  1. When I called 1111 just now from a mobile phone it answered normally: “…for English, press 9…”

    Maestro

me too, guess it was the 02 that was the problem

Anyway not much joy, very nice lady with poor English ability, reconnected me 3 times and told me to contact Immigration office. I thought that was Immigration?

Call cost 3 Baht also from mobile

  2. Why don't you call immigration and ask them. Call the 24 hour number 1111. It costs 3 baht from a land line.

I just called (using a mobile and adding 02 before the number) got a mechanical voice telling me the number doesn't exist.

Any idea what the number is from a mobile?

    Thanks

  3. Hi

Not sure which forum this belongs to, however, here goes.

I bought an iPhone in Thailand. The salesperson "unblocked" it and gave me a sim card for 121. Really I don't use my phone very often but I have it so that others get in touch with me. At first I had 100 THB and only used about 40THB before the date was to expire so I restocked 50THB, that only made my card valuable for a further 3 days. I never made any calls in that time so now the money is lost and the sim? will expire very soon, meaning I will have no number (I think)

Can anyone explain how the sim thing works and maybe give me a better solution?

Thanks to anyone who can help

  4. Hi,

I plan on going to Cambodia (Phnom Penh) to get a tourist visa or 1-year visa. Can anyone tell me how long it takes after application until I can collect?

My plan is to go on Tuesday arriving late afternoon, applying on Wednesday morning. I would like to leave PP on Saturday and visit Siem Reap before returning to BKK. What do you think my chances are getting the visa on Friday?

Thanks for any useful help or info.

    Tony

  5. Did the visa run last week to Cambodia. there are no signs of any conflict on the border, everything was relaxed and very friendly. Some military were driving around on a float and singing, collecting money for the army but absolutely no signs of any trouble.

I went on a tour with 15 people so can't help you there about a small group.

  6. Hi. I am British and came to Thailand as a tourist without a visa in September. Upon arrival I got a stamp in my passport allowing me to stay 30 days. I got this renewed by crossing into Malaysia and coming back the same day (visa run). I did this once more by going to Cambodia. My "stamp" expires now on Dec. 3rd.

Do these "stamps" count as a visa or will I be able to go to Cambodia at the beginning of December and apply for a tourist visa at the Thai Embassy allowing me to stay in Thailand for a further 3 months?

My plans are to stay here for a while but with journeys into other asian countries as well as a visit to the UK for a few days. So I need a visa that allows me to renter Thailand a few times without the visa being discontinued.

Anyone done something similar or have any ideas what is best for me?

Thanks for any help - Tony

  7. Hi there,

tomorrow I have to do a visa run from Bangkok and I booked with a tour company. The return price was only 800 THB so I guess there will be no luxuries like free lunch or movie. I guess also that I will get no help with any paperwork. I don't think that will be a big issue, however, I read so many different tales about getting the visa.

I just read that Cambodia do not accept USD but the agent told me to take 20$. I also read that if you don't spend 1 night in Cambodia the visa costs more.

Has anyone done a visa run to Cambodia (Aranyaprathet) preferably within this last couple of weeks, who can tell me exactly how things work there?

    Thanks in advance - Tony
