  1. Answer about 17,000 baht but yes not much room for the tank. It can be done here is an example shows you where the tank goes. But don't let your chosen installer talk you into the multipoint injection system. Too expensive and on a Yaris doesn't add anything worth bothering about.

Hindsight. You should have bought her a Vios then there would have been lots of room for an LPG tank. LGP is quite a popular conversion for Vios.

Do not touch NGV with a barge pole. Long queues at filling stations and limited range between fill ups. BUT OK if you live right next door to a filling station and never really go anywhere.

"... But don't let your chosen installer talk you into the multipoint injection system"...What is the difference, except for the price of course?...the other is like 10K+ more...

  2. This is quite an old post, I know, but I would like to revive the discussion.

I just been to Expo 2011 in Impact a few days ago.

They have the very big Grey importer BRM showcasing their luxury imported cars, including Mercedes-Benz, Bentley etc.

I went to check on the E250 convertible at Mercedes-Benz (the official importer) and the sales there recommended me to go check out and purchase cars from BRM, which is basically a very large grey market dealer.

Does that make sense? Is BRM safe compared to other dealers?

...are you not happy with your Z4...??:)

  3. I will first rent on a weekly basis an automatic like the Click or Wave(is there a fully-automatic Wave?), then move on to a bigger and heavier automatic like the PCX. After some ride, I will switch to a Wave/Dreamer with gear and clutch.

I have been riding here off and on for nearly 30 years now, actually learned to ride on these local mountain dirt roads. You do not sound like a hard core rider so my advice, to repeat what others have said, would be to skip the full autos and just get the semi-auto 125cc Dream. It has been, and remains, the most versatile scooter for those same past three decades. It has the strength (torque), and the tire options, to get you up the steeper mountain roads (just ask any Thai elementary school teacher posted to a more remote village)as well as get you up most of the unpaved roads (marvel at the Mong kids riding circles around Farangs atop high KLXs, including your truly) and is indeed one of the most reliable two-wheelers ever designed. And there is no clutch. It is marvel of engineering.

It will definitely win a popularity contest between the tribe people and many other Thais...It was my first bike here 10 years ago and it was 10 years old then,it may still run somewhere...as good as it is,it still look the same, even the brand new ones(they sell them for 46K!!).I've kept it only couple of weeks and than bougt a new Wave, almost the same engine, only looked better....now I use the Wave automatic and don't have to worry about gears anymore and it runs smooth as honey...well,I'm not gonna take it to some steep dirt roads and race it,anyhow...:D

  4. Move the bed to the center of the room, after you solve the smudge problem.

...that's only part of the solution...most of the stains in my house are around lite switches and staircases....Get Rid Of The Kids(and kids alike)!!!...NOT...:lol:

...seriously,as mention above, good quality paint eggshell,or semi-gloss will do (gloss is ugly)...then soap and water will do to clean most of the stains..:)

  5. Thanks.

I didn't see a comment from a "Joe Public" but I found this one interesting as when I test drove it around the parking lot, this was the exact same thing that entered my mind...

"I have taken the dual cab for a test drive with the partner, she is not small in statue, but when she got in the drivers seat. She said she could not see over the dash, so she increased the height of the seat, then hit her head on the roof. The rake (slope)of the windscreen combined with the thickness of the A pillar, created a blind spot for her. She complained that with the side mirror, there was a large black spot and it would be hard to see a car coming from the right. After 15 minutes driving, she pulled over.." I can't drive this..its crap."

I jumped in the drivers seat...yes, the windscreen rake combined with the A pillar and the side mirror, create a limited viewing area.

The side glass area is less than Toyota or Nissan, it seems to have a "Chopped" look to it, all panel and little glass."

no worries, no height adjustment seats in TH rangers until 3,2 is out next year

So the 2.2 doesn't have a height adjustable seat?!

...I think it does...but even with the seat all the way up,I will not hit the roof (I'm 6'1)...:)

It does not. They are 4-way manual seats.

the height adjustable are only on the 3.2L W/T

Well I sat in a 4dr XLT a few weeks ago and it had a height adjustable seat but can't remember if it was 2.2 or 3.2.

well, the 3.2 L XLT was not around in TH a few weeks ago....it is manual thou...:)

  6. Thanks.

  7. But you sold your car to a dealer, I am selling to another foreigner...Different game...

    Thanks

    Dan

It should not be any different...at least the paperwork....if you have the address(and you must have it I believe),I would just go to your local Ampher and get the residency statement,it's probably free,or 20 baht...I would try this first...:)

  8. 1500 baht is a fair price for work where it depends on the talent of the person doing it...you really don't want to skimp on price.

For 1500 baht it must not be a sport bike, or else its 3500 up, much more surface area involved. Tank and two fenders is nothing.

