  1. I had the same problem 2 year ago at my old condo.Get yourself a slingshot for 20 Baht and go out late at night before going to bed for one week every single day and shoot that piece of shit. You will see that during the day he than will avoid you.

You should only do this if the dog really likes to attack you. If he is just barking ignore it.

I really like animals but for this problem I have tried many peaceful things and thats the only thing which worked.

  2. Thanks guys!

Might do it by myself then, sounds quite relaxed.

    Which weekday would you recommend?

Would Saturday/Sunday be very busy + long queues?

Saturday is The best day since visa run to Phnom Penh don't operate on that day so there are a few less foreigner coming through that day. Anyways if you arrive there after 1 the queues for foreigners are really short normally less than 5 minutes for each stamp. (Different queues for foreigner and Thais, And Cambodian use a special border pass which is a different queue again)

For Weekdays avoid Mondays since it appears to me that this is the worst day of the whole week.

  3. If your country has an embassy in Bangkok get a certified letter that your passport is being issued. And with this you can go to Immigration and try to get an extension based on this letter. My brother had the same problem a few years ago and by law he should have been able to get an extension of only 7 days However they gave him 30 days (He was on a visa exemption stamp of 30 days) . If they refuse they only way to legally stay in Thailand is the following

You will have to do border runs each border run will give you an additional 14 days. By law you will need an outgoing air or train ticket paid in full. Normally this law is not enforced but if the officer has a bad day or don't like you he can refuse you on this. The only way to avoid this risk is to get a ticket. For this the best choice is the train ticket Bangkok Butterworth Malaysia cost is around 1200 and once you are back in Bangkok you can cancel the ticket and you will get back around 800 Baht. This is the cheapest way.

If you wanna know how to make a cheap borderun have a look at my post in this topic http://www.thaivisa....ots-of-legroom/

Yes my country do have an embassy here in Bangkok. I can ask them for a certified letter. My issue is will they charge me with the overstay seeing my original Tourist Visa expired on 29 October 2010. I suspect that I will only receive my passport around the end of November 2010. Once I receive the new passport should I then leave the country for Malaysia for the 60 day? By that time I assume my Agency should at least have already have the Work Permit processed and ready..... My temporary passport is currently not an option for me now since I will be working here and there are no longer pages free to paste the visa sticker. That is the root of the problem. I can leave Thailand completely, but I have already committed myself to the school and agency to start teaching soon. The only option that I assume is viable is to wait for the new passport or request a certified letter from my embassy outlining them my problem regarding the temporary passport with the limited pages. Does the Work Permit then cancel the overstay fee once it is issued to me?

    Please advice

I Suggest you read my post again ;)

1.) I never said you should go to malaysia. Just get a train ticket to their from Bangkok . This train ticket can be used a a prove of a ticket to leave Thailand. Which by law is necessary to have if you arrive in Thailand and you wanna get a visa exemption stamp.

2.) Visa exemption stamps have two different length a) When you arrive in Thailand at a airport they will give you 30 days B) When u arrive via the land border you get only 14 days

3.) One way to stay legally in Thailand is doing border runs. It doesn't matter where you go you just need to leave Thailand and come back the same day to get a new visa exemption stamp. Closest place from Bangkok is Aranyaprathet/Poipet

4.) Since you have overstayed your visa forget about getting a work permit with it. With other words you don't have a visa anymore because it is expired.

Since you have a embassy here the best choice for you would be to go to your embassy and apply for an emergency passport. Once you have that you go with that and your old emergency passport to Thai Immigation in Bangkok and transfer your data and pay the overstay fee. After that go to Vientiane and apply for a Tourist visa. Once you come back you can than start the process of applying for a work permit and change your visa to a non b

Your Priority now should be to resolve the problems related to your passport and staying illegally in Thailand. Only once this is solved you can think about getting a job and work permit

