1. Orient Thai....I seem to remember one parked at Udon Thani minus a few engines...think there was some case involving taxes paid on the engines...something to that effect...Air asia departs out of Don Muang and offers meals(not free) which I wouldn't advise you also usually board a bus to get to the plane and pay extra for baggage and if overweight on your return they charge thru the nose....I was overweight by 5 kilos on return from Shenzhen once and had to leave my family in the departure lounge and go reverse through security to find they do not exchange Thai money (had to pay in Yuan)at the foreign exchange in this teminal so had to hike it over to another main terminal building and find an ATM machine, my wife was worried as this process took 35 minutes or more.....Low-cost airlines sometimes cost more in the long run....we have booked on Emirates and the flight is about 8,500 total for a return flight with a 30kg baggage limit meals onboard as well as 1,500 channels of video and it departs out of Suvarnabhumi which has much better facilities than Don Muang no taking an overcrowded sweaty bus to the aircraft. For me the extra expense of 2,000 baht for a flight which provides all the extras including a quiet ride in the A-380 is well worth it.

  2. Got a call at 9:30 last night about flight cancellation from Sakon Nakon to Bangkok... My 3 year old son and I are travelling onward to Vancouver which would have already made it a long day for him as our flight was scheduled to leave Sakon Nakhon at 8:05. Now we were informed since they were having mechanical troubles, which I don't believe, we have to be at the airport at 4 am to take a "van" to Udon which they say is a 3hr journey then catch our flight from there then taking our flight which is a little over an hour... I'm not happy at all I checked the flight about 2 hours before they called and it was obviously undersold as the tickets were about 500 baht cheaper and I did the online seat selection and there were only about 20 seats taken, if that. The lady on the phone said 85 seats were sold for the flight....whatever !! Now I am being forced to ride (or miss our flight to YVR) in a van with my son who never rides without being in his car seat but now I have to and with someone else in control of our safety especially these van drivers with horrible driving practices....If we had been informed earlier we could have made other arrangements....Its almost 3 am now and I haven't been able to sleep just thinking about this situation. I booked this flight as I thought it would be quick and easy as we have a long journey to Vancouver now the beggining has turned into a nightmare. I will never fly Nok air again !!

  3. Also if you join their members club(casino) before paying for room you will get your room for half price...so you only end up paying 1,000 baht per night which is very reasonable. There is no need to spend any money in the casino, I'm not a gambler and didnt spend a baht there just remember to go to the desk area right after the entrance join and get your member card then book and pay for your room. The buffet breakfast was also included but after going into the buffet area which was packed with Issan farmers we decided to forgo the experience. We drove across the friendship bridge in our own vehicle so we were lucky to be able to cruise around at our leisure otherwise the hotel is not within walking distance to anything other than a few old restaurants on the road to the casino, there are no 7-11's around so maybe bring some water and cup of noodles, pepsi, or beer. Don't get a room overlooking the casino or you will be listening to the casino all night long, we had a room looking over the pool which was very quiet, Also I do not think they have wifi but for a couple of night its no big deal, we drove around the area quite a bit and this is by far the best place to stay as far as I was concerned if your on a budget I did notice a couple of places to stay close to the embassy(500 baht ??) but for the 1000 baht a night that we paid it was well worth it.

  4. When staying at the Savan Casino and Hotel make sure you sign up for the membership card prior to paying for your room as this will give you a Deluxe room and breakfast for 1,000 baht a night regular 2,000 baht. The buffet breakfast is full of people mostly Issan farmer types who get a free bus to the casino including the buffet so we passed on that as it didn't look too appetizing the room was fine though. We stayed two nights as we arrived at 11:20 and the consulate closes for applications at 11, got my non O multi entry visa without any problems and never bothered looking at my bank book..

  5. Like I said earlier Truevisions has chosen NDS to update the security of their systems as well as provide much better services which means the end of the current HD and PVR receivers as they really are outdated technology. When I called Truevisions they said they could not supply me with an HD capable reciever till October as they were awaiting new shipments it appears they are going to update the hardware on their systems and we will finally get caught up with the rest of the world. Hear is a copy and paste about Truevisions and then NDS who also provide this technology to Directv in the US.

