That is the date the SSA transfers the money so that it will be available on the 28th. Did you get yours this month?

Same for those that are paid on the 3rd that are sent on the 2nd unless the 3rd falls on a holiday or weekend. For this month they will be sent on the 30th since the 3rd falls on a Monday.

Mine aways is deposited 4th wednesday of each month.

    didn't come this month.

I'm in a world of hurt after motor bike accident.

Surely most people saw the writing on the wall and topped their Thai bank accounts up to cover the Baht 800,000 bank balance requirement. You have to laugh at the people who purposely live month to month because they don't think it's safe to keep money in a Thai bank or because they're earning a couple percent more by keeping their money in a bank in Old Blighty or one of the shaky European banks.

In any event, I'm pretty sure most of us spend more than Baht 65,000 a month without being labelled "rich."  That's only about GBP 1500 a month or £18,000 a year.  If you can't muster that maybe you should return to the embrace of the nanny state. You could get on the waiting list for a council flat.

I don't spend that much.  Sometimes I do - admitted.  I live in Issan.

  3. I've had a couple British friends here - very nice.  Most seem to not like me because I say tomato and you say tomato.

    Very strange.

Would they all be speaking german now if americans hadn't helped ?

I never knew about Brits disliking Americans until I came to Thailand.  We welcome British with open arms in America.

  4. So I can obtain the affidavit of income and take that to immigration in Thailand ?

I don't have to go to Vientiane ?

Yes - I have a NON O visa and retirement extension.  Expires November 17th.

I was planning to obtain another affidavit of income in Udon on Nov 4th.

Now as I understand it - I just come back to Ubon and go to the immigration office here with the affidavit of income.

    Thank you so much.

  5. When in Rome be like a Roman. Go native on the furniture. Purchase a mattress in country if required.

As others have said bring extra of everything clothing wise. Fit/style/quality/price/selection is different in Thailand than in the US. You will likely visit home annually anyway that will be you opportunity to restock.

Bring in quantity any health care items you prefer and use frequently: prescriptions, otc medicines (Pepto), otc personal (contact solution) and a whole bunch of condoms (LOL).

  6. Americans are believed because we pay Social Security. I consider it my money - I paid in since I was 15. I hope I live long enough to get it all back. The average Social Security benefit is well above the 65,000 Bt needed for reirement visa.

I Know nothing about UK or other retirement schemes.

  7. I am not on retirement extentions, but surely this is something Thai authorities could take into consideration over the Brexit issue.

Thailand could easily instruct all their IOs to allow for this. But they won't and that's another reason why we are not "guests" in this country.

Why should Thailand change or ignore its rules specifically to accommodate one country.

Do citizens of the USA have to prove their earnings, or can they just simple write a letter stateing they do receive ex-amount?

  8. Once i stayed at a hotel in Maha Sarakhom - apparently they were not reporting ( 5 months ).

It was somewhat of a problem when I then did the OA extension.

When I moved to Udon the owner of the Mansion here was requested to come to the immigration office and sign something ( was very fast but ? )

I am hoping to make things easy and just stay at a hotel until I can find a monthly rental.

    Thanks in advance

  9. Something I didn't know for many years = The King of Thailand loves dogs.

    I also love dogs.

I was a paper boy - been bitten many many times :-)

No dog will bite me now. I wouldn't care anyway.

Dogs are mans best friend. I realize many people ( including Thai ) have fear.

Very hard to get past your fear of a dog.

Laughs - the smart ones hang out in front of 7/11 because of the air conditioning.

  10. I'm just trying to understand the rules - if I want to move to an apartment. Maybe can BBQ and stuff.

Maybe it's easier than I think.

I'm good to go here at the hotel and pretty happy ( 6,000 Bt per month ). I have a motor bike and can find the food I want.

I just am dreaming of a larger fridge and a BBQ and maybe more channels on the TV ( and maybe better internet connection ).

    Anyway, no rush.

Not so easy up here in Maha Sarakhom as hardly anyone can speak English. I rarely see falang. My Thai is just OK.

Why people like pattaya is beyond me. Maybe just a stage in life.

I highly recommend Maha Sarakhom. Whatever your looking for is here - and more. however you will need a motor bike or car.

Thanks so much. Exactly what I was wanting to know.

It's been 10 years since I've been to pattaya - maybe take my girl for a visit down there to see.

Anyway, I'm just conserned about moving out of the hotel and my 90 day report stuff.

If your moving to a new address, there is a procedure to follow.

    1. Make sure your new landlord will supply you with a lease, a copy of their ID card, a copy of their Tabian Baan. Signed and contact number.

It is these documents you will need in the future, so make copies for yourself.

    2. Complete a TM28 (change of address)

3.The landlord should complete a TM30 (report of alien staying at residence)

    Take the following documents with the above forms to your Immigration Office.;

    Original Passport

Passport Homepage showing given names / Passport Number / Hologram etc.

    - Last Visa

    - Last Extension stamp

    - Last Entry Stamp

Copy of House owners Tabian Ban

Copy of House owners ID card.

Original Rental Agreement + Copy (If rented)

    Map detailing Address + Copy

Original TM 6 Departure Card + Copy

Once Immigration change your address on their database, you should ask them for a Certificate of Residence.

As you have a motorcycle and I presume a Driving Licence, you should then update your licence showing the new address.

Go to you local Driving Licence Centre and take the following documents.

    1. Passport + Copy of Homepage + Copy of Extension.

    2. Existing Thai Licence + Copy

    3. Health Certificate + Copy

    4. Proof of Address: Certificate of Residence + Copy

    5. The Fee

(A Driving Licence is often accepted as a form of ID. It contains your name, ID number, and your address on the rear.)

You are now up to date with your documents.

Future 90 day reports can be made in person, by mail, or depending when you last entered Thailand, online via internet.

Please advise me of your preferred method and I'll post the procedure and documents required.
