  1. I need to obtain a non-Immigrant Visa type-O for my marriage visa in Thailand. Is it possible to get it in the Thai Vientiane Consulate(or Embassy)?

I'm planning to go there on the October 12th'09,but there is a Laos National Holiday this day,so I wander if the Thai Consulate will be open?

I will be driving a car,so is it possible to take the car to Laos,or is it just to much trouble?

  3. I went to the TOT office Carrfour to pay the bill(don't know why...but did),while there I asked to check their speed. After a little opposition, thy did...BKK speed was astonishing at 6.4 Mbps DN,0.45 Mbps UP,and the international speed(!!!) 2.59 Mbps DN,0.25Mbps UP!!

After my last weeks visit in Mae Rim office, where they've had the same high BKK speed, but only 0.04 international,I was very surprised...I almost thought that there was same, same for everybody, but NOT!...so the high international internet does exist in Thailand!...why today my speed is only 0.04(!!!) and I'm on the 3 M plan???TIT???ADVENTURELAND!!! :):D:D

  4. We live in the Mae Rim area, much less traffic here, nice surroundings, some new development areas(like around the Prem School),but military land prevents the future big population subdivisions, which is good,I think.Welcome to contact me,can show you arround...

  5. OK...today the technician finally arrived,and...same,same like always disconnected everything and than connected it back again,and...SAME,SAME NO(!) DIFFERENT,so we went to the Mae Rim TOT office find out what we else can we do...well,nothing much...so,just to do something I've asked to change as back to the "lower" group from 3mbs to 2mbs(I was just hoping for a...I don't know,a miracle?)

...well,they where very surprised "WHY?",but finally agreed...but we have to pay a penalty for braking a contract(!!!)RIDICULOUS!!!...and that what I kinda have said...so the penalty was waved and we will keep it only for 7 days, just as a test.

OK...so we came back home and...SAME,SAME NO DIFFERENT(way under 100kbs) !!!...so,if anybody has any other ideas,I'm all ears!!!

BTW,while being in their office,I've ask what kind of speed they are getting,so they pointed me to the test computer by the door...it had only 1(!!!)website available...yes,you guessed right ''www.sanook.com"...and you can see yourself, how fast is it working(I guess that's the ONLY website that works good) :D !!!

    I didn't stop there...I've ask,if I could REALLY check the speed on their "office" computer.They...agreed!...but the office computers run at 8 Mbs(!!)...so we've checked...the ADSL speed was 6.6 Mbs,and the "our" internet speed...40kbs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D:):D:D:D:D

    ...any questions?

  6. I found WBP (weather boil proof) plywood in Chiang Mai.

Its not marine standard, but ok if coated with epoxy.

The shop is called "Mai-At Tiwipan" (Tiwipan Plywood).

They call the wood "Mai-At Pramah" (Burma plywood).

They have interior & exterior grade (only use exterior).

Its got a fish logo printed on one corner & the name Sealar.

The shop is on the super-hiway.

From Chang Puak road head East (clockwise).

I think its before the bridge, on the right, (maybe near a BMW garage/showroom).

For Epoxy & glass ask in the picture framing shops opposite the British Council".

Odd place to find it I know.

Thanks,I think I know that place, will check the ply...as to the epoxy/glass,I've found one place today, but they are deal mostly with chemicals in general(swimming pools etc).I will check the other place as well...

  7. I will be rebuilding an old fiberglass sail boat here in CM...does anybody know some good fiberglass/resin suppliers, also need a waterproof ply, good quality epoxy paint etc.

It will be nice to meet some CM "boaters" here, hope there are some around... :)

A bit confused. Are you building? or repairing?. If building a new boat, consider a better alternative to Marine grade plywood,- Honeycomb polyethylene. Lighter, stronger, no rot, easily repaired, etc. How big is your project? Hobby or production? And why to hel_l CM? Dont you need water sometimes? :D

Sorry for the confusion, but I'm actually rebuilding an old catamaran. It is mostly single skin fiberglass, but has some ply bulkheads to be replaced. It's been shipped here in the container,and... why here?...it's just because my family lives here for now,and at the end it should be easier for me to do it here than rent a space somewhere in Phuket and spend 6 month or so commuting.I just hope I'm right :D .

Anyway,I see you have some knowledge about boat building...I will be glad to meet you sometime. What are you doing here?

  8. OK, I found the supplier I mentioned. They are called Bakri Cono Marine. Hope that helps.

Thanks, looks like they are now Asap-Marine and located in the Ocean Marina(Pattaya),it is even better than Phuket.

I may be there next week, but the purpose of this tread was to try to find a local CM supplier, not a marine of course, but a fiberglass/resin specialists.

  11. OHH...REALLY!!!...some "big" people are sometimes like children...happens very often HERE!!

So true - just like the rich chinese-thai 'kid' who ran down the people at that bus stop. Where was the justice there? You're so right.

Bet he had a wristband though..Jing Jing, eh, funcat? Does that make him 'better' than the populist poor people who want a bit of "your" country? The more expensive car one drives and the more yellow one wears...they are just so much more 'worthy' of Thailand aren't they? Is that it???
