  1. I support my gf through bitcoin since 2-3 years.

International bank transfers are slow and expensive and western union a rip off.

She got verified on coins co th and gets needed money every week on her bank, in the hour for 8thb.

Pro: works well since I/gf use it.

Cons: large spread and only market order.

I actually try to get her verified on Bitkub, but just discovered Satang exchange...

I will be coming more regularely to TH with long stay, hope to open SCB acc and get verified on thai exchange, I travel on Bitcoin it's my "international currency saving account",

I am not trading, my only gains are holding the strongest currency, so there is no income.

If I exchange USD to THB at a better rate tomorrow, did I have a capital gain?

    Has anyone experience with Satang?

It seems Bitkub has good reputation, is it "as good as advertized"?

I use Binance p2p in Cambodia, and have the Crypto and Nuri cards, but local bank charge on ATM wd.

    i don't know.
is there a gold shop in Thailand that will exchange crypto for gold ?
that to me is where i need to see acceptance.

Just look here for adoption and remember many places which accept bitcoin did not register their place on this map.

On my side, being swiss living in Cambodia (running Auberge du Soleil in Kampot where I welcome Cryptos with 10% discount), I "support" my Thai gf living in Isaan by sending BTC to her coins.co.th account and she can withdraw to her bank account in less than 6 hours for 8THB fee...
Much cheaper and faster than to wire from my swiss bank or khmer bank, as well BTC going up, it costs me less CHF or USD for the same THB amount.
Bitrefill.com sells vouncher for just about anything you can need.
    Adoption is on the corner.

  3. The problem I see with s-e asians, is they use "123456" as password or their own phone number, and if any other, they forget it...
And if you loose your private keys, no one can help you to get them back and/or if you create a new account, your funds remain on your original wallet.
But sure crypto is going to Boooom!!!
Bitcoin, Litecoin, XRP and probably OmiseGo OMG which is already a payment system infrastructure.
    Bullish!

  4. Good serie of comments!

Recommendation #1: Don't spend money on anything you don't understand the reason/value/use/need!

Recommendation #2: Get at least basically informed, we speak about the "Internet of Money" and Internet did change the world, expect the same here! (see some youtube suggestions below)

Recommendation #3: I have seen many times is "Put up to 10% of your savings/investments in Bitcoin but not more than you could afford to loose, then forget about it for 5 years...
(You could as well empty small coins from your pockets into a jar, and once a week or month, buy this value of BTC...)

To newbies, if Bitcoin hitches you in a positive or negative way, I would suggest to spend 10 minutes in an easy to understand intro in which the orator's daughter comes in to simplify what her father explains.
I supppose this should be enough to make you want to know more or stay away...
Title: "Bitcoin for consumers today | Paul Hickey | TEDxCincinnati" (2015 1BTC=$270)

But you might think it can worth the time to understand the ideology of decentralization, mathemathic truth, as well as a good set of Q&A by Andreas Antonopoulos:
Title: "An Introduction to Bitcoin" (37min, sept 2016 1BTC=$630)

After those two, you might want a deeper understanding of how central banks' and governments' monetary systems work and why it could be clever to save a bit in "Gold 2.0":
Title: "Bitcoin Documentary by Discovery Channel" (27min, june 2017, 1BTC=$2'740)

The only thing I could regret in my 4 years Bitcoin experience, is to Not have simply kept the 1st batch of units I did buy...
I was playing arbitrage in and out in a safe way with an amount I did prefer not to lose.
Cashed my seed and profit in fiat, but kept just a little bit of BTC which is still pure growing profit.
I would personnaly buy more if I had liquidities but this is not a financial advise, my only advise is Study the Basics before any Decision !

  5. I live in Cambodia with a Khmer wife who easily drinks too much!
When she drinks the first beer, she will go for 10 or more, leading her to an angry violent and very stupid behavior. I would like so much better to see her smoke ganja, get more lazy than usual... she would not run after me with a knife as when drunk!
Alcohol is a huge problem while "natural" open air plain ground ganja is healthy.
Anyway with both these as with any conciousness altering substance, one need to be wise enough to know it's limits and use with moderation.

  7. Auberge du Soleil in Kampot serves delicious Swiss food as Cheese Fondue, Cheese Raclette, Röstis, but as well French Brasserie Cuisine and at affordable rates. Quite perfect $1,00 Expresso, warm served Croissants and Chocolate breads are recommended for your breakfast. All this in a beautifull French Colonial corner house, 1 street away from riverside.
Kampot is kind of a foodie's place with a large choice of nice places to eat different types of good food, but this one is a Must.