  5. First question is how long would you like to stay. ?

If less than a year and as tourist exploring Thailand best option is the tourist visa. They are free until March 2011 With them you can stay around 177 days or nearly 6 month. For this go to Vientiane (capital of Laos) you can go there very cheap by night train to Nongkai which is the closest thai city to Vientiane directly at the Thai-Lao Border from there you can take a taxi to the embassy and apply for a double entry tourist visa. You will get you visa the next day in the afternoon and you have enough time to take the night train back to Bangkok. Cost for the whole trip including hotel and transportation should be around 2500 - 3000 Baht. On the border you will be stamped with a permission to stay for 60 days which you can extend at Bangkok immigration (or your local Immigration office) for 30 days cost is 1900 Baht. Just 1 day before the visa expire make a border run to a neighboring country to activate the second entry. If you you are in Bangkok go to this link and check for my post for more information http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/414868-visa-run-bus-with-comfy-seats-lots-of-legroom/. One you come back to Thailand you will be again stamped for 60 days which you can again extend for 30 days at Bangkok immigration (or your local Immigration office) for another 1900 Baht. When your time is up start the whole process again by getting a new visa in Vientiane. You should be able to get 2 continue visas without problem but I wouldn't count on a third one so if you intend to stay longer after that better get and ED (education visa)

If you would like to stay longer for a year and you don't mind studding you may consider a education visa cost for the school varies starting from about 14.000 but to this you have to add the cost of the Visa which is not free plus the fact that you will have to attend some classes which by legal requirement is a minimum of 4 hours per week. There are some school which offer the necessary papers for you to get the visa without making you come to the lesson but this is illegal and should the school be caught you will also be in trouble. So meanwhile tourist visas are free and easy to obtain at Vientiane they are the better choice

Just a few Notes for you well being in Thailand

Do not overstay even one day because it may cause you problems in the future and you may end up in jail.

Do no try to work without work permit and the correct visa. Not even for one day and dont let you trick saying the will provide everything after probation period.

Following Thai law everything you do even unpaid can be considered us work so don't do it because special in your situation with a baby it is just not worth the risk

Do not try to argue with immigration officer or consulate staff it don't help anything and if you do it probably the will check your paper until the find a reason to reject your application.

If you need more help PM I speak spanish as well

  6. Hi,

I am 1,88cm so quite tall as well. In my opinion the best choice is do it by yourself. I just did it yesterday for the 12th time allready

    1) Go to century department store) closed to victory monument on the road wich leads to siam/mbk

2.) On the right side of the entrance which has a sky bridge to the BTS Station there is a minivan station.

3.) Go to the minivan station and ask for Aranyaprathet Since they have also vans to Hua Hin and Pattaya they do speak some words of english

4.) Take the van cost as of yesterday was 230 Baht All the van which go to Aranyprathet are new and large. I found that all seats are fine for me but the one with the most legroom is the first row. From you knees to the driver seat you will still have 50cm.

5.) The van will leave you 300m from the border just walk straight and don't listen to anyone. (a lot of scammers there) If you need to ask for the way ask at the banks or 7 eleven

6.) Go trough the Thai border and as soon as you cross the bridge cross over to the right side and you will see a house were you can apply for the visa on arrival cost is 20$ or 1000 Baht (I know it is not the same but it is the scam they have mounted there) If you want you can change money on the way from the van station to the border since you will pass some banks Kasikorn even opens on Saturday and sunday

7.) Once you get your visa continue walking on the right side past a hotel/casino until Cambodian immigration arrival. Stamp in and leave. Cross the roads to the other side

8.) On the other side you have a place called Cambodian immigration departure. Stamp out and walk back to the bridge just before the bridge cross to the other side.

9.) Continue walking and go inside the thai immigration stamp in and go back to the van station

    Note

Last van from the border leaves at 16:50 so you should try to be at the van station in bangkok before 11

Normally the van takes a bit more than 3 hours and at the border it will take you between 50 -70 minutes so you can calculate a maximum of 8 hours

Cost for all together is around 1400 Baht

With jack holiday or other visa run services you will leave bangkok before 7 and return around 5 or 6 the lunch they offer is the crap and their buses are old specially if you compare them to the new minivans used from century to the border. Beside you will pay 600 Baht more. And the only difference is a shit lunch and that they fill out and stamp the paasport at the campodian side for you. Problem is the long queues are on the thai side and since they arrive at the border at the peak time be ready to be in the queue each time for at least 30 minutes. Best time to arrive at the border is after 1 since than all the visarun companies and tour companies have past already and queening time normally is less than 5 minutes

  7. One point on above there is only one Embassy for Thailand in Laos (there can never be more than one); but the visa section is located in the Consulate which is a separate building in Vientiane so you want to go to the Consulate rather than the Embassy.

