Would just like to say that yesterday afternoon I went to my bank, Bank of Ayudhya , Sukhumvit Road, Pattaya, and sent home 650,000 baht. Everything was carried out extremely professionally and smoothly. I was not asked for a work permit or why I was sending the money home. The commission was 1,700 baht.
I checked my bank account this morning and the money is there, so very pleased with the whole process.
-
Just show the bank your work permit and it's no problem to send money home.
Correct...no issue of course you need to put on the form "family support/expenses"
That's good news to know it won't be a problem. Family support means a lot to Thais, so I'll remember to put that on the form. Thank you very much.

Has anyone sent money back to your home country, and did you have any problems with your Thai bank?

Considering Christmas is not celebrated here I do not understand why anyone would think the government offices would be closed. As far as I know they will close on 31 December as NYE is a holiday here and also 1st of January which might then include Monday as a extra day.
You really should get your facts right before posting something like this. You could have had people turning up on Christmas Day/Boxing Day only to find the office closed, and possibly causing them to be fined for overstay etc.

Looked at the menu and it's far too expensive. Also, they've just put the prices up on nearly all their chippy menu.

Thanks for that KhunDave. This is the third day now and still can't access Etihad, I'll go to Emirates now instead.

Hi
I've been trying for two days now to view flights on Etihad website but am unable to access it. Just keep getting "The connection was reset". Not having any problems with any other site. Just wondered if anybody else was having a problem with this website.

It's the same with Si Racha. A lot of foreigners will say see-rarch-a instead of see-ra-char.

Thanks for your suggestions, guys. I'm actually doing it from the HP Deskjet printer installation disc, and like I said before it just gets to 'set-up detecting printer' and then it stops.

Hi all
Can anybody come up with any suggestions here. I have an HP Deskjet 3745 printer (Ok it's a cheapie but it suits my needs ). Anyway, for the last couple of days it has refused to print, just putting documents in a queue. So I decided to uninstall it and then reinstall, which I have done 3 or 4 times when I have had problems. However, this time it won't install. It gets as far as "may take a few moments for set-up to detect the printer" and then it stops.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Hi all
Did a search and found it on www.geocities.com/spider so downloaded it from there.
Thanks for your replies.

Better to pay 200 bt than Taxi Prices.
The price has gone up since they first started probably due to word getting around and a lot more people using it, still good value for money though.
Yes, 200 baht is fine by me, but they now have competition from the new bus service in Jomtien which is only 124 baht to the airport.

Hi guys
Thanks for your replies. I'm not getting anywhere with it, so I guess I'll have to take it back to the shop.
Cheers

Are they still charging 150 baht?
200 baht now.

Hi all,
I love to play Spider Solitaire, but recently I had to have new Windows installed, and now when I try to play Spider Solitaire I get the following:
C:/WINDOWS/system32/spider.exe Only part of a ReadProcessMemory or WriteProcessMemory was completed.
Does anybody know what I can do?
Thanks.

They drop you off right outside departures, in the same area as a taxi would. No problems.
Thanks a lot, Syd.

Hi all
I'm thinking of using Bell Travel shortly to take me to the airport. Can anybody tell me if they drop you off where the taxis drop you off, or do they have a special drop off point. Don't want to have a long walk back to the airport.
Thanks.

$$$ Chang Beer Update $$$
Friendship Supermarket (Pattaya Tai) has a limited time offer on large Chang beer: 36 baht per bottle or 432 baht per case.
Considering that the 7-11 and Family Mart price is 42 baht or 504 baht per case substantial savings can be made if you act swiftly and stock your fridges and larders.
UPDATE
It is still selling for 36 baht per (large) bottle in Friendship (August 1st 2009).
Don't forget that Chang won the worldwide coveted 'Golden Medal' the AIBA award, still advertised on the bottles neck sticker.
Cheers!
I like a drop of Chang myself, Syd. Glad to hear they are keeping the price down.

just turn on the thai TV channels, they're TV stars, pop stars, models ...
There might be an odd one or two but they will have to have something special, and I guess come from an influential background.
Must admit I've never seen one doing a regular job here in Pattaya.

Assuming your AVG is a legal copy, go to the AVG Website and contact support. I'm sure they can help more than we can. Report back when you get their solution.
Thanks Mrjih.
Have got AVG Free, so not much support for this only a free support forum and can't find an answer to my problem.
If I don't get any joy on here will try avast as suggested by Ignis.

OP, While I agree his behavior is childish, rude and disrespectful, and not excusing it your actions are just causing as much commotion as his childish antics as well you are also causing this cafe to potentially lose a long time faithful customer who has probably spent more money with them than you have or probably will in the future as well..
The guy is probably stressed all day and has few simple pleasures, one of which is starting off his stressful day with a simple favored stool location or as another poster mentioned maybe even OCD and then he has to deal with some self righteous expat retiree (even worse if your not full time) who has just as little consideration as he does, I don't see how your actions should be applauded anymore than his. While he may be an arrogant bully who probably deals with likewise expats all day long you are an inconsiderate antagonist with no less childish behavior IMO... Your "winding him up" as you put it, is every bit as rude and childish and does not elevate you like you think it does...
Is this our guy?
Why the incrimination's? Is it because I dare to differ and not to jump on the bashing bandwagon and take a more pragmatic and compassionate point of view?? Without reading this entire thread of <deleted> I noticed at least one other poster at the top of the page take the same tact as me, is he your guy?
After reading this post I'm convinced it's him

Can any of you computer wizards out there give me some advice please? I have an Acer laptop and had AVG 7.5 installed for a long time without any problems, then I got notification of a new edition 8.5 and would I like to install it, so I did. For the first two days as it was scanning it was virtually impossible to use mylaptop as it was so slow and I kept getting the big eggtimer. On the third day it scanned up to 365350 items and then stopped and everything crashed so I had to switch off manually.
I then decided to uninstall 8.5 and go back to 7.5 but then the 7.5 would not update and advised me to install 8.5 which is obviously no good for my laptop. So then I decided to install 8.0 but this one crashed and gave me a plain hazy grey screen and I had to switch off manually again.
I have now uninstalled AVG 8.0 from my laptop and don't know where to go from here.
Would appreciate any help.
Thanks.

Transfering Money To Uk
in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments

I transferred 650,000 baht last week from my account at Bank of Ayudhya. A little bit of form filling but no questions asked as to where it came from or why I wanted to transfer it.
I did it in the afternoon, and the following morning I checked my UK bank account online and it was there. The fee was 1,700 baht.
