  1. I am afraid the time has come to depart Pattaya,we shall return next May for our 5 month sojoun.

I have a particularly bulky case, which looks as though it could pop open at anytime, and could do with some sort of strapping to secure it.

Has anyone any suggestions where I could obtain some thing like webbing straps around 6 feet long ?

Failing that ideas regarding any other methods of securing it e.g belts etc ?

  2. Why don't you ask the Jomtien boathose or Captains corner? :o

BTW Captains corner and Jomtien Boathouses owner was the key figure in the charity events that raised cash to provide schooling and a bit of financial stability for Ballards daughter so they can't be all bad can they?

    :D

I never suggested they were bad,at all.

I indeed purchased 3 x 500B tickets to take myself and 2 friends to the 'do' at the

    Boathouse on 16th. August.

I just feel it a little thoughtless not to recognise the new scheme of things, and a bit demeaning too for the 'new' Elvis.

  3. Anyone know the whereabouts of my old pal 'Rockin' Ron of JR Travel just close to the Shagger Bar at Jomtien?

They are still mentioned on the Pattaya Ex-Pats website as providing visa runs ,but a visit to his former premises finds them full of builders preparing them for some new type of business venture.

Just wondered if he had moved elsewhere or packed it in. anyone know ? :o

  4. Elvis Ballard, one of, if not THE greatest Elvis impersonator in Thailand, died very unforunately of cancer some months ago.

Is there any good reason therefore why his picture is still being used by the Jomtien Boathouse and Captains Corner to advertise their weekly Elvis nights (now in the good care of Elvis Arthur) on site, on Pattaya People Television and in local newspapers.

I find it rather bizarre and disrespectful, and possibly upsetting for his family.

On the subject of Pattaya People TV some of their adverts, before during and after the news are so old, crummy ,out of date and repetetive that they have no effect whatsoever anymore.

There is one where an Asian couple have difficulty finding the right end of a telescope which is shown 3 or 4 times each session and advertises nothing at all, what's that all about ??

    Happy Days :o:D

  5. There was a storm surge predicted for late August that never happened - obviously because of the 499 Buddhist priests who offered prayers against it!

(It was in the main newspapers as well as on a number of Pattaya boards.)

The map below shows the areas expected to be affected by a serious storm surge in the Gulf of Thailand, and Pattaya seems to be just safe - not sure how accurate the map is, though.

    You can't argue with that then.maps,diagrams , the lot.Well researched !

  6. and thirded....takes from lay-out approved (by you) to finished cards some 20 minutes.

Also good place at top of the escalator on the left as you enter Tesco Lotus ,Sukhumvit/Threppasit junction.

500 B. per 100 ,colour printed ,good quality card, both sides.

  7. As much I appreciate the cooler temps, the daily grey and afternoon/evening rain is just annoying. I might be worng, but last years it was different. Some heavy rains sometimes, but not every day!

Driving back from work at Rayong this early evening it was kind of a nightmare. Constant flashes, heavy rain, max speed on 36 was about 50 km/h, took me much more than 1 hr.

Hope the weekend gets drier, except for myself :-)

    Cheers

We are lucky today mate it's tipping it down this morning, since 645 am, and Cable TV has gone off. Oh,and by the way it was just the same last night from 545 pm onwards, avec much thunder and lightening.

They do say the dams/reservoirs were very low and we do need it, and since we arrived in mid-May the rainy season has not been so rainy, perhaps we were overdue.

Good to be alive though Eh ?

    :o:D

  8. Anyone any idea why there has been no Sophon Cable service for the last 12-15 hours?

It carried on after the big bolt of lightening that put the electricity off around 130pm yesterday

    but then disappeared !

I Want to hear about Murrays victory, and Hamiltons robbery on BBC World.

    :o:D

If you paid your bill there would be no problem :D

Localised problem, called in their Office at 830 am (on the way to Foodland) and fixed by the time I got home !

I thought it was a free service, didn't realise a fee was involved .

    :D:D

  10. Yes there is a scholls dealer in the outlet mall nest to Tesco south, there is also a hush puppies dealer and a Doc Martens

Thanks for that, went today and got him some inserts. Also bought myself a smashing pair of flip flops with a detachable inner sole

for B.380 reduced from B450,far better than Crocs, and a third of the price !

    :o

  11. there are many wrought iron workers around, a number of houses in my village have had decorative scroll security grills fitted, best on the inside so they cannot be removed which I have seen happen.

    Thanlks for your replies

As someone said, I will build where I want. ( Thanks for supporting me).

I like the idea of scroll blinds but think they will be too expensive for me at present. I wil look at the decorative wrought iron option when i am there. I worked in security in the Uk and know a bit about it but now where to source in Pattaya. i'll have a look when I am there.

    cheers.

There are several metalwork workshops on Threppasit roasd who make window grilles.

They also fabricate moveable metal grilles for inside sliding

    glass doors.

  12. A good friend of ours has developed a painful foot problem which seems like fallen arches.

Is there a Dr Scholls shop or similar in Pattaya where we could buy him some sort of support.

Better still are there any chiropodists or that P word that Yanks use for them in the area ?

    Hoping you can help. :o:D

  13. We read a lot in the local papers and television, especially Pattaya People, about local stabbings and shootings.

It also seems that many Thai males are 'tooled up' when stopped and searched on routine matters.e.g no helmet, overladen etc.

In fact this type of crime appears more prevalent week by week.

What we don't read are follow up court reports, and I just question what type of sentences these guys are getting to deter them and others from repeating this type of offence ?

    :o:D

  14. I see people missing an eye, leg or more on the streets. Those people I give some Baht, no one else.

and this is why so many beggars have to give their eyes, legs & more to their mafia bosses......this way they earn more baht from people like you. listen to the king...never give money to a beggar!

Could be Glitter ,and a test, £1m. if you help !!

    Maybe not , though !!

    Happy Sunday :o

  15. 5) useful to wrap fish in... but only the fish that is so bad even my cat wont eat it :-)

Seriously - I dont like papers that talk down to people, not even if those people are bar girls or the tourists who are there to visit them.

To me its strange to call something Walkingstreet Journal, and then talk down to the people who visit and work on walkingstreet.

Cut into squares and hang in the Carsey (Khazi) it's very lavatorial anyway !
