Until you post proof this happened in Tachilek recently, i can easily not think that.

Has anyone received a prescription for Temazepam in Chiang Mai? If yes, where did you receive the prescription from?
I was in a car accident in my home country many years ago which left me with PTSD and chronic insomnia. Temazepam 30 mg was prescribed for me to help with the insomnia which I continue to find helpful. I don't take this medication every night, just once or twice per week. I'm considering relocating to Chiang Mai (where I've lived before) and I know that benzodiazepines are tightly controlled in Thailand, so I'm curious as to where I could get a prescription for temazepam. Thank you in advance for any and all replies!
I suggest you Google on "Temazepam compared to other sleep medications," and "what is better than Temazepam." Ambien (Zolpidem), not a benzo) can be prescribed at Maharaj/Sriphat hospital (I saw a neurologist for Ambien).
cheers

Crestor is also an even better option.
Why was Crestor taken off the market?Crestor interacted dangerously with the blood-thinner Coumadin, commonly used by heart-disease patients; one Crestor-Coumadin interaction resulted in a hemorrhage. Some studies show that only one-tenth of the actual cases are reported to the FDA. The fact that so few patients on the 20 or 40 mg. -

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SangSom
""SangSom Special Rum", as it is called on its website, is distilled from molasses. Its alcohol content is 40 percent by volume. It is aged in charred oak barrels for five years before bottling."
Wonder how much this version costs here.
I use the non-special version to kill insects in shoes left outside the house, and spray on gate posts to discourage the neighborhood dogs from their morning peripatetic pissathons.

Out of curiosity, does Maharaj actually have a separate emergency (trauma) center? To my knowledge, there's only one in that complex and it's straight ahead as you drive in there....and actually closer to the Sripat building. I have no clue what entity owns or manages it.
From the pinned medical thread on this forum:
Quote"Sriphat is the private wing of the 2,300 bed Maharaj Nakorn Hospital - also known as Suan Dok (Suan Dork) Hospital, a large tertiary government teaching hospital affiliated with Chiang Mai University (CMU). All medical specialties are represented and the hospital is fully equipped to a high standard, including an excellent trauma centre. At Sriphat (also known the “Special Medical Services Center”) it is possible to see many of the most senior physicians affiliated with the CMU Medical School in a private capacity. No other hospital in the area offers the same range of expertise, and it is quite affordable. All of the doctors speak English to a decent standard or better and most of the administrative and nursing staff do also, but to varying degrees. There is also an efficient queuing system in place whereby a new patient can see a medical specialist within very short time scales and subsequent visits rarely involve more than a two hour wait. In this as in many government hospitals, the quality of care is much higher than the hospital’s general appearance and lack of amenities might suggest. Finally, this hospital has extensive 24 hour Accident and Emergency facilities, including an air ambulance."

So my advice if you have a Thai-speaking partner and you have an emergency? Just stay with Maharaj.
Thanks, No Thai partner.

I am told Sriphat has no ER; but, the main hospital, of course, does. I have had eye surgery in March through Sriphat, as well as seeing specialists for other problems.
So, while my eyes are fine, other issues NOW really require emergency evaluation and treatment, possibly hospitalization.
Appreciate any guidance on what happens if you go to Maharaj ER with your Sriphat id number: will they have access to all your Sriphat records, test result, etc. ?
Any other comments on other hospital's ER units very appreciated !
thanks !

After successful eye surgery, yours truly had some bone-cracking falls, and I am housebound. I am interested in knowing of any resources. I live in the Nong Hoi area. Usually, I buy all my food at Rimping Nawarat, and Talat San Phak Koi, and Makro.
thanks !
p.s. I used to buy a Chineses made expectorant in the 7/11 or pharmacy useful for clearing mucus in the polluted season ... name ?

There is good information in responses here which also include mocking you: if you respond to the mockery, you encourage more sarcasm.
Chiang Mai is usually hot as hell in March and April, and air pollution often dangerously high. Your experience of heat/pollution will vary depending on many factors: location, time of day, traffic, etc. You will need an N95 mask.
Anyone who asked me about visiting Chiang Mai in the next two months, I would advise not to come.
For the (solar) Thai New Year, April 13 celebration, I might say: if you are young, wild and crazy, and like water-throwing, love ultraviolet radiation, and have superb lungs and immune system: okay.
Late January, and up until now, we have benefited from a south Asia wide unusual cold spell.
There is a new high-end train in service between CM and BKK.
I join with other posters here in suggesting you do more online research.

you really need to add some details like: how long you intend to stay; what type of rental (room, apartment/condo, hotel, house).
what do you intend to do here ? what are your needs for transportation ?

Sent the first 7162, got a second notice to send another. and sent it, got a message about benefits for 2023 ... believed i was dead because i had no notice of benefits continuing ,,,
surprise: SSA => $ today.
how can i re-animate my corpse ?
if i'm alive today, will i still be alive in April ? could i be, now, like a Schrodinger cat, both dead and alive, depending on who opens my mind ?
these questions make sleep impossible !

short version: want to talk to a local travel agent/guru who is aware of what flights/prices might be available in the next months for CNX <=> US travel. ,appreciate your comments !
I am helping a US friend plan a longer visit to Chiang Mai in the next few months ... maybe 5 weeks to 12 ... I have warned them about the very hot weather and possible intense air-pollution.
Right now, fairly low air-fares US<=>CNX are available, but, I am concerned that if my friend needs to go back earlier because of the air/heat, or whatever, they might not be able to change if the tickets were purchased at a lower rate.
Of course, no one can predict the extent/intensity of air pollution here this year. I read 2022 hot season did have less pollution on average than the last 2 years. global climate change could be a factor ... as it is in the current unusual S.E. Asia/China cold shape.
I have been researching flexible date air fares: policies on different airline: the vary by types of travel. lots of offers of flexible departure date, very little info on changes to return date.
Buying a one-way ticket to come here and deferring buying the return ? risky ? maybe return desired on is very $$$ ? while the odds are (?) that intntl. tickets from Thailand to US will be lower cost in April/May low-season, still a hypothesis..
thanks, ~o:37;

they’re screaming at each other.
What sounds do you make when you roost ?
Since I was a mynah in another life, I know they are making joyful music about coming home to the safety of the roost, about dusk, about the wonder of surviving another day, and finding food.

a certain English language newspaper in Bangkok has several stories about Thai blood donation requirements you can easily Google.