Holding a spray can isn't as simple as some people think.

...spraying paint is fun....just all the prep work, mixing and cleaning is annoying...:D

  9. 'Where could I get my motorbike resprayed? Mr mechanic said they could get it done for me for 1500bath so I presume I could get it done for half the price if I could go straight to the man."

    disassemble

    clean

    sand

    spray primer

    resand

    spray two coats

    reassemble

750 baht, sure, right, good thinking

Actually, buy two spray cans and shoot it yourself, you really do not need to disassemble or prep.

...but can of spray paint can cost 150-350 BHT ...you will need more than two...:whistling:...I've had my Wave(small motorbike)repaint for 2000 BHT...I took parts of,about 15 of them and deliver to the painter,he painted,I reassemble...looks like new !!!:D...I guess,I overpaid...:(...well,it was two-color job...:P

  10. Does the main man minister guy require a particular accent to be impressed upon his boys ?

Probably best to cover all bases and have one brummie, one geordie, a scouser and a glaswegian ;)

Chuck in a bit of mid Atlantic and them we huv a winner .

..or sober out...Blue Label can kick a punch ;)

  11. There was one last month at Rachapruek Flora.

...well,that's Aloha to that...:D...I remember the great show some years ago at The 700 Years Stadium, with the stunt show, great boots etc...and lots, lots of Big Bikes :)...hope to see something like that again...!!

  12. "...non-fuel-injection, semi-auto (don't go full auto)..."can you explain that pls...I've had some semi-auto Waves before(and still have one),but I enjoy the fully automatic one better now...specially when having a passenger in the back shifting is difficult for me when sitting way up in front (I'm 6'1)...and fuel injection gets the mileage down...my thoughts :)...and I do have slightly over sized tires, agree with that...changed them also on the "old" CBR 150

Depends how 'back woods' he wants to go. For service issues, you can get a carb serviced or replaced anywhere. And the traditional semi-auto is also easily serviced. For fuel-injection, and the fully auto Waves, service or parts might be an issue.

Personally, I don't like 'autos' - I really like shifting. Also, if he has plans to ride a 'real' bike in the future, it's good to get used to gears...

The largest tire I could get on the front of my Wave is one size SMALLER than that supplied by the factory on the Philippines' Wave. They sure like skinny tires here in Thailand!

OK,I got your point...I always thought the same, when somewhere "in the woods"bad thin happens...well after 10 years here I've never(knock on wood) got stuck on my bikes, but I always ride Honda,or Yamaha made here...and I'm so glad that they finally made some changes and are making "bigger" capacity bikes in Thailand...CBR 250 is great, hope that they will come up with some bigger Phantom as well...I want them both,as I use to before...:)...BTW,the automatic Wave it's really good for the beginners...if you need to learn clutch, that comes later..no problem :D

  13. Thanks guys...but it should be more...I'm usually racing in Phuket at this time of the year and always miss the "show" ,but this year I'm here,so hopefully can see more...it looks like the 10th is gonna be the Big Show, don't want to miss that..;)..

  14. There seems to be a lot of positive buzz about the new Ford Ranger. What's the opinion here about the old version (I'm considering buying a used 2009 open cab Wildtrack)?

    Sophon

...if you are not for "bigger is better" thing...my BIL is selling his '08 XLT OpenCab for 450k...and it is 3L !!...if you are not concern about putting the family behind...go for it,the front seat is probably as comfortable as....;)

I might be interested, but doesn't that model only have a drivers side airbag? Also, I'm not sure that the bigger engine is a positive to me, I don't really need the extra power and I would imagine it would come at a cost to the fuel economy.

    Sophon

I think it is only one air bag (BTW does the new ranger has two?)...I use to have a 2.5 L Toyota Tiger and we made a family trip to Nakon Sawan and back (2 cars) and I was amazed (and pissed a little),that his 3L used less fuel that mine...:o

  15. Yup - Honda Wave (or Dream) 125, non-fuel-injection, semi-auto (don't go full auto), with larger and slightly knobby tires.

I bought my 125 5 years ago with 20,000km on it. It now has 55,000km, and runs just great.

Semi-auto is super easy - just up and down with gears - no clutch.

I also ride a CBR250, and a little Kawasaki dirt-bike. But I still recommend the Wave for a beginner. Sure, no tank for the knees, but still better than just having a 'floor' like a scooter...

I am sure that Yamahas and Suzukis are just fine, but ANYBODY can service a Honda.

Put bigger tires on the Wave - I just put on some over-sized VEE Rubber (good Thai brand) for 1100bt installed...

If you buy a second-hand bike, change the oil to 100% synthetic - runs cooler and smoother.

    Cheers, Mark
