis to will destroy most of the active ingredients. If you want cannabis cookies, cook your cookies as normal, separately grind your buds and mix them into butter, then spread the infused butter onto the cookie or muffin. Never heat cannabis. Having said that, eating cannabis with food will delay the onset of your experience. If I was going to start using again, I'd definitely explore the edible route. Far, far safer than smoking in every way. To begin with, if your smoking you won't be using a filter. If you use a water pipe, this is false security as most of the bad by products are not water soluble and will pass through.
  10. Just a few comments, based on experiences from former times when I used to partake. Instead of having to rely on the quality and content of commercially supplied oil, why not make your own? Remove stalks and chop up a bud/buds in a mortise & pestle. Add some extra virgin olive oil and grind to a paste. Add oil as desired. Place in a light proof container and keep refrigerated. For best results eat a portion on an empty stomach. THC degrades with heat and light (store & carry accordingly). With commercial oils, who knows what type and quality of oil has been used? What else has been added? Do you want to be consuming it? What is the quality of cannabis used? Much better to hand select your buds. Cannabis, as an oil, will deteriorate through poor storage and handling. Adding any food to your edible oil or paste will delay absorption. Regarding your experience of a relaxed onset, I'd comment that an increased heart rate may be occurring regardless of any feelings of anxiety or relaxation. You may not be anxious, nor have increased body heat, to have an elevated heart rate. A surgeon had indicated that long term use of cannabis stresses the heart, causes blood platelets to stick together, alters heart rhythm, and elevates heart rate. Smoking it also elevates CO1 levels in the blood stream.
  11. If there is an edge, I think it would be at infinity. As you can never reach infinity in time nor space, you can never be in the moment.
  12. Well put degrub, but by the time one sees and registers these thoughts you are viewing the past. So it's back to square one.
  13. My sources claim that space time no longer computes at time values smaller than 10^{-43} seconds. Time slower than 10^{-41} seconds with a length smaller than 10^{-31} cms will result in a black hole. But back to the OP issue, how does this affect being in the moment?
  14. A scientist, Donald Hoffman, can verify that the theory of relativity breaks down below "10 to the power of -33" seconds. But even in this minuscule passage of time you'd have to be very quick to be in the moment.
  15. I was hoping for insight and/or assistance about living life in the present? In the sutra “Knowing the Better Way to Live Alone,” the Buddha said clearly, “Don't get caught in the past, because the past is gone. Don't get upset about the future, because the future is not yet here. There is only one moment for you to be alive, and that is the present moment". My problem is that it appears that the present moment doesn't exist. If you draw a line and say: To the left of the line lies the past. To the right of the line is the future. But where lies the present? If you view the dividing line between the past and the future, from a microscopic point of view it appears as a having a very large thickness. To a microscopic being it may appear 10 miles wide or greater. How quickly can a microscopic being take to traverse this vast distance of this very thick line. Which part of this very thick line represents the past and which part of it represents the future? Which part of this can ever represent the present? This line can be made thinner approaching infinity, but the being observing it might be much closer to infinity in size. We have the same dilemma. The only way I can see the line being thin enough is to make it narrower than infinitely thin. By definition it would have to disappear. If it disappears then this supports my initial dilemma that the present cannot exist, as there cannot be anything bordering the past from the future. How can I practice being in the moment if it doesn't exist? Even if you replace distance with time (space/time and the theory of relativity) the problem is worse. You would need to stop time. If you stop time then the future cannot occur.
  16. Thanks everyone. Issue ended up being far too huge for DIY applications. Had to get professionals in. Infestation to house is extensive. Will not know if there is structural damage or where this all will end. My recommendation, "never build with timber". If you do use timber, don't let the local tradies place poles directly into the concrete slab. Must always be clear of slab using stirrups, and use treated timber. One example of a dodgy build, the builder used an old tree trunk as the main central stud and this was placed directly on the ground before the slab was poured. A great access point for termites who will eat the pole from within.
