  1. I think Thaksin's message to his people was once again just the fantasy that they'll be somehow in charge by the end of the Year and I guess he'll concentrate on forcing a November election date. A Phuea Thai election win is one of the possible scenarios for his return, according to earlier statements. It's getting pretty lonely out there...

  2. of course he is unfazed, the threats are just government lies to give more credence to the continuation of the emergency decree, He knows his life is not in danger, well not from the reds anyway.

Do you really believe what you write?

Does it matter? Ignorant statements like these do not deserve attention. Many have heard and seen the death threats that were made on the red stage, even demonstrating the how...

  3. And the origin of the 'violence involved' was always more than a little one sided.

Both sides broke laws, but PHYSICAL VIOLENCE towards others is a game changer,

both on the street, and in the courts when it comes time to prosecute.

A violent group that loses a battle, will get hit harder and faster in the courts.

Agree, that this is a factor

  4. Non immigrant visas allow a maximum stay of 90 days. Extensions of stay from Immigration are not visas and can allow stay of up to one year.

One year validity of a visa (multi entry) only means you can come/go within that period of time and receive a new 90 day stay on each entry - you can not stay longer than 90 days without an extension of stay.

Perhaps if you look at them as a multi entry visa valid for one year rather than a one year visa (which it is not) it will be clearer.

Yes, that makes it a bit clearer, Thank you.

  5. "...he says is waiting for the Ministry of Education to stamp papers to the new owner also a foreigner before he can legally advertise the school and the courses."

    That might be true.

I have my doubts about not paying taxes, unless the amount earned is low enough so you just don't owe anything. Starting this late in the tax year, you might have enough deductions to offset the salary. Have they said this is for this year, or every year?

The deductions are calculated pro-rata same as the salary itself. The tax code is very clear about taxation and the answer to the OP's post is: That's a whole lot of bull...

  6. One just has to be aware that this occurs all over the world. No valuables in checked baggage, point. If not avoidable use at least hardshells and good locks. No point to make it easy for these thugs, just because "it shouldn't happen". Naive behavior at least, unless it was a cleverly set trap;)

  7. Agree. That is why the white people catch Khun Nelson to scare the black people.

    Although he done no wrong.

Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela, born 18 July 1918, served as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999, and was the first South African president to be elected in a fully representative democratic election. Before his presidency, Mandela was an anti-apartheid activist, and the leader of Umkhonto we Sizwe, the armed wing of the African National Congress (ANC). In 1962 he was arrested and convicted of sabotage and other charges, and sentenced to life in prison. Mandela served 27 years in prison, spending many of these years on Robben Island.

No matter what you google... I still don't see the connection between the Apartheid struggle and the corruption culture in Thailand. Therefore your remark seems misplaced. You're a rather odd one...

  8. It does little good to highlight the persistant and growing grip corruption holds on Thai society without also offering his governments policies on how to stall and roll back that corruption. I think Abhisit probably has policies and laws and restructuring he'd like to enact for that very purpose but he sometimes seems a bit inept politically with his timing and delivery. Highlighting the problem and offering the solution should go hand in hand.

Fully agree, otherwise it is just lip service..

  9. Think this line proves how superfical people are in in Thailand...."Her story has elicited an outpouring of public sympathy because she was pretty and popular"

So if she wasnt pretty and popular, no one would give a sh*t that she had died ??,

or she wouldnt deserve public sympathy if she was fat and ugly ??

Yes, it is very superficial and quite sad...

Anyone else laughing at those ridiculously small fines? Most of these weight loss products are extremely expensive, and have a very high mark-up for the manufacturer, a 20-30k baht fine is nothing.

Exactly, these kind of fines won't scare anyone given the huge profits that are common in this business.

  10. The only thing I want from a guy named Tony is to make my pizza the way I like it. :)

He'll use too much red peperoni :D

Back to the issue then...I doubt that Interpol will act and if, the evidence has to be very conclusive, which we all know is not that clearcut. Other than that Thailand has not much credibility left abroad and I doubt that Interpol will adopt anything else than a "let's wait and see" approach. However one poster got it right, the red movement aka the UDD aka Phua Thai party has lost out big time as well. Of course there are still scores of red shirts who condone and justify the violence done using irrational comparisons, including some notorious posters on TV who accuse the Thai government of Kindergarten like behavior. Their argumentation however shows a clear lack of mental ability! If at this stage you still find excuses for all the bs violence then all you deserve is a loud "F*%#c y*%". These were real people who got killed and real families who lost everything. How could anyone still come on a thread and point fingers and mouth their standard phrases. I'm really fed up with this brainwashed bs propaganda and oh yes, f#*%k any colors...

Are you suggesting that everyone killed by the military was armed and an immediate threat, or are you saying despite random firing of live ammunition at the crowds the military killed nobody and all the dead were actually killed by their own side?

From my point I have yet to see a picture of a dead protester with a gun within 50 yards of him, I have seen many pictures with no visible weapon. It is clear the military killed unarmed people, I am sure some of those killed were probably armed also.

Mental ability? keep the flaming out and deal with the issues, thanks.

Quite telling that you feel targeted. You can stop your manipulative attempts, violence is violence, no matter who commits it, it is wrong. I don't go out and shoot someone, just because it has been done before. I have made clear clear that I don't care about colors. I also made clear that I'm disgusted by the likes of you, point. No flaming just fact.

  12. The tragedy is that we will not get accurate information for a long time to come, if ever. There is still a wide rift between the different factions and obviously also an eclatant lack of knowledge within the red masses. Example? I just came back from upnorth where some villagers still swear and discuss the fact of the murdered (by the Government) soldiers, who refused to shoot at red shirts. By now the story has been found out as another manipulative plot, using pictures of soldiers killed in the South while serving their country.

I've also read a discussion on another (Thai) forum who ended like this: <We aren't finished, we'll come back to Bangkok soon!> Answer: <We know, next time we'll be ready for you!>. I'm afraid we're in for a long, very long healing process.

Wish my Thai reading / comprehension was better. I'd be interested in the Thai forums on this subject......or is it just loads of Thais bickering instead of farangs on TV?

Yes, there is a fair amount of bickering and it is not dissimilar in many aspects to what is happening on TV.

    Long process? No.

Mark say by September, everyone in Thailand will be a happy big family.

    Election will be held 14-Nov-2010.

Yeah, I know he pobably did. Unfortunately we can not all float on a pink cloud... As for you, you seem quite content with your sarcasm these days... happy for you too :)

  15. His wife, wasn't it? The reason she gave to the bank was "to buy lottery tickets". Seriously, sometimes I'm wondering if the government really is that ....well, dense? To put it nicely. Or if they're letting the Shinawatra's off the hook every time on purpose.

Remember Thaksin leaving for China to watch the Olympic Games? He left with dozens of boxes full of cash from Suvarnabhumi. Don't tell me nobody knew about that. And don't tell me either that they didn't exactly know that he was never coming back.

The same with not knowing that Thaksin's wife wouldn't use the 1.2 billion Baht to buy lottery tickets.

If anyone's dense it would be the SCB staff then. And we all know where SCB's loyalty lies. Strange way of debating...

Who owns Siam Commercial Bank again? That's why it doesn't make sense to me. Look it up and then let me know.

I'm aware of MFC Asset Mgt. or the office of CP. I guess we will see the fall-out over the next few weeks. But I'll give that point to you.