Try saying Thai consulate to the drivers of the taxi and they wont understand what you want.

Saying thai embassy they will take you to the consulate. For what would a foreigner who just come from the border go the Thai embassy in Vientiane if there he cant get a visa.

Conclusion sometimes it is better to speak in the way the local can understand you than speaking correct

  8. It would make a lot more sense to me if taking to a shop for service for 100% cpu usage to have them look for the cause first rather than destroy everything on the hard drive (which will never be the same unless cloned - which is not likely to fix the problem). In most cases this is easily done. Reformat is a last resort - not proper troubleshooting.

The Problem by this is finding the real problem will be much more expensive and the risk that they cant do it and later you have to reformat anyways is really high. So basically you have 2 choice.

1.) Save your data by yourself and go to the shop and ask them to reformat the hard disk for you. If you posses a legal windows copy take it along with you and ask it to install it for you. 100% guaranteed that the problem of 100% CPU/100 Ram use is solved and the amount is reasonable. Specially since reformat is an easy task and you can do it in second line shops. My Tip (only if all you wanna do is format) go to the small second line and look for a shop with less than 3 employees because normally the owner of this shop has more knowledge and willingness to help than the young staff at the first line shops and price difference can be huge

2.) Take your chances to find a shop which can solve the problem. For actually solving a problem you need to find a trustworthy shop and from my own experience they will try and later say "sorry can not , have to format ok." and you will be paying them for finding the error and formating and since you tried to do it in a good shop it will cost you probably around 1000. And in the case that they actually find the problem probably they have created 5 other problems.

So considering these 2 option I would stick with number one for the case that my computer has an actual value of 20k or less if it is more than I am would take it to the service center of that brand . Also if you don't trust the shops at all. Just ask to format and reinstall the BIOS and install anything else at home by yourself. Like this you can push them as low as 200 Bhat without any risk to you computer and which a near 100% chance that the problem is solved.

  9. Of course I mean format and re-install operating system and all software. But go to any Thai IT shop and say format and they know what you actualy mean is "format and re-install operating system and all software"

Here in Thailand for the average user who only use a computer but has no real knowledge this is the best choice because it is easy and it will solve the problem 100% guaranteed and for the price of 250 Baht I think it is more than acceptable.

Of course I know they are a lot of ways you could solve the problem by yourself without the need to format and reinstall, but lets face it only a tiny part of all computer users would be able to do this and than dare to do it.

You can at least tell the guy to back up his data before you tell him to go to a 250 baht win install shop...

Secondly, you should not recommend anybody to go to a any 250 baht shop.

Tell him instead to be really careful and choose a shop that has good knowledge/reputation, who does not install illegal software or other unwanted junk.

Tell him to get proper antivirus/malware/security software if he insists to continue to use Windows.

    Martin

How come people don't read ??

I told him to save his data which means backing up the data right ?

Second formating the hard disk and reinstalling is a stupid job and anyone with a little knowledge can do it, From my own experience in panthip you can find reliable shops who do this for 250 by the way 250 Baht - 350 is what the typical employee in this type of shop earns in a working day of 10 hours. And formating plus reinstalling the system wont take longer than 2 hours so everything in excess of 250 - 300 is nonsense.

Non of the shop I know will install illegal software if you provide them with your legal software on CD. If you don't want any of the additional free illegal software just mention it to them. They will be happy since it takes less work for them. The reason why they want to install all type of junk software is because they are used to their Thai customer requesting it and they see it a good service to their customer.

Finally this topic if I remember well is about a laptop getting hot and the possible causes for this and not about reformatting the hard disk.

  10. HIghly recommend against taking the advice that "reformatting your hard drive will fix your problem 100% gauranteed."

