  1. Just another example for incomplete and missleading information. The exemption to report at the local police according article 37(3)(4) of the immigration act is not only for tourist visa holders. Bussines visa and a lot of others are also exempted. But this is not published at this article.

I refere to the article from Bangkok Post and im.igration published im post #72. Unfortunately the article not shoed up here.

    Correct, misleading

  2. But on tourist you never need to do a 90 day report because the maximum you can stay is 90 days. Than you have to leave the country. The 90 days is 60 days at the border if has visa and another 30 days as extension at immi. This extension can only be done once per entry due to visa. You never exceed the 9o days.

On a 1 year non O multiple marriage visa either, in 20 years I had never to do a 90 days report, because I do not stay longer as 90 days in the country. Sometimes I stay only 7 days in Thailand then I have to leave based on my work in Malaysia. Then return...

  3.  Please not mix tm30 and tm28.

TM30 is the form used to repot according section 38. It is the housemaster or hotel where the foreigner  stays. There is NO EXEMPTION for tourists.

TM28 is used by the foreinger itself to report according section 37. The exemption resides here. Only here.

Makes it clear again: only report when you stay longer in the country for more than 90 days aka you are on an extension.

  4. What isnt true ?? Again I wrote "Anyone who fails to do so, and doesnt leave, is on overstay".. I would have thought someone who qualified for a smart visa would have better reading skills.

Clearly you are not reading what is written, or what specific part of the conversation(s) are being replied to.. The context of this was about how none of our addresses in Thailand are permanent addresses in the eyes of immigration.  Unless you are a PR or citizenship holder, all other addresses are temporary addresses in the eyes of Thai authorities. So I am at a little bit of a loss what your contributing to that.

I replied to your post saying “ every time I would sleep somewhere I changed my address. I still believe that is BS. Nothing to discuss anymore.

  5. The smart visa requires extensions at the end of its period of stay, try skipping the extension is what I said. Anyone who fails to do so, and doesnt leave, is on overstay and will get a hard lesson in where thier 'permanent home' is if discovered. This is what I was emphasising to the person who claims his address is his permanent home, as opposed to other 'temporary addresses'.. Thailand views all non Thais as merely being transient temporary residents, none of which are 'permanent homes' or residency.

The smart visa folks have to do the 90 days reports annually I believe, tho that has nothing to do with what I was talking about.

Not true, as I can always fall back to non o visa ( not to a extension) . My government possibly has a different view as my residency is registered with the MFA/embassy. My ID card shows my permanent address in Thailand as well

  6.
Both points which Thailand doesnt care about.. These are Thai rules in Thailand.. They determine everyone non Thai as being here only as long as tolerated..

Think differently ?? Skip the visa extension and see how much that address remains your own..

I am on a multiple entry 1 year visa/ smart visa. never requested to do a TM30 nor a 90 day report

  7. I'm doing my Multi Entry in Savannakhet next week. The problem is that my return flight gets in to Bkk at 4.30pm, then continue on to Chiangmai. My question is this.
Can l report my TM30 update at Swampy when l arrive, or do l have to do it at Chiangmai lmmigration. If the latter, will l be fined since Monday would be the next business day?

I guess you are applying for a ME VISA. If you have nothing to do at your immigration in future, why you bother about a TM30 update?

  8. Actually, the text in the police order regarding the TM28/TM30 says it clearly "report new adress when you CHANGE adress". As long as I travel inside Thailand, I never CHANGE my home adress! So actually there is no need to report my return home, as long as my adress is still the same. The solution could be so easy, just make Immigration understand the meaning of the words "change adress". When you move into your new premises, of course you need to report. But reporting ONE TIME only should be enough, until you "change adress" meaning "until you move out of this adress and move into a new premise". It would exclude having to report back anytime into an adress where you already registered yourself when you moved in

Unfortunately, some Immigration offices want you to report your adress again even after you only returned from travel or a short trip. THAT is the ridiculous thing, not the duty of reporting your adress to immigration when you MOVE INTO an new adress

Reporting when you permanently move in and new reporting when you Change your address, so it should be...but
