This crap is starting to become un-controllable. Something needs to be done.

Critics pointed out that MPs, as public figures and lawmakers, are expected to exemplify legal and ethical conduct. 🤣

I was in Phuket last year and the island is now one big garbage heap, people seem to keep on traveling to Phuket but it was such a pale shadow of what it was when I was last there 10 years ago. It was absolutely overflowing with low end Malaysians, Arabs, Indians and especially the spectacularly unpleasant Russians, no thanks I never need to go back.
The traffic was an abomination, everything was overpriced, Bangla Road was utterly horrific with barely an attractive woman in sight, and the entire place just reeked. No wonder Phuket is having so many problems.
Why anyone even wants to go there anymore is a puzzle. I have Thai friends who ran small businesses there move out because they can't stand it either.

Worries about abduction might not be the only reason for favouring Japan as a destination over Thailand. I went to Japan for holiday a few times recently and it was such a pleasure breathing fresh, clean air. I could clearly see Mt. Fuji from Tokyo, a few hundred kms away. The Japanese respect laws, don't throw trash everywhere, don't burn fields, and they recycle. I love Thailand, but those are clearly areas for major improvement if Thailand wants to attract quality tourists.
I was thinking the same thing, and agree. 👍

Interesting that most of the Vaping paraphernalia here in the US comes from Thailand.

I think at this point the vast majority would prefer we stay in our countries and wire them money each month without ever having to see us.
Just what I've been thinking for years.

Is this NOT what the Thai Government wanted? free visa, talk of lifting the BAN on ALCOHOL SALES, To get more tourists in and get them happy drunk. then complain that only BAD FARANGS.coming to THAILAND.
Yeah, what they really want is for tourists to come to Thailand, rent a expensive hotel room, only come out of the room to eat an expensive meal, go to a designated ATM machine set up by the Govt, deposit a few thousand baht, then go back to the hotel and back to your room. Easy Peasy money.

I'm sorry, but I was under the impressions that Thaksin wanted to come home to be with his grandchildren. Is his grandchildren in Narathiwat?

Thailand will wish they had this problem in the future, when it will no longer be considered a cool destination for young people. Thailand will be recognized as a major polluter and contributor to the climate change narrative with the rest of Asia
The majority of tourists come to Thailand to party. They can easily go somewhere else.

On the face of it no Buddhist precept broken. Must be more to this story.
Except, being photographed with the girl cheek to cheek, really no precept broken, but the Monks do have a rule about being alone with a woman.. although not sure they were alone. But again, was he a monk when this photo was taken.

But Vietnam, Singapore and the Phillipines seem to handle it rather well.

Pretty sure being photo'd with a woman isn't a civil offense. "Potential harsher charges could emerge if further evidence surfaces."

It's a pretty sad state of affairs, when your tourism dollars are reliant on alcohol sales.

Exactly all our countries take in Thai's and let them work and this how they treat us in their country. We're just getting played at this point by letting them immigrate without full reciprocity in Thailand.
I was just going to make this same point.

Every time you see a photo of Thaksin, his daughter, the PM, is in the background.. this should give you a clue on his importance.

I remember living in a small village in Northern Lopburi, the residents there was all eager for some election or another going to happen, because they were guaranteed a 500 baht note for their votes.
