  2. Thanks everyone for your support.

I tryed to teach in chaiyaphum, but to teach you have to have a degree in any subject and a tefl course. I dont have a degree. I did some teaching in our local school which the teachers there were very happy about, but there wa s no paid jobs.

Im willing to work anywhere and do anything if its legal. I even tryed to find work in war zones as a driver it was £1000 a week, but my wife saw a video clip on the net which showed a man being shot as he drove a lorry.

Yes maybe i was lucky not to have a problem when i was farming, the locals called me the crazy farang or poor farang as they could,nt understand why i worked every day. But i think i had there respect as iworked shoulder to shoulder with them.

I was also very friendly with the local inspector of police, its good to have friends!!

    Thanks again

  3. Hi guys

before you all get angry and start shouting get a job you lazy b!!! Please take a minute to read this?

I moved to thailand to live and farm with my wife in 2008. I had limited funds but felt sure we could live as a family as well as we could in england. 2008 crops were good, 2009 we had 4 days rain in 8 months. crops were stunted, 2010 we had bug infestation cause we had no rain the year before. I also had a problem with my leg which made it impossible to work and had 2 stays in hospital, my wife was ill and also had to stay in hospital my mother in law was sick and had repeated visits to doctors. all eating into our funds.

2011 my father in law was knocked over by a car and was in hospital for several weeks fortunatly paid for by gov 30 baht. while taking care of him in korat hospital we had to pay people to take care of our fields, we live neasr chaiyaphum. as my in laws seperated 20 years priviously my wifes mum was not happy to see her ex take residence again in her home causing terrible upset.

Then the rain came and washed 40% of our crops away!! No money to plant again, sold the pickup for airfares and came back to uk with wife.

I have never been unemployed in england and have paid 32 years taxes. i was sure i could find work rent a property find my wife work so we could later apply for a settlement visa.

Problem with my leg came back, i came back in march and have been sick ever since hospital are still doing tests. my wife has returned to thai, to find work in bangkok, i have no idea when or if i will be able to see her again, if she were here she could find work and would be able to take care of me.

Is there a way genuine people such as myself can bring there wifes to luive with them. we have been together for 7 years.

please can you surgest any thing?

    Gary

  4. Where is the father and is he willing to give up the children, or does your wife have sole custody awarded by the Thai courts? Do the children each have a passport?

The father lives in our village still. Yes he has no objections No they have never been to court, have never had a marriage certificate. But the children have been regiserd in his name. No they dont have a passport yet, we are waiting till we can change there names.

  6. Hi,

    i got lost to!

I live near chaiyaphum, which is devoid of any decent fishing, they eat everything!

I took the wife to chaing mai and found a pool in bo sang, we had a guide cost 2000b, we caught 7 mekong cat fish up to 24kg, my wife caught that one. It was comfortable with lots of shade, had bait, food, BEER on sale! was open from 7am till 10pm.

My wife found out without a guide you can fish there for 100b a day! can hire fishing tackle, and all the locals are very helpful.

down falls., dont fish during holidays or weekends. It gets full of locals and they will come and put there rods next to yours, even if youve been there for 3 hours. And its a 1200k round trip!! Do you knpw of anywhere nearer to me?

    Tjght lines!!

  7. Hi guys,

I read a topic by bailly, answered by nev about a pool in kk where you can catch cats. i live in chaiyaphum and had a trip to chaing mai with my wife where we caught cats to 24kg, that was the wifes!

They eat anything here so fishing is a waste of time. Nev has given good directions, and bailly caught a 25kg cat.

    ,

what i want to know is the pool on road 2 about 8 miles south of kk, supplys bait, but does it hire fishing tackle?, I have to go for my visa run on tues next week and was going to stop over for a couple of nights, take the wife shopping?!

Any help and advise where to stay cheap, only need hotel for sleeping. Will be fantastic.

  8. Hi guys,

sorry to be a pain, cant find the old post on the same subject.

Can you please clarify for me.

My visa runs out on the 19th march. My last 90 day reporting is on 6th march. At this time can i extend it by a further 60 days? And after that another 30?

If so does the extenson start from 6th march or from my visa expiring on the 19th?

Thanks again for your help and time!

  9. Hi folks,

Picking up from the thread about the increase in old age pensions.

I have been married for 2 years, have been to the thai emmbassy, and had all the legal paperwork done.

My question is, how do iget it registard in england? I have been told if i do so, my wife will be intitled to a pension to? And if anything were to happen to me , i would want her to have this benifit.

For me any increase in state benifit for those who have paid is long over due!!!

I will thank you now for being more well informed than me, and sharing your knowledge.

Yes im trying to keep my family, the way any good husband does, not easy sometimes, i am prepared to work anywhere!!! I will try 110% to do a good job for my family!!!

And you poppeye, did your wife marry you for compassion? your good heart? your sarcasam or your bank balance?????!!!!!!!!!

    Just a thought!!!

Just a suggestion, albeit not a great one, but better than many of the people who seem to have nothing better to do than have a go at others:

If you have a reasonable internet connection you could try completing online surveys. Not ideal for someone who needs quick money, as it takes time and is not well paid.

The rates often work out pretty poor - around $3 - $4 per hour (THB 100 - THB 130/hr). So you'd need around 120 - 160 hours a month to reach the level of income you're looking for - which is pretty much a full working week. They can also be frustrating, eg some bounce you out half way and give you nothing. Often they send a cheque which can take them say 4 weeks to issue.... etc. etc.

Obviously you can do as many as you can find (or want) and you may also struggle to find the amount you want. But sometimes every little helps, and may make part of what you need while looking for something else. Possibly the wife could also do as well, if she sets up an account - but you need to be careful they don't think it's the same person doing multiple entries on same survey. Anyway. Good luck!