Is the laptop really running warmer/hotter than it is suppose to, as that was never made clear. No real problem was indicated in the original post like the laptop is locking up when it gets hot, etc. The post only identified a concern/asked for feedback about what might happen "if" the laptop overheats.

Why don't you read my whole post before trying to show your knowledge without offering any solution.

If you would have read carefully you would have noticed that I just recommend him to check the normal CPU and RAM usage of his computer. I did this because since the poster didn't give enough information I tried to cover all possibilities where the problem might be. And yes there are some problems which will make your computer run at 100% all the time, And yes a computer which runs at 100% all the times does get hot. And for non computer expert the best way of solving this specific problem which may lead to hot computer is the solution I mentioned.

So please read the full post and understand it before you make your own post which should by the way be more focused on providing solution and not simply let you bad mood out

  11. 1. I overstayed because we have a construction site in Thailand for 3 month. I came with an Tourist Visa as i work for an Swiss company but needed to stay longer in the country as the work wasn't done. I forwarded all my documents to a agent to try to get an extension.

She couldn't do it but the immigration kept the 13k which i paid to do so.

They only ensured me i wont get black listed or do prison time.

    2. How dare you judge anyone who is overstaying by give him Jail time and huge fine.

Not everybody overstay because he like the life in Pattaya. There are working people out there.

    Best Regards,

    Lammbock

People who overstay as tourist just being lazy and spending their money are not the troublemakers.

However people who come from oversea to work here for their foreign company and later announce in a public forum that they overstayed and work without work-permit do make the life much harder for all of us who live and work legally in Thailand.

Don't you realize that by posting this you give them exactly the arguments they needed to justify another crackdown and enforcing the laws on the foreigners living here.

Hopefully you get tracked down and blacklisted !

  12. How About doing it by yourself ?

    1) Go to century department store) closed to victory monument on the road wich leads to siam/mbk

9.) Continue walking and go inside the thai immigration stamp in and go back to the van station

    Note

Last van from the border leaves at 15:30 so you should try to be at the van station in bangkok before 9

Normally the van takes a bit more than 2 and halve hour and at the border it will take you between 50 -70 minutes so you can calculate a maximum of 8 hours

Cost for all together is around 1400 Baht

With jack holiday or other visa run services you will leave bangkok before 7 and return around 5 or 6 the lunch they offer is the crap and their buses are old specially if you compare them to the new minivans used from century to the border

First check how is the status of your computer if the CPU and RAM are always running at 100% it is normal to be hot this can happen due to a lot of reason. Best way to eliminate to stop this problem is to save your data and than format the hard disk. If you cant do this by yourself in panthip they will do it for about 250 Baht.Second check if the fan actually works sometimes dust and hairs accumulates stopping the fan from spinning, If so you can remove the cover and clear the dust and it will work fine again.

Also sometimes dust and hairs block the entrance to the fan limiting airflow try to clean it carefully and if it still runs

If all this doesn't help it is a design fault and the cooling pad are the best option

You advise someone to format the hard drive if the CPU and RAM are running at 100%???

If they follow this advise the computer will then not boot up. I guess you mean format and re-install operating system and all software. I would only do this as a last resort if i could not resolve the problem any other way.

  14. First check how is the status of your computer if the CPU and RAM are always running at 100% it is normal to be hot this can happen due to a lot of reason. 15. Phnom Penh Embassy is the worst in southeast asia staff is extremely rude and you can expect to wait in the sun for a while if inside it is to crowded. Also the visas will take up to 3 days of processing time if you are not willing to pay express fees.

My recommendation would be doing it in Vientiane which in my opinion has the friendliest staff and the best system and also visas will be ready to pick up the next day from 1 pm onward.

