My advice would be to rent for at least 1 year before you decide to buy,and have a really good look round, you don't even have to pay as mentioned above, most of the villages have pools,a very nice house would be B25/30k a month.

You should really go back and try and identify the bar, there cannot be to many in the position you said, if you go back your memory might return
What happened to you is very serious, and possibly dangous to others. Is Nana a usual haunt for you?,are you a good drinker?

I just read something,that is sad,but true.
"IT is a certain fact that not all Muslims are terrorists. But it is equally certain — and exceptionally painful — that almost all terrorists are Muslims"
The hostage-takers of children in Beslan were Muslims. The hostage-takers and murderers of the Nepalese chefs and workers in Iraq were also Muslims. Those involved in rape and murder in Darfur, Sudan, are Muslims.
Those responsible for the attacks on residential towers in Riyadh and Khobar were Muslims. The two women who crashed two airliners last week were also Muslims.
Bin Laden is a Muslim. The majority of those who manned the suicide bombings against buses, vehicles, schools, houses and buildings, all over the world, were Muslims."

If you are thinking of doing this in Thailand,I think you would have more chance of succeeding opening a bar instead.
Most of the big supermarkets have video rental shops,at very low price.I might be wrong, but I think blockbuster tried to get in the market here and failed,to much pirated stuff around.

Q&A: What does '[sic]' mean?
In a word, it means "verbatim." Webster's New World Dictionary defines it as "thus; so: used within brackets, [sic], to show that a quoted passage, esp. one containing some error or something questionable, is precisely reproduced

I must admit, looking at the images yesterday, there did not seem to be any special forces about, they just looked like regular soldiers wandering about, not altogether organised
Surly special forces would be in high_tec gear

Banglamung police chief colonel Wattanachai Srirattanawut says he intends to start a new campaign, effective September 1, requiring pillion passengers on motor bikes to wear safety helmets. He said that it was not good just to concentrate on the drivers as the evidence showed that pillion passengers were also being killed and mutilated. From now on, the passenger offenders would be fined as well as the drivers
The police chief added that he was particularly concerned about poor safety habits within the city limits and he expected at least 80 motor bike drivers and their pillion riders to be stopped and fined in the first month of the sting operation.
I know its early days, but no sign yet of anyone complying.

Was it not a bit of anonymous bravado, when you slurred decent people that live in Pattaya with.
"Pattaya, for me, is full of 'farang' losers and criminals. Let us not pretend. It's is full of desperate people"
A lot of my friends that run successful, legitimate business'es here would be very offended by that, especially as everybody is working hard to improve the image of Pattaya.
Please see this thread.

Hmmmmmmm.....
I'm actually in the UK at the moment. Thanks anyway.
I've been travelling to the region for twelve years, for up to six months annually. I do practice what I preach and possibly because of that, I have not been negatively affected.
Pattaya, for me, is full of 'farang' losers and criminals. Let us not pretend. It's is full of desperate people. Certsinly there is financial opportunity, but only for some(A friend of mine deals in property there).
In the UK, the smallest of my properties is worth in excess of twelve million baht(£160k).
Though I know many Thai working girls quite well, I will not get involved with them.
Anyone staying there for any amount of time knows the score.
Almost every day that I am in Pattaya, I see or hear a guy getting ripped off.
Of course, it wouldn't do quite so well if there wasn't a fresh input of 'mugs' pumping their hard earned dosh into it.
Anyway, I'm not going to bang on about it. Up to you.
Pattaya has got more going for it than a lot places in Thailand,if you don't like it stay away,us "loses and criminals"don't want you spoiling are depraved live style.
Whats the value of your 2 up 2 down house in the UK got to do with anything anyway.
I'm sure the "working girls" will spot you for what you are.Just how well do you know them, been a bit of a "mug" yourself have we.

Definatly over priced for Pattaya, stay somewhere else and go there for a drink.

C'mon Guys. Let it go.
This has nothing to do with a forum on Thailand.
Take your arguments elsewhere.

Lets listen to an experienced guy
The guy wants to leave his preg girl friend and come to Thailand.Maybe he will do the same here and go to Phillipines, that makes it a thread about Thailand.
It might be your girlfriend that he does it to,if you actually live here.

I too, just came back from a visa run to Penang, had no problems what so ever, was given a triple entry tourist visa, using an agent, could have had it in one day if I wanted(the next day),but had already booked hotel and flight for 3 days.
Stayed at the Sunway Hotel for B950 a night for a deluxe room, they also have rooms with free internet at B1200,nice hotel very clean and well run.
I only started the thread because I found it in the Pattaya mail, and thought it might be of interest, obviously the author got his facts wrong and I have e-mailed the Mail to point this out.
Took my thai girlfriend, but she hated the food, but enjoyed everything else.