C&P "TrueVisions and NDS in hybrid TV services deal

TrueVisions, Thailand's largest pay-TV operator, has signed technology provider NDS to secure and enable next-generation hybrid services for its subscribers. The solutions include NDS VideoGuard, a pay-TV security solution, which will enable TrueVisions to expand its HD services and hybrid set-top box (STB) deployment. NDS MediaHighway will lay the foundation for advanced services such as NDS XTV digital video recorder (DVR) functionality, an adaptable user experience based on the NDS EPG Framework and hybrid features including access to an IP-enabled video-on-demand (VOD) library through an in-built browser. NDS XTV DVR technology will enable subscribers to control their TV viewing through functions such as pausing live TV and rewinding, fast forwarding and playing back recorded content. TrueVisions’ dual tuner DVR will allow users to record one programme while watching another, and will enable content to be recorded securely to an external hard drive. The NDS EPG Framework will provide TrueVisions with an end-to-end solution for managing the EPG, allowing updates and customisation without having to download software to the STB. The NDS EPG Framework also enables the creation of new revenue streams from seasonal promotions, advertisements, and sponsorships within the EPG, all in HD. NDS MediaHighway will allow TrueVisions to build and test in-house interactive applications and offer new services as part of the hybrid TV experience. The TrueVisions solution will also incorporate NDS Dynamic Audience Measurement to provide accurate analysis of subscriber viewing. Thiti Nantapatsiri, managing director of TrueVisions, said: “We pride ourselves on the breadth and quality of both our international and local content, so it is important to implement market-leading technology to protect our TV offering and enhance our TV experience with next-generation services. NDS has a proven track record in securing and enabling the major pay-TV platforms around the world, so it is the natural choice, as part of TrueVisions HD, multi-play and our group’s convergence strategy.” Sue Taylor, senior VP, GM and MD Asia Pacific at NDS, added: “We are proud to be securing Thailand’s number one pay-TV platform, TrueVisions, and look forward to helping them address their needs in this rapidly changing industry. With the reassurance that its platform remains protected, TrueVisions is now able to focus on providing subscribers with best-in-class experiences through world-leading functionality and services such as VOD and DVR technology from NDS.” The first operator in Thailand to offer both cable and satellite pay-TV services, TrueVisions offers a range of options for subscribers, from basic tier to premium content, including exclusive rights to English Premier League content in Thailand, and three HD channels."

What are the channel numbers? I have True HD, and I haven't noticed any new channels!

They are probably waiting for you to phone them and confirm that you are willing to pay the extra fees for the extra channels, time to get a mortgage to be able to watch TV!

I did, told them to take it away, too expensive when I can watch all the sport I want via the Net, and alot more than was ever shown on True along with more up to date programming.

True is currently charging 490 baht for the HD channel package.

  7. True have now hired NDS to provide encryption security as well as other services they offer which will mean a huge improvement in the service they now offer. I tried signing up for the new HD channels but was told new stb's would not be available till October...As a result of their contract with NDS expect to see "real" hardware for end users not the FTA junk we've seen till now soon we will have real DVR equipment, not soon enough for me...

  8. Finally have it installed and running, so far I've tried 2 settings and it has increased power a tiny bit of the line but midway(50-70km) is where you can feel it when you floor it....and since the Mu-7 already has quite good power the increase certainly does not feel like 30% as stated on the website. For now this will do but not impressed as much as I thought I would be and as for the "racechip" company customer service they SUCK !! The last e-mail I got was where they told me I don't have a common rail motor, I've e-mailed them twice since with NO reply. What would I tell others....DON'T bother once they have your money they don't give a hoot, buy something local where you can get proper support the increase in power just isn't worth it when dealing with companies such as this...When my warranty runs out I will look for other more permanent options, thanks for all your help guys....! Time to drive to Pattaya and try some other settings....??

  9. Gents,

your engine is defentially a commonrail engine,

race-chip along with numerous other brands tend to promote the y-socket plug,

which replaces/bypass the original commonrail line connector plug.

underneath the throttle body area, you will find the common-rail line, (to identify it, you will see 4 seprate metal connections that feed from pump to injector) at the end of the commonrail you will find a socket plug, remove the socket, and bypass it with the chips (y-socket plug). simple.

as i keep mentioning, don't buy a chip that claims to be universal, as each ecu parameter and signals are different, and what might work Well for an one application, wont have the same benefit as with another application.

spend your money once, and do it the right way. no doubt you will gain the best performance comparatively.

think I might have found the connection...would it be possible that it is in the middle of the common rail and not on the end as there is a connection with the same 3 prong connection ?? I did hook it up to the cables and it fit...on the test piece the light stayed on and did not blink...I could've had a loose wire as it is pretty tight where the hook-up is and they don't leave any extra wire on the cable you need to disconnect...I did not hook up the box yet as I do not want to damage anything, does the light have to be blinking ??

Cool! I was hoping that once the automotive 'Heavy Weights' weighed in that you would get some results......am anticipating you posting your results!!

Phillipm, TransAm and MRO: Can you post any of your experiences with the results from Diesel Performance-Boost Chip installations in this engine?

With the race chip, it really is a cheap hop up but it works. If you want to go down the big money route then there is better. You can internally adjust the chip with 2 dials which l have done extensively but had engine noise increase and one engine shut down so l have come back to the factory setting which is OK. You will feel the difference for sure.

