  1. Hi Ladies in Thailand !

I have been living in Thailand for 15 years and some how I think I learned how people treat ladies. As there was something happened to me which up set me greatly, I just wonder how you have been treated in general ? OK ? not fairly ? I am an Asian woman. but not Thai. Do you think this effect ?

  2. Thank you for people who gave me some information. In the end I found a small store in Phuket where I could order bathtub with teak wood. (The lady there told me they make it in BKK.) My bathtub is 100cm diameter round and 70cm heights with proper draining plug and cover. it cost me less than 14,000 baht including delivery. I came out better than expected and I am very pleased. here are photos of my bathtub waiting to be used !!post-56528-0-78559500-1317802130_thumb.jpost-56528-0-72910100-1317802148_thumb.j

  3. We had problem with leaking roof for many years even we tried a lot different things. Finally we found a company does form spray in Hua Hin. It's not the cheapest way, but it has been working out great. No need to worry every time we get rain is such a relief.

This company goes all over Thailand to do their jobs.

  4. Hello All

I'm new here but had to add something to this post based on personal experiance. We had problems with our leaky roof for 10 years and had to replace the ceilings in our third floor twice due to crappy work done right from the start. Ended up paying Marcus from "SprayMe" from Pattaya to spray 3 inches of foam under the roof. Complain about the cost at the time but now I can not be happier. When the job was finished you could actualy look up at the outside of the roof and see places where the foam had filled the holes from the inside out. Not only is it watertight now we have noticed that our utility from the air-con is down by over 30%. I do not have any fancy gauges or tecky knowledge regarding this topic but I am not blind to the results and the 10 garrenty from a Western company made it well worth the money.

After 2 years now inside our 3 story shophouse roof in Chalong we have contacted Marcus regarding spraying the roof of our 3 story home that we are building Rawai/Nai Harn. www.SprayMepurfoam.com as with any job you get done here it's better to pay a bit more up front and get it done right the first time.

  5. The coconut stuff spoils quickly if kept outside of the fridge or within a few days when kept in the fridge. What I usually do is keep a little in the fridge and the rest I keep in small portions in the freezer.

I bought my first 2 bottles of "Paridice" brand virgin cold pressed coconut oil last at "Carrfore" in Jungcelon Patong last night. After having it recommended to me by my personal trainer for loads of resons I went home and got online to read volumes of reserch on it and the helth benifits. I will not bother to go through all of the info on a forum and if interested do the reserch yourself and you will probably do the same as myself and go out and bye some.

One of the interesting things about the most highly recommended brands "Paridice" is that cold pressed virgin coconut oil can be kept on your cooking counter for up too 2 years without refriduration. Do not by the other types that are recomended for suning with as they are not cold pressed virgin.

I found it in Carrefore in the cooking oil Isle between the oils and organic rice choices. They only stock the small bottles so I bought 2 at 169 baht per bottle. It looked like a white jelly when I saw the bottles and did not move at all when I gave the bottle a vigorous shake. Upon taking it home I decided that I would get on-line this morning and find out what and how to use this jelly stuff. Behold! On my counter sat 2 bottles of beiutifull clear oil and I can only surmize that the previoss form was a result of the air conditioning at the shoping center.

I bought the extra bottle for my trainer as she mentioned that she did not know where to bye it localy and after reading all the research I learned more about fats and oils then a one hour training session.

I hope this info helps and regards from Nai Harn Richard

  6. Well, it's my dream to own Chou Chou as my pet and now I am seeking information that is possible in Thailand as lots of people say too hot for that dog. As much as I would like to make my dream come true, but I do not want to be selfish and end up harm that animalHow do you think ?

you want to buy chow chow or you would like to breed? anyhow, we can provide you, if you need

  7. When you go to market, you see varieties of curry paste. But most recipes for curry dishes that I can find from cook book and/or online are green, red, yellow, Penang and masaman. What are others for ?

  8. It's almost silly to find this out for our stage of planning to build a house. But some one told us that you need to have one meter from property line to your building, if the building(house) has only concrete walls. And you need to have two meters for the 1st floor and three meters for 2nd floor up if you wish to have windows/balconies. Lots of houses around where we live including very new ones do not have such distances between houses.

Is this really true for Thai regulation ?

  9. Hi, we are trying to get an approval from Or Bor Tor for our house plan. They told us if we like our name, farang who have long term lease for the land, on the approval, it will cost 50,000-60,000 Baht. If we do not mind use land owner, Thai National, name for approval, it will only cost 20,000 Baht. Do you know if there is any down side of using Thai national's name for approval for the house ? Thank you.

  10. Our average daily use for two people is between 300 and 500 liters. Depends if its a wash day or not. Suggest 2,000 liters as a minimum size. Should the city water stop for more than a day and you have laundry and a guest there you may be in a tight spot. With 1,000 liter there is very little wiggle room for the time when the city supply dies for a few days. The bigger tanks are not that much more cost and there are many sizes as for the height/width to fit you're needs.

Hello everyone and thanks for taking the time to respond to this post. I would like to clairify a few things that my wife did not include with her above question. We do not have city supplied water at our location and do not expect it if at all any time within the next 10 years. Didgging or drilling a well is out of the question at our hillside location up at 65 meters and our neighbours went down 60 meters of hard rock drilling and found nothing. Water delivery is relitivly cheep at this time but it is our retierment home and we are concerned about the long term delivery prices due to increased fuel for the trucks and the availiability of Phuket,s fresh water supply in the future. Our home will have a cistern system for trapping rainfall with our 15 x 15 meter flat roof with a 10 cm lip around the top with downpipes to the ground storage tanks. Trapped rainwater will be our only supply to support us with a small swimming pool, jacuzzie tub, normal laundry every second day (machine) showers and water saving toilets. How much minimum storage space do you think we will need to collect as much of the heavy rain fall as we can to maintin a safe supply? Thanks

  11. Most of the builds here in LOS is mainly made to order. They fit to what you have planned. The few companies that I have seen offering pre-made products seemed to be more expensive & why conform to their plans when you can have it your way anyway.

If there was some benefit(lower cost) I might think of adjusting to there plans. Thailand everyone has a different idea & they do not reward a standard size (that I am aware of)

Thank you for your comments and suggestions.

How about size of water tank. At our rental home now, we do not pay water, so we have no idea how much water we are using per month. What kind of size of water tank should we have ? It's house for two of us and may be very small pool later. Thank you again.

  12. We are planning to build a house and just wondering if you can buy standardized size windows and doors ? or are they all made to order ? Also which would you recommend, aluminum ? or UPVC ?

  13. We are planning to build three stories house. Even though we have rough idea what kind of house we like to build, there are lots of things are uncertain yet. In order to get permission to build a house, can any one tell what minimum need to be in the plan ? Some said how many rooms and how many toilet/shower with rough draw. Is that good enough ? or more like architect draw very much in detail?

    Thank you.

  14. Dreaming to have our own swimming pool at our home. Now we are process of planning to build a house. Is there any one can give us rough idea of cost to build one as well as maintenance/water, electricity etc ? We really need a small one, nothing fancy just for me and my husband. Thank you.

  15. Copy of passport, arrival card & visa, ID photo and some kind of prove that you live at the address you want them to mentioned on the letter such as contract from land lord, house paper etc. If you do not have one of those, letter from your land lord stated that you live there and/or any bills from anything with your name & address on may do. Plus 100 Baht (not sure if this cost is officially or not officially.)