    For the form http://vientiane.thaiembassy.org/upload/downloads/from/6Visa%20Application%20Form.pdf

Download it and fill it out in advance and it will save you some hassle

  16. If you are exiting the country it is not an issue and dont worry

However if you wanna extend a visa you have to file a police report at a local police station about the missing card than go to immigration with the form you got from the police pay 1000 Baht to get a new one before you finally can apply for the extension

    Went through this last weeksad.gif

  17. If you are in Bangkok take a van from Century Department store (located at victory monument at the side of the BTS Station) Cost is 240 - 250 baht and it takes around 2.5 hours on arrival just dont care about the scammers and go to the border. On the cambodian side get the visa Price is 20$ or 1000 Baht (I know it is not the same but it is the scam they have) return and go back to the van station

Quick and easy shouldn't take more than 6 hours and cost less than 1500 + you have the advantage that you dont have to wake up early (All visa run companies leave before 7:30)

Last Van from the border to Bangkok is at 16:00

  18. Death Penalty is not enough for this criminal

    Torture him first

He wanted to sell dead to other and earn a living by destroying other peoples health

Selling drugs is murder so it is worst than raping so if they rape him in prisson or kill him he deserves it

This story may come as a big surprise for you then. There's a documentary on TV right now (I think NAT GEO) where an Australian was caught trying to smuggle 10.5 kg of heroin out of Thailand.

    Here's a brief synopsis:

"At age 28, Tim Schrader left Australia to work as an English teacher in Bangkok. He loved the teaching and the nightlife but was struggling financially, so he agreed to participate in a scam. For $1,000 a trip, Tim arranged fake marriages with Thai girls and flew with them to other countries. After a few successful trips, Tim was offered a chance to make $10,000 by smuggling 4-8 kilos of heroin into the U.S. Although he knew he could face the death penalty if caught in Thailand, the money was too tempting to pass up. But at the airport, Tim was stopped at the check-in counter. In a back room, drug authorities found 10.5 kilos of heroin in his suitcase. Facing the death penalty, Tim plead guilty and was sentenced to life in Bang Kwang Central Prison. Depressed, he began to use heroin and after two years, tested HIV positive. Tim managed to kick heroin, and thanks to his mothers efforts, was granted a royal pardon on medical grounds over five years after his arrest. "

    __________________

So now, 14 years later he's happily married and living the good life in Australia after serving only 5 years in prison, for 10.5 kg of heroin. Compare that with 54g of methamphetamines. The guy he was carrying the heroin for turned him in. He was found dead in Bangkok some time later.

How many deads and broken lifes would 10.5 kg of Heroin cause ???

The pure fact that this type of criminal now is one the street again living a happy life is a insult to all of those who lost friend and relatives due to drugs. And I can guarantee you that their beloved one will never even have that chance to live a normal life again

Every drug dealer and producer should be sentenced to dead specially if caught in the act and if the reason they did it was just because the amount of money was tempting

However this penalty should not be applied to those forced to commit this crimes because the son or families are held hostage

  19. My Brother woulden't do this type of shit and if he did I woulden't talk to him anymore. Specially if this is the second time he got caught doing it.

of course YOUR brother wouldn't do such a dastardly thing, but not talking to someone is different than killing them - as mentioned in the title of this topic.

This guy isn't the poor farang who had a accident with the police. He is a cold hearted criminal who gives a dam_n shit about the health of his customer most of whom start using this drugs when they are still kids. He know this and for sure he knew in advance the penalties wich are enforced on drug related crimes in thailand. So after getting caught and found guilty in sweden he escaped to thailand to try his luck again. Since he knew in advance there is no excuse for what he did

And by the way, one thing is sure with him dead or in jail I fell a bit safer since one producer has been eleminated plus the publicity which should other make think twice about doing the same as this criminal

You seem to know him quite well. Plus, do you wish the same ('dead or in jail) for booze manufacturers? Just wondering.

With not talking to him I mean I wouldn't care if he rot in jail or get killed or raped.

Making your life by selling drugs which destroy the life's of other person is in my opinion one if the worst type of crime and the same level as those who abuse little children for their own enjoyment.

So I think you agree that somewhere we need to draw the line between the freedom of our expression and action and the inadmissible which will destroy our society. And being a drug producer is for sure being seriously harmful to any society

By the way drinking a glass of beer once a while does not make you become a addict or ruin your life. However meths causes addiction as early as from the 2 consumption.

  20. I also blame the users. Methamphetamine is not only the most powerful but the most addictive and destructive. If there were no market then manufacturers and dealers would be out of business.

