Well I have just been in contact with immigration to try to deal with the matter.....
They are well aware of the problem with British passport delays and are helping where they can. I have to go along before my current 90 days report expires and they are going to work their mojo and allow me to get the extension that I need on my current passport. Also, RE: the 1 year ban for overstaying more 90 days.... they are aware that it has caught some people unawares and are not necessarily applying the law literally for 3-6 months.
That was Pattaya Immigration. I have always found them to be helpful anyway. Other places may not be so accommodating. -
All passport renewal applications are now being sent to the UK. It has all changed recently,
That might be a problem because it takes a long time to receive the new passport, because ID confirmation is needed here for many aspects, i.e Hospital service, Dental service, Bank Service, etc
Perhaps HMPO will now improve their messy system.
You can still use the old one for ID, just not for travel/extensions etc.

Existing passports are cancelled once the application for a new one has been received in the UK.

you have a British passport and you say because it's "full" you cant return to the UK ?Duhhhhh? So you say Thai immigration wont find a space on a page to let you exit?My passports full Toady, going to the UK isn't an option
Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app
It is FULL.
There is no space. Duhhh!

Question, as I have no clue as I am from one of the Schengen States.
In my country we can renew our passport up to 6-7 months (maybe even more) in advance, can you do this with UK passports?
Sent from my iPad so Please excuse any typos
UK passports are cancelled once an application for a replacement has been received. Renewing well in advance doesn't necessarily mean you have plenty of time to use your existing one.

Yeah good to see Moonrakers back, must catch up next time in BKK

I'm still alive and kicking ND. I hope you're well.
What a bloody kerfuffle though eh. Going by current estimations I have 5 weeks or so to play with where the 90 days is concerned and I'm not the sort of person to give immigration a reason to come looking for me. I should be OK, still a worry though.- 1

No, not because of the delays, but because you didn't take them in accountSo, because of the delays I could get banned for 1 year if I surrender or, even worse, get banned for 5 years if apprehended?
and didn't renew your passport earlier...
You would not be in this situation is you had renewed it 3 or 6 month ago, right ? So ?
Always easier to say it's somebody else fault
The current set up for get a new passport is a joke.
The current estimation is 10 weeks. Add on to that another 3 weeks just to get an appointment to make the application.

Why on earth would I take the delays into account when I was not aware of them?
-
OK...
So i need a new passport as mine is full. With the current delays with British passports overstay is unavoidable for me. As my existing passport is cancelled when the application is received in the UK, I cannot leave the country or get an extension to avoid overstay. With the delays it is also possible that I could go over 90 days overstay.
So, because of the delays I could get banned for 1 year if I surrender or, even worse, get banned for 5 years if apprehended?
Harsh just doesn't cover it! Are cases such as mine taken into account? -
Gobsmacked that there's a place with this equipment do let us know how it goes OP... Good luck...
Will do
Now I know the problem and know where to go to get it fixed, my biggest challenge now is getting off my arse and doing something about it.

OP...just a shot in the dark here.....do you have a HP dv model? Are we talking about a faulty Nvidia chip?
We might be in the same boat here. lmk
Yes. I suspect you and I have the exact same problem
I've done the temp fix, which is forcing it to over heat. This is obviously not to be recommended although it did work........ temporarily. It also confirmed what the problem is.

I have a faulty hp laptop with faulty soldering that needs reballing. It's not a job I can do myself.
I've tried calling round but nobody seems interested in listening to the problem I have, instead they try to insist I need a new motherboard, screen, battery etc (it's never the same). They just seem insistent on trying to sell me something that I know I don't need.
Can anybody please recommend a place that will just do the job (reballing) I am asking of them, and do it well?
Thanks

haha, now this is kinda funny, referring to what i just wrote above a few minutes ago, anyone witnessed the angry violent Brit attacking a black car on sukhumvit, close to soi 15?
He was probably on stereoids or something, he was totally angry and insane, he reminded me of a wild animal. He tried to grab the driver, but he could not reach him, so instead he started to land 4 heavy punches on the back window, I was waiting for the window to crack.
Anyone knows the story behind this incident? Why did the almost shaved headed fotboll hooligan Brit attack the car and the people inside the car?
and the sad story is, thais will just say, "it was a farang".
Maybe it was a taxi that wound its window down?

While we can't expect everybody to speak Thai, I think it would be wise to know what a word means before deciding it insults you.
It's notable that somebody took exception to me referring to my daughter as a Luek-Krueng. That's what she is. She is a Luek-Krueng/mixed race or whatever PC term you want to call it. A child born to parents of different races. So bloody what? What is wrong with that? What is wrong with referring to that?
I'm a white Englishman, I have stereo-typically bad teeth. OH NO, I'VE JUST INSULTED MYSELF. I fall under a larger bracket of white people from the West (and Oz, etc). Shock horror: The Thai's have their own language which has it's own word for white people from the West, that word is farang.
One assumes this forum is made up largely of adults, in which case, get a grip of yourselves.

Well, if that's how you refer to your daughter . . . good luck to you
Yep
That's what we call her actually. Didn't bother giving her a name

Anyway...my 2 cents worth. The General forum can be a tough place to get good replies.
I'm a bit offended at that comment.......we put a lot of effort into being obtuse
That's the right angle.
I thought he was going off at a tangent myself.

When Mrs 'Rakers points at something, the last thing I do is look toward what I 'think' she is pointing at.
She's a useless pointer, I settle for a verbal description only.