OK some will not want to tinker but l think everyone must, just to find that optimum setting. Only takes 2 minutes to adjust so no real problem. As has been stated elsewhere, if the chip fits all then l am sure tinkering is needed. My chip from factory had the wrong settings for my ride so you at least must check inside that the dials are set correctly. :)

Yes I had to go shopping to find a torx #10 to open the unit...I will see how it runs as it is set from factory ?? Then I will search for the sweet spot. Thanks for the help everyone.

  11. Hello, yes I have driven a gas powered fortuner a few years ago so I really couldn't compare. We went to the auto show last spring with the intention of buying a fortuner....luckily I took the time to compare and for me the MU-7 won, the room inside is great the wife loves the space in the back seat and on long trips she can watch a movie she uses the wireless headphones so I can still listen to music. It really does have lots of power but if I can get more...why not, that is why I purchased the racechip. Its also good on fuel and a comfortable ride. I don't know what I will do with the chip now...maybe send it back and dispute the charges or keep it and sell it at a loss...but who knows maybe it will work.

  12. Super Platinum Activo

I purchased a racechip from Germany early this week I already received it today. I made sure to clarify with the tec dept. that it would work on my MU-7 3litre VGS TURBO before my order was shipped they stated "it will work". I looked under the hood for the common rail but ??? Anyways in the instruction booklet it says to e-mail them your type of car and they would forward pics which show exactly where your connection would be so I did this...they returned my e-mail asking for pictures of my engine compartment and this is the -email returned after they received pics:

    Enclosed a marked picture.
Please look in our installation guide, there must be a common rail in the
marked are.
But it seems like that you do not have an common-rail engine.Although they did mark one of the pics it is of no use as there is NOT a common rail there then they say it appears I do not have a common rail engine ?? Can anyone help ?? If this plug is in an area that is really difficult to get to it will be of no use as it needs to be removed every 5,000 km for warranty servicing

I had been 'leaning' (no pun intended') towards buying this brand before posting this topic but then I realized that I had not read of any other MU-7 owners posting the use of a Diesel Performance Chip and wanted some feedback.

According to the brochure and other posters, this engine uses common rail technology. If the chip retailer has to ask 'you' the customer, I suspect they don't make a chip with the connectors for the engine and / or (my speculation) don't make a chip for this engine because of some inherent mechanical deterrence from the mfgr?

Do you have a Gold, Platinum or Titanium model?

  14. Just went to the Thai consulate in Wall center Vancouver today explained to them that I am awaiting paperwork from the Thai court stating I am legally the father of my son (my girlfreind and I are not married) ,so I can get a non O visa, I explained that I already went to the court etc now just waiting for the paperwork...I said I might need 6 month tourist visa,so she gave me a receipt for 0 dollars and tomorrow I pick up a 3 entry tourist visa.

  15. Went to court on Monday with regards to other charges I filed against Nee for stealing money from my brother...and selling his harley...the judge informed methat she was already serving the strictest sentence possible...I filed these charges just in case she got off and to hinder any attempts for an appeal bail...also if I have legal fees to pay so does she...if I cannot get my brothers money back I will make sure she spends it...Anyways another hearing is set for Monday Sept. 14, 2009 and will be the last appearance for Nee as she has been held in Ranong Jail till court is finished after the next hearing she is being moved to Nakon Si Thamarat to start serving her sentence in her new home...I dont know what we will be able to accomplish but at least we can ask her again nicely what she has done with the assets...I think this will be the end of the court battles but who knows...After having to sit through her smiles and laughter and stealing everything from my brother whilst I could do nothing but wait for the court it will be nice to see her come into the court room as a sentenced convict...I doubt she will be smiling this time....

  16. As far as I can read she should lose all rights to my brothers estate.

Comercial and Civil Code of Thailand

    Book VI-Succession

    Title 1

    General Provisions

    Chapter II

    Heirship

Section 1606. The following are excluded from succession as being unworthy:

    (1) the person who is convicted by final judgement of having wrongfully and intentionally caused the death or attempted to cause the death of the de cujus orof a person having prior right to the succession.

I have showed this law to my lawyer in thai and english as he had previously told me she would still get half...he won't budge....could this be a loss of face thing?? Am I miss interpeting the law ?? It does seem quite clear...

  17. Thanks for the translation...and again sorry for not posting much but it is difficult to get my phone to load a full page of posts...The Harley or any assets have not been recovered as of yet...IHave a hearing on Sept 7 and then we will schedule another hearing which Nee will be required to attend...My lawyer is still saying she is entitled to half even though I have repeatedly pointed out the thai law in book 5 sucesscion which would exclude her due to her involvment in my brothers death...if anyone here really knows thai law could you fill me in...Thanks,

  18. Thanks for all the encouragement...I would be more active in posting responses but both of my laptops have decided to pack it in and now I am left using my phone...a little small and time consuming which is why my first post in this thread is so brief...Thank-you to all the moderators, members ...this site has been a great tool box of information as well as support...you have no idea the emotions some of these posts have stirred...I don't think I've done anything over and above what most of you would have done if it was one of your loved ones...
