  1. Hi guy's,

ok i will keep this short,

    I need work!!!

I live near chaiyaphum, i'm 50, fit, and willing to do almost anything, if it's not envolved in drugs or something that will put me in the monky house!!!!

I was a stock aduit manager for 16 yrs, made redundant. since i have worked as a sales administrator, cleaner, van delivery driver. then met my now wife, had to find money.

Found work as a digital radio fitter for the m.o.d, fitted in anything from jeeps to tanks, they sent me to germany to complete the last 2 months of there contract.

Stayed in thailand for 1 1/2 years. back to england, found work as an assembler, paint srayer and lorry loader for joy minning, making roof supports for coal minning up to 62 tons in wieght.Have been farming now for just over 1 year, but need to find an income!!!

    Can anyone please help???

looking for an income of about 200,000 a year??

  2. They have issued two entry tourist visas - not non immigrant. They are not likely to issue more than a single entry non immigrant O visa - but if you intend to extend your stay on a yearly basis that may be all that you need.

For multi entry only KL seems to issue routinely now and they would like to see 100k or more in a bank account (although may issue without first time).

    Thanks topburi for the advise.

I dont understand the extension rules? Are you saying i can get a single entry non o for how long 60 or 90 days? After that i can extend it for how long and where do i have to go? i am on a 60 day extension from khon kaen, but dont know what happens next?

Thank you and everyone for your help and patience, i hope later i can repay it to someone else!!

  3. Hi folks

thanks to your great advise about multi non o visa i cant stop smiling!!

Just one more bit of advise needed!

Ilive near chaiyaphum, what route do i take to kl? I dont want to fly, but was wondering how to get to kl from bangkok? Is there a bus or train service to malaysia? Where do i take the same from? Any idea how much and how long it takes?

Be glad to pass on any info about trip once i get back.

Thanks again for all your help!!!

  4. Hi all

can you help please? Im liuving near chaiyaphum, but am unable to find anywhere to buy servise parts for my ranger? I read a thead many months ago that said ford parts were expensive? But also that many mazda parts were the same but alot cheaper?

Does anyone know more than me? {should'nt be hard}!!!

  5. There is no such thing as a marriage visa.

A non immigrant O visa for entry and then you can extend your stay for one year at a time after that with proof of 400k in bank account for two months first year and three months later. Will requires wife and a handful of paperwork (mostly copies) and marriage paperwork will have to be registered here (if marriage was not done here). You can not combine income and bank accounts so it is either 40k per month income or 400k in account.

If you do not believe you can meet the extension of stay requirements a multi entry non immigrant O visa is the best option. That provides unlimited stays of 90 days each for a period of one year from issue date. For new stay you have to exit Thailand, enter other country and return for new 90 day stay.

Hi i'm in the same situation but come from england. i already have a 60 day extention on marriage grounds. I have read you can go to kl for a non O visa, but am not sure if this is a multi non o? Do you know where i can get a muti entry non o from, dont want to have to return to england, to cold!!!

  6. Hi folks,

I have just been to khon kean {where i found them very helpful!!}for a 60 day extension of my one tear non o visa based on marage to thai lady.

I was told after this i can get a 15 day extension in non khai, then go and see them again to get another 60 day extension?

Do you know if i can get a 1 year non"O" in thailand? Was told can have retirement visa but i dont have the funds in my bank or an income of 40,000 a month.

I read before here that some people go to kl for there visa? Is this a non"O"? If so where do you go? whats yhe cheapest way to get there? I live in chaiyaphum. How much does it cost? How long does it take to process?

    Any advise would be great.

    Many thanks!!!!

  7. The last price I heard of for Euca was 200 Baht per ton. The price collapsed at the beginning of the year, but may have moved up since.

This would equate to 1450 tons. 72.5 tons per Rai.

Please consider transport and labour (cutting, loading, etc) costs.

    Regards.

    Ok thanks all.

sorry i think i hav'nt posted very clearly.

The owner has money problems. the ownership papaers are in his name, not rented. the fields papers are supacore? my wife speaks like this but i dont know if thats how you spell it?

He want to sell all 20 fields, plus his trees for the said price.

his fields are 40 meter square, and hes planted trees 2 meter by 3 meter apart, i think about 260 trees one rai?

Im very grateful for any advise, im new to farming and sometimes its very hard to understand my wife and her family as things they say seem to change by the hour, or minute!!!

    thanks again!!

Oh yer .... "SUPACORE..." - well, well, that explains it.

She means SOR POR KOR - and that worriedgary is the RED FLAG I was refering to

SOR POR KOR land is subject to a load of restrictions, not least of which are restrictions on buying and selling.

