It's not weird, it's just a weight. 1 Baht = 15.244 grams. The shops in the malls and in the streets are legitimate and will all display their sell and buy rates. You pay a small premium on top for decorative work. Make sure she keeps the shop receipt for when she wants to sell it.

Note: if taking Thai partner to Japan (that country provides 15 day visa exempt for thai) be aware that Japan counts day one AFTER date of arrival
Inscrutable those Japanese chaps, when they say you have 15 days they actually mean it!

You lost me here, since when we have to count days? Usually they put the last day of your permitted stay in the passport stamp. It's not that the officer will count days when he stamps you out.
Just a shot in the dark here, but perhaps he counted the days when planning the trip, not after arriving?

Immigration most likely wont ask but the airline may well do at check-in. So it would be good to have an onward ticket for sure.
Or why not just get a tourist visa before you travel? That eliminates the issue and also avoids a trip to immigration. E-Visas will start being available in Australia next week.

I recently got a single non-O retirement from the UK. 800,000 in a Thai bank was fine for them.

Thanks for the quick reply, @Upnotover
You're welcome. If you plan travel between now and October you could always put off the extension till later - if you travelled in October for instance you'd get 90 days more on returning (before the 18th) and wouldn't have to do the extension until the end of the year.

Once you are on the annual extension you will need a re-entry permit. The visa is done with.

You need to redo your maths calculations.
Using 2 VE entries in one calendar year + extensions would amount to a total stay of almost 4 months.
30 + 30 + 30 + 30.This "strategy" also includes the initial airport entry + extension, so there are the 2 missing months.

But for people from country who can get 30 days visa exemption, airline is not going to check it.
They may well do if you don't have an onward ticket within 30 days of arrival.

Depends on the airline and how much you pay. Some, like Emirates, charge different amounts for different "premium" seats. You'll almost certainly pay more for the best seat in economy, although sometimes exit rows, for example, are not pre-bookable until check-in.
-
The website instructions tell you to print it. And you keep it.
"After the e-Visa application has been approved, a confirmation e-mail will be sent to applicants, which must be printed out for presenting to airlines and Thai Immigration Officials when traveling to Thailand."

So what's the problem. Your current TM30 status is saved in the computer at Immigration.

Has been already many years like this. -

Just do a 30 day extension..
He can't, he's on a retirement "visa" (presumably an extension thereof).

I guess the obvious answer is to do a border bounce or have a short trip somewhere nice. That'd give you the time you want which could also be easily extended further if needed.

I've known several people whose move to Thailand happened after their home country wives had died. I'm pretty sure none of them would have appreciated your unnecessary intrusion into their lives.

Nope, it's both. GOV.UK could do with updating their site.

Air Cooler: humidity just to 80%

The cool function simply evaporates the water and blows it around your room. So inevitably the humidity will increase. Whether it is useful is moot, but they do seem to sell a lot of them here so must be something of value. Personally I am happy with a fan.
