You know, would be cool keep in your pocket a 10x zoom 16 mp camera. You don't know how many times I regret don't have a camera with me, or in my car.
Of course the quality will be the same of a point-and-shoot, but better than any smartphone.
Phone capabilities? More than enough for me. Just the screen, IMHO, is a bit small (256 pixel x inch and only 960x540) but larger than many cameras.

If I remember right, around 18.000 Baht

Just see this new gadget from Samsung:
Wow, for me, having a decent camera always in my pocket could be great!
Here is a report:

What do you think?
Somebody already has it?

Thank you everybody for the nice words and appreciation for my pictures.
To be clear I'm not a professional photographer but just a passionate 'dilettante'. I have a completely different business.
On purpose the aperture was set at 5.6 to blur the background and enhance the image of the cobra. Technique I always use to photograph the butterflies.
After hundred and hundred of Kms through jungle and forests, this was my very first encounter with a Cobra, so I have to admit it was just luck. Right time right place
Of course I'll follow to post my pictures in our Forum, as many other members, check:

can you give us some technical info on your camera for the Cobra photo? Camera body, lens type and focal length, mono pod? I see it looks like a shallow depth of field so I am thinking you are at the end of your zoom and maybe shooting wide open or close to it?
Canon 6D - Sigma Macro 150/2.8 OS iso 2000 1/320 f5.6 exposure -1.0ev fill flash (Canon 580ex ii Speedlite), distance 1/1.50 mt, Autofocus center point AI servo.

Ah ah. Maybe balls, but mostly was the will to get a good pic. If you could see most of the 20 pics i shot are blurred, shaken, not straight.
After the first pics thru the viewfinder, I just push the camera closer with my arms, without actually get closer with my head and body. Hihi.
Then when satisified, just go away, understanding I was shaking a bit for the emotion (fear?)

Today they were working, 2 makro operating, but my guess (and local Thai too) is that will necessary a couple of more years to be ready.

Thank you for the many compliments.
It was years I was trying to find a Cobra in the wild.
An amazing area of wilderness still left in KPG, I don't know for how long.
Today I'll be beck there

Today, thanks to the nice weather, I visit a nice large patch of primary rainforest left in Koh Phangan, looking for some nice shot. I just got a few shots of a not-so-common butterfly:
The Banded Royal - หางคู่แถบหนา
When, with my periferic vision I saw something like a snake tail. Just getting close and the animal jump out like this:
King Cobra .
Brrr. Just a bit of panic, and then shooting with my camera, trying to get as close as possible, without really understand how much could be dangerous. It was a young King Cobra, possibly aroun1.8/2 mt.
After one long minute I turned 180 and went away AFAP...- 44

I put milk cream in the Carbonara just because foreign customers are expecting a creamy pasta.

I'll tell everybody a secret:
I put milk cream in the Carbonara just because foreign customers are expecting a creamy pasta.
Absolutely we never use it back in Italy.
Just an egg mixed with plenty of fresh grated Parmigiano and black pepper.
Fried bacon (or real pancetta) and then stir fried for a 30" with the al dente cooked spaghetti, then close the fire and mix in the pan with the egg++.
Not too strong, not too soft.
Buon appetito!

I drifted for 7 hours once, at night, northern Queensland, crocs, sharks, stingers, made the shore and crawled one km through the scrub,to a caravan park, i was beyond exhausted and my skin didn't look so healthy, and no pretty nurse waiting..lol, 23C water temp, yet i was shaking from the cold, muscles all pulled tight, water in the lungs, went under several times but regained consciousness, the longest battle of my life so far, only thoughts of my children pulled me through and gave me strength to hold on, i begged to God for something drifting to cling onto, didn't happen, that experience changed my entire life, glad he made it.
What a story!
Bravo to fight and win for your survival.

It sounded as though it came from Koh Som.
How unbelievably selfish some people are.
I'm in agreement with TropEvo we need an HRH visit to put a stop to it.
We could cut the power line to KPG.
And for retaliation we will send in Samui an army of thousand and thousand of smelly, noisy, dreadlocked, old hippies, without a Baht and begging door to door villas and business...
