On the other side of the Friendship Bridge at Nongkhai you can get a "Tuktuksongthaew" - couple of years ago went to Vientiane and back for 500 Baht and the guy waited while we ate, drank and shopped.

Local colour - they drive on the right, and we stopped on the way to pick up a bunch of giggling schoolgirls to supplement the driver's income.

Not the quickest, but possibly the nicest way to do it.

I took Taximeter, asked driver NOT to use expressways etc.

Cost the magnificent sum of 170 Baht, it was at 0630 hrs.

From the airport at normal hours, I used shuttle and bus 552 (I think) 32 baht, stops at Sukhumvit, Soi 16, across Sukhumvit Rd from hostel, also rite near Skytrain, BTS, and Metro, MRT,get anywhere from there.

CBD, Victory monument is only 35 baht, once in city get Taximeter, so cheap.

Ya gotta be a titewad like me......LOL... ......love Bangers.

Not knowing exactly where you will be coming from, taxi if early, should be best bet.

Last time I took shuttle and an aircon minibus for 60 B to Rachadamnoen Klang.

My wife flew with them 2 years ago, direct flight Munich to BKK, but had to go via Düsseldorf on the return, so she was less than impressed by having to wait there with a kid for a Lufthansa flight back to Munich.

Now it's back with Thai, ethnic Sawasdee tarif, good price, good everything - smiles and they speak her language.

I recommend Skyways travel agent in Munich. Spend an hour one on one to find you best date/ price.