SPK titled land was specifically legislatated for to give poor farmers access to land and to protect them. As recently as 2006 Thaksin tried to enact legislation which gave SPK holders the right to CHANOTE titleship (unrestricted use and ownership) as part of his efforts to get appeal to the rural poor.

He was not successfull, and if anything his efforts attracted the sort of attention those who trade "under-the-table" with SPK titles can least afford. Yes - titleship does change hands, yes village heads do sign-off on name changes - but legally, you are paying something that legally you or your girlfriend will never legally own - and that explains the price.

Has your grilfriend or anyone else in the family made any effort to explain to you any of the above .....?

If you want to go ahead I suggest you do the following: go see a local lawyer (go alone - you don't want to take anyone with you who can twist his arm for a fee) and get an indpendent opinion from him regards getting an SPK title changed to relfect another name. Been a local lawyer he will know who the local officials are and how amicable they are to manipulating paperwork, and standing by any name change to documents they sign off on if challeneged 5 - `10 years down the road (i.e. just before the crop matures - the time when you can expect any problems to arise, if they are going to arise).

My personal opinion - you want to avoid this one like the plague - the risks outweigh any benefits exponentialy ..... anyway, if it was such a good deal, why aren't any Thai's interested? I would think that been SPK land has a lot to do with it!

    Thanks maizefarmer!!! Great advise!!

Yes my wife has tried to explain the difference between all the different types of ownership, but very poorly as it seems! Im gonna take your advise and go see a lawer!!

    thanks again!!!!

  9. Hello,

my wife and i have about 5 rai we plant rice on for our family to eat. We dont plant any thing after. What a waste!

Have you plant other crops after rice has finished? If so what is the best and easyiest to keep, as we also have fields of chillis casava and soon will be planting sugar beet and poss eucalyptus.

    Many thanks Gary.

No worried now but dont know how to change name!!!? Ha Ha

Does this soil dry out after the rice growing season or does it stay wet/swampy?

If it dries out (and you have access to water for irrigation in the dry season), you could probably grow whatever you wanted to (i.e. its a small enough area to manage hands on every day). I wouldn't give it all over to one crop - try different things at the same time, just keep in mind it should all be crop types that are seasonal, and which can be ploughed back into the soil come the next rice growing season.

Beans (Mung) and peanuts are definetaly a good choice. Makua is another option - willl last for the whole dry season without having to be replanted and which you guys can pick on a daily basis and sell fresh in the local market. Any vegatable crop which wil last the whole dry season and which can be picked 2 - 3 times a week to sell at the local market for "cash in hand" has to be the way to go.

All the above are easy to grow - as are chillies.

What about a rai or 2 of sweetcorn(?) - fresh daily picked & cooked sweetcorn sells well at nightmarkets (steam/boil at night market and offer with salt & butter) - spread the sweetcorn planting out over say 1 month or so ..... plant half a rai first week, another half rai 10 days later, and some more another 10 days later - you don't want it all to mature at the same time and be stuck having to retail the whole crop in a couple days or so (sweetcorn looses its taste and flavour within a few days of been picked).

    Thanks guys!!!

Great advise, multi crops sounds good. Our rice doing well, should be ready in about 4 weeks. Time for a holiday!!! going to phangan. Kids happy never seen a beach before.

    Thanks again!!!

  10. Is that price for just trees or land and if land how many rai are the trees on? At the price you quot that should be about 8 rai.

thats 20 rai, all planted with eucalyptus. If your saying should be about 8 rai, sounds like i've got a bargin!!

Do you know the selling price? I live near chaiyaphum.

    Thanks.

  11. Hi,

does anyone know the current selling price of eucalyptus grown for charcoal? i have the chance to buy 20 already planted fields, trees about one half years old for 290,000b. trees average about 10-12 cm diameter. The people who want to sell have not given food or cleaned weeds. I know this tree can make problems depleating the water coarse, and rendering soil useless. But cant help think this is a bargin?!!

  12. If nothing else why not try a green manure.

    Mung beans or peanuts perhaps.

But like someone said, it depends where you are & how much water youve got.

Ok guys im sorry for being nieve, yes we have an all round year supply of water, and yes we are planning to plant rice again, i was looking for people with more experience who could educate me. im located near chaiyaphum, in issan. Thanks again.

  14. Hello, a few weeks back i read topic on goverment crack down on thai wifes buying fields for there forang husbands.

I recently tried to change the deads of some fields we bought from my sister inlaw to my wifes name. We made all the paperwork out in our local town, but when it was sent to, chaiyaphum main office is was sent back, as my wife has taken my name.