  17. Your original example was 100ml and 5% strength. I can't work out how many mls the Lazada example contains. Is the price difference due to the volume? What volume was your original Lazada purchase? thanks
  18. Thanks. We'll probably need commercial strength & quantity. I can't read the local language. Are these OK? Can't find your example on lazada. https://www.lazada.co.th/products/1-i4059577186-s15817189228.html?c=&channelLpJumpArgs=&clickTrackInfo=query%3AFipronil%3Bnid%3A4059577186%3Bsrc%3ALazadaMainSrp%3Brn%3A67bde79d62793660dfb07a7055abce4f%3Bregion%3Ath%3Bsku%3A4059577186_TH%3Bprice%3A245%3Bclient%3Adesktop%3Bsupplier_id%3A100191334%3Bbiz_source%3Ah5_internal%3Bslot%3A0%3Butlog_bucket_id%3A470687%3Basc_category_id%3A12150%3Bitem_id%3A4059577186%3Bsku_id%3A15817189228%3Bshop_id%3A217574&fastshipping=0&freeshipping=1&fs_ab=2&fuse_fs=&lang=en&location=Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya&price=245&priceCompare=skuId%3A15817189228%3Bsource%3Alazada-search-voucher%3Bsn%3A67bde79d62793660dfb07a7055abce4f%3BunionTrace%3A2ff62a9617211805964397316e%3BoriginPrice%3A24500%3BvoucherPrice%3A24500%3BdisplayPrice%3A24500%3BsinglePromotionId%3A-1%3BsingleToolCode%3A-1%3BvoucherPricePlugin%3A1%3BbuyerId%3A0%3Btimestamp%3A1721180596922&ratingscore=4.972663139329806&request_id=67bde79d62793660dfb07a7055abce4f&review=2268&sale=15138&search=1&source=search&spm=a2o4m.searchlist.list.0&stock=1 https://www.lazada.co.th/products/5-1-i5145362852-s21736438091.html?c=&channelLpJumpArgs=&clickTrackInfo=query%3Aascend%3Bnid%3A5145362852%3Bsrc%3ALazadaMainSrp%3Brn%3A9c96e61ed863be96a3142e92f5292bee%3Bregion%3Ath%3Bsku%3A5145362852_TH%3Bprice%3A226%3Bclient%3Adesktop%3Bsupplier_id%3A100189431081%3Bbiz_source%3Ahttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.lazada.co.th%2F%3Bslot%3A31%3Butlog_bucket_id%3A470687%3Basc_category_id%3A12150%3Bitem_id%3A5145362852%3Bsku_id%3A21736438091%3Bshop_id%3A1983382&fastshipping=0&freeshipping=0&fs_ab=2&fuse_fs=&lang=en&location=Kamphaeng Phet&price=226&priceCompare=skuId%3A21736438091%3Bsource%3Alazada-search-voucher%3Bsn%3A9c96e61ed863be96a3142e92f5292bee%3BunionTrace%3A2ff62a9517211810173396470e%3BoriginPrice%3A22600%3BvoucherPrice%3A22600%3BdisplayPrice%3A22600%3BsinglePromotionId%3A-1%3BsingleToolCode%3A-1%3BvoucherPricePlugin%3A1%3BbuyerId%3A0%3Btimestamp%3A1721181017967&ratingscore=5.0&request_id=9c96e61ed863be96a3142e92f5292bee&review=2&sale=43&search=1&source=search&spm=a2o4m.searchlist.list.31&stock=1
  19. The link doesn't work for me. Do you have a product name? I'll get the missus to ask for it by name.
  20. thanks Eric. Would your supplier offer shipping to Thabo?
  21. Is there an online supplier you can recommend? I tried Lazada offerings but I can't read thai. None of these products include ingredients in their description.
  22. The worst decision had been the decision to construct a 2 storey building on property where there is plenty of land. The roof has severe slopes making it very difficult to do roof work without specialist input. Rebuilding would be a major cost. Particularly where a lot of local operators are cowboys who aren't qualified and overcharge.
  23. It appears this product will only be supplied to licensed firms. So now the goal is to: 1. Track down a local company which uses Fipronil products. 2. A company which is professional in the execution of their work and does not overcharge. 3. The need to deal with living in a farm house with poison which is highly toxic and known to cause tumors. Any leads?
  24. Thanks R. How toxic is it for people and farm animals? How do you avoid poisoning everyone else?
  25. The roof is very steep. Being 2 storey and steep it makes it very difficult/dangerous to work on it without either a cherry picker vehicle or experienced roofers. The valleys are very narrow. Also the wings fitted below the ceiling line to the walls which give side protection have collapsed. The ground floor is slab with concrete brick rendered walls. Staircase to second floor is wooden. Everything from floor 2 is wooden and termites are in the floor. Don't know how they climbed but need to investigate. This details the roof treatment in more detail including costs. https://youtu.be/Y0127xbE9mw?feature=shared
