Theres an app called DNS jumper, found it on Snapfiles, it enables
you to change your DNS from a list of 40 ,so you can find the fastest
one, also lets you test to find the fastest one.
I am also on TOT,and its crap, its not bad until about 4 in afternoon
when the kids come home from school, then it slows right down, also
Saturday and Sundays are the same,
Not enough bandwith and selling to too many customers ,I think thats
the problem.

Yes they fly over my house, but its not a problem, theres a very late one
that sounds like its landing at about 12-1, did not know the airport had
arrivals/departures that late.

Hi Bangkok Blue, There is most likely the biggest Sat shop up the 2nd ring road, from Meechok Plaza to Town Hall, going up the
road its on the right, flags and dishes on the roof so you cannot miss it, If they don't know, the whys ,ifs ,and wherefores about CTH
then we are in trouble.
So looks like I was right to be concerned that we would be up and running before the start of the season, hope the factory in China
is working 24/7 making the boxes, but I can see the problem been having enough installers ,to fix the dishes and get everything
working,. boxes by end of July, bet thats not a firm date either.

Has anyone heard or made further enquiries with local satellite shops about installing CTH satellite? I'm gonna have a scout around this weekend.
Good Luck, I hope you are able to find something out, please report your findings,
I would rather get everything installed and up and running before the EPL starts,
as I suspect its going to be a last minute rush.
regards Worgeordie
To be fair wg you seem very negative about about cth being up and running for the start of the season, so perhaps you would be better off getting out there, finding a shop and then perhaps you could then get your name down first on the waiting list
Hi Alfie, I have been to Wetv and several other shops and they knew nowt, thats why I am
panicking ,just hope you are right and everything will be in place soon.the shops may get the
boxes and dishes, but then they have to be installed ...... not easy to get on a waiting list when
the dealers no nothing, and they are in the trade!
But I suppose everything will turn out fine....in the end. and after all its only football .

Not the same dish. True use a thaicom C-band satellite. CTH will use KU-band from vinasat 2.
I thought True use KU band, pretty sure they do as every time it rains signal
is lost, CTH is according to them use the Ku band from Vinasat 2 AND also
C band from Thaicom 5, C band would be a better choice especially if you
already have one,

Wish someone would grow Parsnips and supply them at a reasonable
price, as the imported ones from Australia are expensive, Oh and
Rhubarb,I know the Kings Projects grows some but price is always
expensive, and while i am here Swedes, purple topped turnips,I
suppose someone with a small holding, especially if it was organic
could do very nicely growing the unusual (for Thailand) everyday
vegetables in the West.

Theres a fishing tackle shop in Raumchok Market that sells them ,its on the main road
frontage between the 7/11 and the gold shops, Raumchok Market on Mae Jo road,
next to Meechoke Plaza.
Or you could put a piece of meat outside for a few days, and it will be heaving with
maggots, Maggots ,in various colours are a very popular bait in UK, but not in
Thailand, where they mainly use pastes, bought as a power and mixed with water.

I am not offering to get involved in helping with a post which starts off calling us unethical. I would suggest that the OP looks up the term to ensure this is the term he actually means to use.
Some very useful posts by PIB, MANIA and others clarifying the situation. As stated, our fees are clearly available to all customers, they are consistent, are in general lower than the market and make us by far the leading bank in Thailand for foreign correspondent banks.
So no offer here to help with this post, other than again advising to look up the term "unethical". It is used in an inappropriate way in this post.
Would greedy be a better term to use?, banks are taking 4 lots of profit on one transfer, first you have a charge to send the money, then another charge from some intermediary bank, then a charge from the bank in Thailand to receive MY money, then another profit on exchanging the money into Baht, The banks know we have no options ,so its easy for them to take advantage of the customer, I don't expect the service provided to be free, just fair. regards Worgeordie
So by your definition, having the lowest charges in the market makes us greedy? Does not make any sense to me.............
As for charges from sender banks, intermediary banks, how do you expect us to control that? Do you think we can tell your bank how much to charge you? Good luck on that one..
Fact is there are no intermediary banks in most cases with us as we have correspondent relationships with the most banks. It is your choice if you use some bank in the boondocks who does not have correspondent relatioships with any foreign banks. And if you use our facilities in the UK and USA you don't even end up paying SWIFT charges.
No, Not greedy. Not at all.
Hi Ianguygil ,I don't know which bank you work for,I was saying the majority of banks are greedy, just look at the problems in the world lately ,all caused by greed of the banks, doing anything so they can get their obscene bonuses, the banks don't even trust each other,
never mind their customers, just saying 4 profits taken on 1 transfer. If you post an airmail letter in say Newcastle UK, you pay for the stamps, you don't pay any extra ,when it gets to Heathrow or when it arrives in Bangkok,or when it arrive to my home in Chiang Mai.
regards Worgeordie PS no I would not send my money with the post, trust them even less than the banks.

Thai logic which I could never understand, you need Bht400,000 for a marriage visa,I presume they
expect you to support your wife,so thats 2 people, but you need Bht 800,000 for retirement extension,
where I presume they class you as single person.