I explained that we have papers from the goverment office guarantying my wife is a thai national, but were told we cannot use her name. We now have had to put my mother in laws name on the deads. If anything happens to her my wife will have to change her name again!! Has anyone else had a similar prob?

  15. I have asked my wife about writing the letter asking the Embassy to give a Non-O visa.

Turns out my wife has never written a letter to an official and she asked me how and what to write.

Is it too much if someone who has been successful using this letter to PM me a generic sample(in Thai) for my wife to read and use as a guide. In particular the format wording(salutation/closing).

If this has been posted before, can someone provide a link?

I will send you the letter and some more details by PM

    Cheers

Hi Fred, sorry to be a pain, but could you pm me a copy of letter to pleaswe? Thanks

  17. hI FOLKS,

IM JUST ABOUT TO BUY 20 RAI FOR THE PURPOSE OF GROWING TREES, POSS EUCALYPTUS OR TAGO. MY BROTHER IN LAW HAS JUST TOLD ME THE GOV HAS PUT A BAN ON THE CUTTING OF FORESTERY TREES? SURLY NOT? HOW CAN THEY INFORCE THIS WHEN SO MANY MILLIONS OF TON ARE PRODUCED FOR PAPER AND WOOD. ANY ADVISE PLEASE?

  18. Hi again,

my brother inlaw has just sign with a company to grow tagu trees. It all sounds very good? They dig a well supply trees fertaliser, support, and pay you for 3 years 22,000b for every field you plant!! have to pay back after you harvest the trees after 5 years! They say they will pay 3,000b if you can grow tree to a circumferance of 150cm at 1 meter tall. But are very vague as to what they will do if you only achieve 100cm? I am tempted but with language barrier i cant get the info i require to make a judgement. Cant tell you the name of the company for the same reason.

I am unable to find a website in english, although there are many in thai. If anyone has dealings with a similar company or can enlighten me i would be very grateful.

    Many thanks Gary

  19. wonder what hubby's parents are doing as they mostly only do cassava (korat)... next time he calls, i will ask... as he just arrived there yesterday... they grow their own rice for food, and cassava for the factory outside korat....

  20. Hi folks.

my casava crop is now 1 year old, and looking very good!! hope to have between 6-10 ton for 1 rai. however!! the goverment quota was set at 2baht a kg, quota now closed. people are still waiting for there money 3months on!! major prob for some poorer farmers!!price has dropped near chaiyaphum to 1.15baht 1 kg!!! wife tells me its because the gov stopped producing bio-fuel. thaskins idea??

Has anyone got an insight into whats happening? What is the selling price of cassava around thai? Now fuel prices are rising again! Will the gov produce bio again?

Re-thinking now, looking at planting tagu or tagoo trees, but unable to find web page in english, my wifes english is not very good bless her, i cant read thai. would be greatful for any info.

    many thanks Gary

  22. Hello and help!!!!

i am going to chaiyaphum to marry my girl friend of 2 years. im 48 and intended staying in thailand indefinately. Now i find out i cannot have a 1 year non imigation visa without a marrage certificate or being over 50? Can i go there on a tourist visa and then take marrage papers to the british embassy or thai embassy and have it changed to a non immigration visa?? My garl friend is getting worried now as we already have wedding planned for later this month!!

No you can not - there is no Thai Embassy in Thailand and the British Embassy does not issue Thai visas.

You can get married on a tourist visa and stay up to 90 days including the extension of stay - you can also get another 60 day extension of stay one time. If you can meet the 40k baht per month family income requirements you can extend your stay one year at a time at an Immigration office inside Thailand. If you can not do this you can exit Thailand and obtain a single entry non immigrant O visa at most Consulates and Singapore may provide a one year multi entry if you can show 400k in a bank account somewhere.

If you are in the UK you should be able to obtain a multi entry non immigrant O visa from the Thai Consulate in Hull (by mail or in person) now. Not all Consulates/Embassies have the same requirements. It should only take a couple of days by mail.

    Thanks for your help!

    One last question?!

If i have the "o" type visa. when it runs out after 1 year. Will i have to return to england to renew it??

    Thanks again!

  23. Good afternoon.

Please help! I planned to go to thailand this month to marry my girl friend and live there.

I now have found out i have to be 50, or have a marrage certificate to be able to apply for a 1 year non immigration visa?

Can i go there on a tourist visa, get married, then get a non immigration visa either in thailand, or from one of the ajoining countries??

I would also be working on her farm, do i need a work permit for this?

I would be gratefull for any help!!

    Thank