Who saw the movie MILK? It's a true story which ends when a disgruntled city politician (Dan White) murders the mayor and Mr. Milk in cold blood. You know what Mr. White's attorneys argued as the reason White killed the two men? He said Mr. White was not in his right mind, because he was addicted to, and mentally screwed up by eating too many sweet treats. Really. They dubbed it the 'Twinkie Defense.' And the most amazing part of the true story is: THE DEFENSE STATEMENTS WORKED TO LESSEN WHITE'S TIME IN JAIL!. He only did a few years ....for the double homicide which he admitted doing.

Who says Meth is the most addictive substance? People kill for sugar laden treats. People kill for not getting their cup of coffee in the morning, and kill for a lot less than that. OJ killed two people in a rage - what had he injested that afternoon - a hamburger and a milkshake? There are at least a thousand addictive substances. How many people get killed by meth rage? My guess is several per year, tops. How many people get killed by drunkeness? Average 33 per day on Thai roads, and the # doubles for New Years' and Songkran 'holidays.'

If the Swede were your brother or son, would you still want to burn him at the stake?

The Spanish Inquisition mentality is alive and well on Thai Visa tonight.

My Brother woulden't do this type of shit and if he did I woulden't talk to him anymore. Specially if this is the second time he got caught doing it.

  21. Mr Klaus, Gas is quite effective. Relatively painless and quick! Don't delete this Mr adjudicator as we're talking about the death sentence so it's a justified statement. Unpleasant is an under statement!

Gas, Poisin, Electric Chair, Firing Squad I dont care.

But we must make sure he cant do it a third time

He will probabaly go to another country and start selling this shit again killing innocent people

To all of you who feel sorry for him think about his victims and their ruined live just because a swedish scumbag wanted to make some quick and easy money

  22. WHY do people do this?

Did they expect that you could forever run a business where you sell a banned substance, without getting caught?

Were they deep down, and somebody came by and offered them cash for their service?

Are they drug addicts themselves, and needs to get cheaper by?

Is there easy money in it? (I strongly doubt it).

Why do people not do this? That is 100 times easier to answer.

Yes, I feel sorry for the guy. It takes a special misfortunate life to do anything this stupid. Whatever heritage and life brought him it was not something nice.

Don't give him death or a live sentence in the Hilton. 3 years of jail, 5 years of community service.

If a next time? Take him out from society, permanently.

THIS IS HIS SECOND TIME !!

He was allready caught and found guilty in sweden and than escape to here to continue his bussines

  23. To those of you who speak in favor of this criminal .You are defending a murder

You should feel more sorry for all the poor people who get addict to these drugs which later end up with a destroyed life. Im sure if he sold the drugs to one of your friends or relatives you would think differently

Furthermore he even dont feel sorry for it.

So who you wanna protect and support ? the agressor or the victim ?

He is the agressor and hopefully he get what he deserves which is the same all the person will get who bought the drugs from him

Drug addiction = Life penalty as well.

By the way Ice is considered one of the 5 most dangerous drugs

Death Penalty is not enough for this criminal

    Torture him first

He wanted to sell dead to other and earn a living by destroying other peoples health

Thats a bit harsh Mr Klaus Ernst. This is not Nazi Germany.

This idiot has been caught with about 2 ounces of Class B drugs. Silly chap, should know better.

In most of Europe this would mean a 50% likelihood of jail time and if incarcerated it would probably not be for a year.

In this case the authorities are actually considering the death penalty. So by contrast its already pretty severe wouldn't you say?

You, on the other hand feel a bit of torture should be inflicted on this unfortunate individual? How extraordinary!

Don't mention the war. I mentioned it once, but I think I got away with it.

Klaus it's a real shame that human beings can even think like you. Personally I don't think anyone should receive the death sentence and above all be tortured before they're slain. Much less people die from illicit drug addiction every year than the large corporate alcohol and cigarette companies kill (the numbers aren't even comparable), so why don't you just hang all of them also as they're also murderers judging from your argument. Get your head out of the middle ages as the death penalty doesn't make society a safer place. That's fact!