  8. Why not ankle bracelets like criminals?
    Aren't we?

When I see this news and the new vehicles for the Royal Thaï Air Force, I felt like posting a comment on "US urges Thai military to return the country to civilian-led government as soon as possible" but it's not available...

So combining all what happened in LOS since the Coup with these three today's news, I really feel that there is a masterplan to lock up security before revealing an very uncomfortable truth which could lead to civilian unrest and high powers fights...

Peace and Long Life The King.

  9. 25 years ago I had to order my Nescafé with 3 spoons (of dehydrated acid coffee) and often received an "american style", tasteless brown water with 3 tea spoons laying in the sub plate...

Now you can get a really tasty Italian Style Espresso!

20 years ago, you could speak much more freely on Thaivisa which had to wait for internet to get out of the CERN.

The american politically correct language was not yet invented even in their own country!!! (Maybe americans ruling thaivisa still had a bit of their native english blood which could enjoy the English style morbid humor)...

  10. My greatest fear after having seen 8 years of Georges Dummy Bush disastrous effects on the world's Peace and climate, is to have stupid electors fed with TV and media lies to have to choose between the most corrupt female and a TV hypnotist.

In both case, the USA will be even more hated than ever!

Is there not enough educated, clever people in that big declining world's dictarue to understand that Sanders is the only clever choice for a Better World in Peace, redinimize a cleaner economy... a better future!

I fear so much the people will just look at the physiological organs between the legs of their future president and after a first black, to choose for a first goose instead ofchoosing for the less stupid or corrupt Brain.

    Could America sgine again?

  11. True pure tobacco is healthy.

e-cig is a business joke, inhale poisons in solvents...

Cambodia is an open air country, so not much problem about second hand smoke.

But finally I can accept administrations, bus stations and places my smoke will bother others can be banned, but please not like USA EU or Thailand.

  12. ATM transactions, cards and accounts are all free of charge where I live.

I $witzerland where I come from, Postfinance offers free ATM/Debit card which, even in case of foreign country ATM withdrawal will not have any other surcharge on their side if your account is over a certain amount.

Management of the account and e-banking is free and extremely secure as well, 24/7 helpline...

But here in Cambodia, CamPuBank wants to charge me $6,00 USD for a CamPuBank only ATM card...

I did not take it and remind the cashiers they should suggest the direction to give free "own bank ATM card" as checking my bank book, copying my passport, filling the form, etc etc is time and money consuming for the bank!

  13. What does Prachum have to be jealous about? He already left hi wife. He is the one with who ended up with the woman! No! Something is not quite right here!

I have gone through 2 x-wives and in that time we had heated arguments before. But never was any of those times right after sex and her still laying in bed with only a towel wrapped around her, and me standing in a bath towel. That was the only time I liked her actually.

I think that if there was a "Jealous Rage" behind these murders I would be looking for an alibi from the husband or Prachum's X-wife. I don't know about the rest of you guys but I don't think I would be none too happy to find out my wife was sleeping with my best friend. Especially if we had a business together and couldn't walk away so easily. .

I agree, and would add that I fear mostly babies and eventually HIV or other STD, meaning I would not use a condom if I had planned to die romanticly with my mistress...

But as I never wear a gun, I might would use latex to have sex with another girl than my beloved life-sharing girl.

  14. According to different news, the need of having a proper work permit will be enforced. (1995 law)
A type E (Business) visa is not a work permit as most of us barang had thought until recently.

The law is still not clear about one very important point:
French Embassy had an announcement saying that you only have to make it and pay for the current year, but they withdrawed it without further explanations.

According to the Labor Ministry here in Kampot, and as I did read on different forums, the year on which your first Visa E has been issued (even if on december 31st of that year) counts as the first year you have to pay retroactively! But you can read the opposite too!

I have nothing against the idea of having to pay for a work permit, as long as I am aware I have to do it, but I have a big problem on accepting to pay 4 years back while I heard of others paying just the current year.
On top, they told me I have to pay a $30 fee for an annual medical check. So we have to pay for a check, but we don't meet any doctor...

First we had in may a very polite visit with 4 officiers from Kampot immigration and police asking to get cleared on that permit, and at that time they said I would have to pay only for 2014... then I tryied to get that permit being sent from one office to another, then I was said I needed a paper saying I had left Sihanoukville where I was registered, one and half month I wait and call again and again for that paper... 4 months struggle to do my best to be all in order....
Finally I found the right office thanks to another barang indications... but they say I have 4 years to pay, 4x $100+$30 = $520

I hope you can share your eperience and knowledge or even contacts for people able to give a final answer about these "up to your face" fees.
