  1. Yes getting FTTH, I have 3BB now and they did something similar, they just drilled a hole in the front and ran the line exposed.

This time prefer it to be pre-wired where they can just connect the line to a junction box from outside if that is even possible.

  2. Is there company that can run fiber optic lines in my house? Basically want to run from front where the line will come in, to a room in the back where I want to place my modem/router. Prefer to hide the wires in the ceiling if possible.

Thought I saw a thread a while ago but can't find it.

    House in Laksi, thanks.

  3. I use TA extensively and have found it to be a good source of info. It's not perfect, but it's something I look at. I also contribute extensively.

I ignore reviewers with only a few posts. I tend to find the worst reviews are about some silly thing. Last hotel I was in, in Stockholm, had some really bad reviews. Why? The bathrooms were small, and overall, the hotel is small...and in a nautical theme. True, but the property was absolutely fantastic and the bathrooms in the rooms for 2 people were a bit larger. And we loved the nautical theme and quirky nature of the hotel. So you have to dig deeper to see if the review is important for what you are looking for. In the end, I ignored the reviews and had a wonderful time in a great property.

I'm really sad TA didn't deal with your issue. This is one of the big problems they have. Somebody does 2 reviews, one bashes and another praises. Seems a setup to me. Again, I just ignore these. Or ones where they say they have problems which seem to have been of their own making. One hotel I stay at in Bangkok gets bad reviews because it's hard to find. Go figure....

Like craig I use TA regularly and also contribute, I have seen a lot of hotels both here and overseas getting very positive reviews from people with only one or two reviews. These I mostly ignore because it's obvious that they are fake, some even post pics that you can tell are set up, this is same with the bad reviews.

At the end of the day I use TA enough to know the real reviews from the fake.

  4. I dont believe what I am reading! When I shop in any big store here the checkout personnel sometimes put 1 item in a bag and then go on putting 2 bags on anything liquid. I estimate they use twice as many bags as necessary and you want me to pay 5 baht a bag. No Chance!

Even if you buy an 8 x 4 sheet of plywood they tape a bag on it despite it being the only item you are buying and have a receipt. It is nonsense to suggest shoppers are responsible for using too many bags. TRAIN THE STAFF!

The other problem is if you walk into a Do Home they will not let you in with a bag at all! We have visited the same Do Home at least a hundred times and they still treat us like common thieves. I recently went in with an item they sold me which had a major part missing from the box. The door staff saw me come in and go straight to returns. It was all sorted and they replaced it. I put the bag with the receipts in my trolley and headed in. The same staff stopped me saying I cant take the bag or item in. I showed him the receipt but he still stopped me saying he would hold onto the item until I leave. Stupid idiot. I refuse to shop there anymore until they publicly declare they have fully and properly trained their staff.

I was at the supermarket at The Mall Ngamwongwan, bought 5 different things that could've been put in one, instead they put in 4 bags and one double. I told them to just put it one bag, but just smiled.

  5. Airline: Etihad

    Ticket Price: 150,000
How Purchased (direct, agent, wholesaler, etc): Agent
    Dates: May 2015
Class of Service: Business and First
    Route: BKK-LHR-BKK
    Aircraft Type: 777 and A380
    Seat Configuration (i.e. 3/4/3) 2/2/2 and 1/1
    Stopover City (If any): AUH
Check-in Location (good or bad?): good
    Immigration (good or bad?): good
Excess Bag Fees (if any): nil
    Lounges Used: BKK, AUH, LHR
    Limo Service Provided: yes
    In-flight Entertainment: average
In-flight Cabin Service (good or bad?): Business average First excellent
Seat Comfort: Business poor, First excellent
    Food Quality: good
    On Time Performance: good
Comments: First off, I got a special price thru my credit card. Business on 777 from BKK-AUH-BKK average at best, old aircraft with uncomfortable seats. From BKK-AUH my seat didn't recline all the way, had to mess with the seat for about 10 mins to finally get it to properly recline. The in flight entertainment system along with headsets did not working properly. Service is just average, nothing spectacular.

First class on the A380 apartments is a whole different story, everything top notch with excellent over the top service. Nothing bad to say.

Had limo service in BKK they were very professional and punctual, but he cars where old early 2000's 5 series and E-Class but clean and water was provided, however I did see another passenger arrive in a brand new E-Class. Limo in London was a new model 7 Series no refreshments provided and the car was bit dirty. Driver kept reaching down to grab a bag and was snacking most of the time, which felt unprofessional.

Etihad does not have a lounge in BKK and used Thai Airways lounge which I thought was not that great. Lounge in AUH and LHR were good.

Inflight entertainment felt very limited compared to Thai and Emirates.

Overall had better experience flying Business with Emirates, don't think I would fly Etihad again.

  6. Easiest way to call and book thru the airline directly, give them the dates you will travel and they will will give a booking confirmation. You can use this when applying for a visa.

No need to pay a travel agency to "book" a ticket. You will not need to pay anything until the ticket is actually issued, they will give a deadline but it's only because the fare might change.

My girlfriend works for an international airline here and does this all the time when she need to get a visa.

  7. Anyone use or know of them? I have never heard of this brand before, but supposed to be a European brand from Netherlands. Was recommended these from a shop as alternative to Michelin PSS, they say quality is just as good but cheaper.

  8. One thing a lot of people seem to ignore is that when the motorcycle overtook the OP he crossed lanes into opposing traffic, which would be illegal so in this case motorcycle would be wrong.

Something similar happened to my GF, she was at a stop light waiting for light to turn green, motorcycle was lane splitting and when the light turned green she accelerated and didn't seem him and hit the motorcycle. Guy on motorcycle blamed her because he was hit, insurance and police was called and both placed the blame on motorcycle because lane splitting in Thailand is illegal.

  9. Yeah already have it, actually did talk to the place that sells them and they sent some over, but I didn't like them. They quoted installation off the actual site instead of the plans, which are different.

Sorry forgot to mention that located in Nonthaburi, near The Mall Ngamwongwan.

  10. Ok, so just went to Piyanas and they told me that Oppo is changing their distributor but don't when it will done. They will be getting more stock but it will probably take a while.

They recommend I look at the Pioneer LX58 which is basically the same as the Oppo 103 but 1,000 thb cheaper. They had a sample set up and I gotta say the picture quality and sound is pretty impressive and I ended up ordering this one instead.

  11. These guys seem to have them in stock whenever I visit: http://www.piyanas.com/?page_id=790

    I bought mine from Piyanas.

Thanks, gave them a call and also out of stock and aren't sure if they will get anymore. They told me Oppo may not make anymore players.

They recommended I try Pioneer and told me picture quality was just as good if not better than Oppo, but its 10k thb more.

Anyone use Pioneer and is it worth it?

  12. Like most I have been a PC user for years before deciding to switch to a MacBook Pro. For me it Mac OS is much more user friendly and faster in general.

A friend of mine bought an Asus notebook with similar specs and after a year it just takes forever to boot up, and is just plain slow and updates take forever to install.

My MacBook Pro has been going strong, and haven't had any problems. I for one wouldn't go back to PC, just much more simpler.

  13. Used it recently and found it very, very slow - surprisingly so for a professional website. It did work in the end though. It was just slow.

Agreed, when I use my phones 3G connection no problems, but with 3BB same issue, it loads but very, very slow.

  14. I have been having problems for about a week, very slow speeds but at times it works good. Called them today and they asked me if I was downloading or uploading anything, because their test shows both download and upload was almost at the full 30/3 speeds.

According to them I was using more bandwidth than a most Internet cafes, which really surprised me. They are going to send a tech out to see what the problem is.
