  1. I want to order an Asus notebook from the states valued at 90k baht shipped via UPS

anyone can shed light on me to what % tax i could expect at the post office?

Is there an official Thai website that states the import duty on such notebooks...?

  2. Ok, i got the embossing seal done for 3200 baht (with the handle and clamp), it's 2700 baht just for the coin seal. Got it done in 26 hours instead of the usual 1 days process (manage to persuade the guy that I'm in a rush). The shop is right at Phetburi road between Pantip Plaza and Platinum, it's called "Paramount Printing".

I've also done a bit of a walking and found one high-end printing shop which they also do the embossed seals and stamps, however the price goes higher to 4,500 baht for the seal. The shop is at Central World on the Isetan side on the 4th (?) floor.

  3. I'm looking for a shop in Bangkok that can make custom designed

embosser seals/die used for pressing documents/cards. I got some

pics off the internet just to show an example

Anyone got some knowledge on this one? I don't mind a different

method, i just need embossed prints on my cards.... (inexpensive)

    Kind of urgent... :o

  4. It's a hidden secret :o

When I was younger myself in Thailand... You don't usually bump into another 5 year old

or younger just like that. You need family introduction first, like if my parents know their

parents or a friend of someone.

Then I would hang around their only in their house or vice versa. Usually the kids would live

in town houses or guarded communities (like a village house).

It's still fun though, I mean, it's not like they are being held captive, they are just locked naturally

    within hidden boundaries.

  5. Nectec, the National Electronics and Computer Technology Centre allows accurate traffic report

    real-time on on their website:

    www.traffy.in.th

    http://traffic.thai.net

Traffic information along with pictures or even videos are available through the system.

Future service expansion are now including software for iPhone and PDAs to allow uses to upload

pictures, traffic information, accidents, road constructions and or videos to be up-linked to the

    central system.

  6. I have spoken to many Thai women who say they will stay at home during Songkran because they don't want men touching their body in the street. During Songkran a basic principle of civilised behaviour gets thrown out the window - the principle that you need consent to touch another person's body. I can't see the the "sanuk" in assaulting and sexually assaulting people in the street.

agree, those "grean" kids now have a perfect excuse to grope young girls in tight crowds.

Many guys (usually thai) go out to play songkarn just for that reason. Wet girls in short shorts

(who probably are looking for some action and be victimized as well)

  7. Hate it when:

    - Get splashed with warm water

    - Get splashed with dirty klong water

    - Too crowded (when the human masses starts to fall like waves in Kao Sarn)

    - Getting fondled by lady-boys

    - Getting fondled by ugly chicks

    - Witnessing a drunkard getting into fights

    Love it when:

    - Get splashed with cool/cold/clean water

    - Play it with a cool set of friends

    - Surrounded by polite yet playful locals

    - Do things that doesn't only involve drinking, techno music, and drinking (ie. temples, pageant contest etc).

  8. Addition
sending large files to email accounts

Gmail will allow you attachments up to 20mb

I'm sending like rather larger files (those multimedia files and hi-res prints)

Isn't there one good one out there?

yousendit.com is fast i must admit, but isn't fast enough to max out the type of connections

    my receiver and I have...

  9. Anybody know what's going on there?

I've passed it a couple of times at that hour but did not thought much about it,

that I thought maybe that there are night clubs around that area and people are

    just heading home....

but then.... it's just cars picking up girls. Are they even legal age? Is it controlled by

a gang or mamasan? And why the hel_l that part of an area

  10. Did I missed something (news, headlines, or whatever) recently? Because there are quite a number of movies that came out recently, I noticed in trailers and current releases, and a dam_n good list of casts as well:

    Inglourious Basterds (Brad Pitt)

    Valkyrie (Tom Cruise)

    Defiance (Daniel Craig)

    The Reader (Kate Winslet)

    Miracle at St.Anna's

    The boy in Striped Pajamas

    John Rabe

and they all have to do with nazi germany during WW2

  11. Before I suggest any activity, I want to know.... What are you into? Sports? Relaxing/Chilling? Eating? Shopping unique hidden stuff of Bangkok (like the sort of stuff you will never find on the streets/department stores)?

What sort of friends do you have? Sporty friends? Young friends? Older friends? Rich friends? Thai friends ?

  12. I don't know of any shops apart from the obvious pawn places.

What sort of guitar are you selling?

Music Man Electric Guitar - '94 Albert Lee (Pinkburst color)

bought it a while back in 01' ... barely used

how much are you asking for it?

I bought it for 40,500 Baht back then.... wanting to sell it for 23,000 baht and will throw in a (Korg Pandora: Guitar Multi-Effect Processor PX3).

so... Guitar case, the guitar itself, Pandora PX-3, Washburn strap, Manuals & reciept.... all for 23,000 baht

    why, are u interested?
