  1. Also you have to think who was actually available to take over....

Guardiola already commited to Bayern,Mourinho almost certain to return to Chelsea.

That leaves the likes of Laudrup,Di Matteo,Clarke,Martinez or Klopp who would be just as big,or an even bigger, gamble than Moyes.

Mourinho would almost certainly bring short term success but if there was a season where United were lying fourth or fifth he'd be off,the same as at his other clubs.......but good for Chelsea as they will have two or three good years ahead.

  2. United should have got rid of Rooney three years ago when he threw his toys out of the pram and was supposed to be joining City for 50m.

I doubt if they will get half that now.Rooney is 27 and should be at his peak but he's nothing like as good as when he was 18.He's overweight and cumbersome and his lifestyle has caught up with him.

SAF....fantastic achievements as a manager at United and, also,at Aberdeen where he broke up the old firm monopoly and won the Cup Winners Cup by beating Real Madrid in 1983.

In the last 40 years or so only Paisley,Shankly and Dalglish can begin to come close to matching his managerial record, imo.

  3. Surely Webbs last game in a United shirt......he has been poor for a couple of seasons now......time to bring in Clattenburg !laugh.png

Sending off Rafael when you are 1-0 down must be the last straw.Webb could have redeemed himself by sending off Luiz instead and awarding United a penalty !

But United.....no De Gea,Ferdinand,Kagawa or Rooney.....the first three have been amongst the best players recently.Surely the time to give fringe players a run out is the meaningless games against Swansea and West Brom, not this one ?

I thought Anderson did OK,though, just surprised he was in the starting line up.

And in the second half, replacing a midfielder with Buttner, another left back, that was a strange decision.whistling.gif

  4. Agree that the area around the Singora is the best for a farang to stay. Its around here that you are most likely to see the Premiership football,as well.

Plenty of decent massage places in town......its not like Hat Yai where you are likely to get a happy ending,if you like it or not !

Also Samila beach has some decent seafood restaurants......nice for a stroll and a couple of beers in the evening.

Worth a visit if you have the time........Songhkla Zoo and Waterpark.....you will need your own transport to get there.

  5. I think Reading and QPR are all but certain to go down.

I reckon Wigan will survive as they are a better side than their current position suggests.

But the 3rd spot.....I reckon it depends on the Di Canio factor....if he reverses the losing trend then I think it will be Villa as they tend to fall apart quite easily.

Norwich.....1 win in 15.....thats shocking form but realistically they only need about 4 points to survive.....would be a disaster for them if they went down after splashing 8.5m on Van Wolfswinkel.

  6. You have got to feel sorry for McDermott. He got an average Championship side promoted and then was given very little money to spend in the Premiership,so not surprising they have struggled.

Even Jose Mourinho would struggle with such little resources.

Adkins will be going to Everton when Moyes replaces Wenger at Arsenal in the close season.

    carmine,

TP = Thai Pauly a Reading fan on the forum.

By the way,I was wrong about Villas-Boas getting the chop in mid March (post a few months back). He's doing a good job for the Spuds and I hope you make it into the Champions League next season.

But cant you do something about that raincoat he wears.....London is one of the fashion capitals of the world, for Christs sake ! wai.gif

  7. If you want to be right near to the beach, why dont you consider Songhkla ?

Its got the sea on one side of the town plus the largest lake in Thailand on the other side.

Compared to other Thai towns its pretty clean and its friendly as well.......not too many tourists.

Things to do,as well as the beach area, would include Songhkla Water Park and Zoo and the island of Ko Yo for delicious seafood and butying fabrics like cotton and batik at very cheap prices.

Just 30 kilometres away is the city of Hat Yai,which is the 3rd largest in Thailand. Its got airconditioned shopping malls,Night Markets,Malaysian/Thai food and a very "lively" nightlife.

Just 6 kilometres out of town there is a huge Municipal Park with gardens, pedalos on a lake, statues, temples,Ice Dome and cable car....well woth visiting.

It does get very busy at weekends when Malaysian and Singaporean tourists hop over the border.

Easy to commute between Songhkla and Hat Yai......regular buses, shared minibus, taxis etc.

The link you post is about Pattani,Narathiwat and Yala.......nothing to do with Songhkla.

Songhkla doesnt have the problems those 3 provinces have. Its a chilled out place, right on the beach and a great place to teach imo.