I thought the purpose of the Chiang Mai forum was to help,be helped, inform,
discuss subjects in a reasonable manner, provide news about whats happening in Chiang Mai,
and yes there are a few members on here whom are overly quick to come out with snide remarks,
they never post anything that is of real use to anyone else, just negative remarks.
I lurked about the forum for a couple of years before I found the courage to make my first post,
as I had seen how others where demolished over very little, and no one likes to be made a fool
of ,even if its not justified ,by our peers.its easy to hide behind keyboard and screen and say
negative things ,must make them feel good,or something is missing in their lives, maybe in the
real world they are different people ?, who knows .
There is enough negativity in the World lets make the Chiang Mai forum a better place, instead
of acting like politicians ,with all the back biting trying to score points at others expense.
Thats it I have been wanting to say this for a while, now I wait for the negativity to roll in !
Looking at other Forums on ThaiVisa I don't see this problem .

-Never ever invest a single Baht in a Thai rented property.
That's very silly, I've only heard Thais say this. I can afford to pay B30,000 per month. I find a house that needs work for B10,000, and know I'm going to stay there for at least three years, and secure a rolling 3-year lease.
If I want to fix the place up so I can really enjoy living in it, I now have a B240,000 budget to spend on improvements, even given the fact that I can take lots of them with me when I go - of course having spelled that out in the lease. And to a higher quality standard of work and exactly to my taste.
If I stay for five years rather than three then I'm still definitely ahead of the game, would probably paint again for example, replace a couple of appliances, air conditioners etc.
A bit more upscale example: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/12/14/greathomesanddestinations/14iht-rebangkok14.html
Sorry but photo or not, you will never see your 200 000 !
What gives you that idea? As long as he approaches things with the right attitude, odds are in my experience much better than 50/50. But perhaps he's already gotten confrontational with the man himself rather than just here, in which case you're probably right.
Hi Cluey, you sound like the ideal tenant spending your own money to renovate someone else's property,Wish I could find tenants like you,
regards Worgeordie, PS even if you have a 3 year contract before doing the work, nothing is written in stone when it comes to contracts in Thailand.

Unethical , Yes thats a good description of banks nowadays, they don't even trust each other ,
criminals with pens, they don't even have the courtesy to put a mask on when they rob you.
My daughter sent me some money from the UK in Sterling, there was 4 profits taken from the
transfer, first cost to send money, then 5 pounds taken by who?,bank said it must be middle bank
somewhere !,Bht 200 here ,then profit on exchanging into Bht.
.
If only there was someway to do without them, they know they have their customers by the short
and curly s and just do about whatever they like with us,they are always right their customers
always wrong if you have any dispute with them.

I hope sentences and fines if found guilty, are not just a slap on the wrist
and a Bht 2000 fine,it should be taken seriously as it effects peoples lives
and health.

It is most likely RATS they are tree rats, not the dirty sewer rat kind, they come into your
roofs space when the rains start, you need to make sure you have no trees,or other things
next to your house where they can climb up and get in the roof space, you need to buy either
some of those sticky rat traps, like a plate with glue on or a wire trap.
They can make a lot of noise in the ceiling, some we had in our roof sounded like 2 Yorkshire
terriers running about, apart from the noise, they also spread disease with their urine and can
chew your electric wiring, so best get something done before they start to breed !

Internet the slower it gets, as the provider only has a limited amount of bandwidth.

It would seem that CTH are in no hurry to recoup their massive investment,or maybe they have bitten off
more than they could chew.
Their big problem is going to be getting all the installations of the equipment done ,as the demand is most
likely to exceed the number of technicians to do the job in time.
If only we could get a leaflet in English explaining everything we need to know, the fine print on their website
is unreadable, and they cannot even be bothered to have an English version.
If that big Sat shop on 2nd ring road,it must be the biggest in Chiang Mai,cannot give you any information,
then it looks like we might be seeing our first EPL game a few games into the season!

greatly out way the penalties ,so no deterrent.

At this point, bearing in mind Trues excellent coverage of Golf, Tennis Majors, Rugby (Setanta), and all the top US Sports, I think I ll stick with True. The other factor is if you know which sites to use, you can easily download BBC Match Of The Day, which these days shows highlights and goals from all matches. Then I can spend happy Sundays watching highlights only. That will do for me!
Besides, I wont miss all the cheating, diving and blatantly unfair hystrionics from the likes of Bale, Suarez and lots of others!! Try that tactic in Rugby Union and youre off, yellow or red card!!
I just knew you would be sticking with True,Through thick and thin Postman Pat a True man (just a joke) as you where so staunch in defending True in the past.
regards Worgeordie Me, I am over the moon they are loosing so many customers, I was with them from when they were IBC ,canceled about 5 years ago
and they never refunded my deposit. only 4K Bht, but the amount is not the issue, B@#$%ds.

Maybe they can get a loan from Wonga.com to cover the losses !, We the Farang seem more
interested in what the government gets up to than the average Thai on the street,or should
I say countryside.
This is a great business model, you cannot sell the product, but continue to buy more at inflated
prices,Taksinomics at its finest. but I suppose its ok to do this as its not your money, and they
know Thais very soon forgive and forget.