  9. Vincent Kompany, the captain of City,is saying it was never a red card so please have some respect for his opinion !wink.png

As for Mourinho going to United.mr bj......norfolkandchance......Chelsea neither.....its nailed on he will replace "Henry" Mancini at the Etihad Stadium, eventually !wai2.gif

  10. It was obvious beforehand that Benitez and Chelsea was going to be a "marriage made in hell."

If the fans could see it,how come Benitez and Abramovich couldnt see it ?

Its Abramovichs impatience for instant success that is the root cause of Chelsea current woes but if he leaves with his millions you could see the club imploding, similar to Portsmouth.

And if Abramovich had never bought Chelsea they would be still another middle of the road Premiership team similar to near neighbours Fulham.....no Champions League winners,Premiership titles,FA Cup and Carling Cup trophies.

Certainly, whoever takes over as manager needs to be given time to re-build and restructure the team with no impatient interference, even if it means a couple of seasons without winning anything.

Failing that you might just as well appoint Terry as manager,Lampard as no.2,Cech as goalkeeping coach and Cole as Chief Executive ! w00t.gif

  11. Cracking goal from Rafael who must be Uniteds most improved player this season and nice to see Giggs score on his 999th appearance for the club.

A great player and servant for United, even if you couldnt trust him with your missus !

But whats happened to Ashley Young ? He's brought his shocking Euro 2012 form into the Premiership this season.Says it all when he is substituted instead of the ineffective Nani.

  12. Depends if you have got your own transport or not ?

If you have the Nong Khai Resort just 200 metres from the railway station is excellent.Small detached bungalow just a few metres from a decent sized pool for 700 baht.

If you havent got your own transport then you will be reliant on a saamlaw from outside the railway station taking you into the centre of Nong Khai, about 10 minutes away......no problems coming back the other way getting transport.

Be aware that the last train leaves around 7.30pm so you might have difficulty getting into town after that and theres only a couple of possible eating/drinking places in the area.

To find it go into the car park opposite the station entrance, first left then second left and you are there....only 200 metres from the station but a bit tucked away.

  13. There are 3 daily Nok Air flights from Chiang Mai to Udon Thani.

    7.25am

    11.20am

    17.50pm

Takes about 1 hour 20 minutes.....prices from around 1700 baht one way(including taxes) if you book a month or two in advance.

If you leave it till around a few days to book before you fly, then the price could rise significantly.

  14. True Visions didnt get the rights to show the FA Cup this season,so in Thailand its Channel 7.

This weekend its Manchester United v Fulham (Sunday 00.30am Thai time) and Oldham v Liverpool (Sunday 23.00pm Thai time) as the two live televised matches.

  15. Rochdale have appointed Keith Hill as their manager for a second time after sacking John Coleman on Monday night.

In his first spell in charge Hill got Rochdale promoted from League 2 and then joined Championship side Barnsley from where he lost his job last month.

Whats the betting Coleman will be back in charge at Accrington Stanley before the end of this season ?

Watch out for reaction from mr bojangles live from a Bedouin tented village in the Saudi Arabian desert later ! laugh.png

  16. No,I thought Webb had a poor game last night. It was as if his heart wasnt in it.

His decisions favoured Liverpool and he missed a great opportunity to send off Skrtel when he hauled Welback back when through on goal in the second half.

Uniteds weakest links were Webb and Young.....something for SAF to ponder when planning for next season maybe !biggrin.png

Seriously,I thought Rafael and Kagawa were Uniteds star men last night. In contrast,Suarez and Gerrard were very subdued.

And what a great tackle by Koscielny in the first 8 minutes against City.....he'd be a good bet for France in the Rugby Union World Cup !

  17. Glad you had a good trip to Kuala Lumpur.

I'm surprised more married guys dont go down this route as,from what I can gather, extending a Non-Immigrant O on the basis of marriage at Thai Immigration can be a real pain. (40k monthly income or 400k in the bank)

Guys complain about the hoops they have to jump through for this (pictures of your house, thai guarantor that you live at your adress, extra paperwork etc) and sometimes have to make several visits before everything is deemed in order.

Even then the visa is not issued immediately and is sent to Bangkok for approval. You may have to wait another month for the visa to be issued.

If you have got the dosh then extension on the basis of retirement is the way to go (65k monthly or 800k in the bank...can be combined).

This visa can be issued straight away by your local Immigration Office and takes no longer than 20 minutes to process.

Thats what I do,at the moment, but if requirements or my finances changed I'd certainly consider a trip to KL.....nice little break and hassle free visa application experience that can count for a lot.

Incidentally,Savannakhet in Laos also does multi entry Non Immigrant O visas on the basis of marriage and no need to show income of 100k,at present.....cross over the bridge at Mukdahan into Laos.
