They told me six months, and it's more than that now, I don't mind waiting, but if they would just acknowledge that they got my email.
Go to their main (UAE) website and use the webchat to chase it up. Make sure you have the ticket number to hand and they can quickly look at the status. You will communicate with a person, not a bot, and get an email of the conversation for your records. Only problem might be they will be rather busy again now due to the UK shutting down flights through UAE.

I accepted an EK voucher in April last year. Decided 2 weeks ago that I'd cash it in as chances of flying this year are slim. Filled in the same form online and the refund was paid by EK in 5 days, +5 more for my UK bank to pass it on to me.

I earlier had a Lloyds International account which worked fine for me. Currently looks like they have a monthly fee of £7.50 and need either a deposit of GBP25K or annual income over GBP50K. Of course that's not to say they won't increase their fees the moment you open an account.

I have a Thai driving licence and a bank account yes - thanks for the suggestions. However, I can only get a 3 month Non O from the Thai embassy in the UK, they stopped issuing 12 month multis when they went over to the E-Visa system. I very much doubt I could convince anyone that I live in Thailand with one 90 day entry.
Depends who's looking at the visa. Plod won't have a clue what a non-O entitles you too and it is not stated on the visa that you get a 90 day entry. Anyone actually familiar with the Thai visa system would likely know that you are able to get an in-country extension and stay there forever.

Not on the red list so fine for the moment, at least until all the footballers and "influencers" start heading to Doha for their selfies.

Do you really have nothing to show you live in Thailand? Bank account, driving license, yellow book, etc? As for your expiring non-O there is nothing to stop you getting a new one before you leave. Probably you're right that flights will become fewer in the coming weeks, that might be the biggest hurdle.

Thanks and that's excellent advice. It's perhaps my fault to not making it 100% clear that we live in Thailand.
Quite right, not everybody knows Bangkok is in Thailand.

That's news to me.
Apparently so, I've missed seeing 2,134,709 of them.

Is it still 90 days VOA for uk citizens?
It never has been. It's 30 days visa exempt (currently 45 to compensate for quarantine), 60 days with a single entry tourist visa or 90 days with a non-O visa. The 9 months mentioned probably relates to the Special Tourist Visa which may or may not be available.

The three senior ministry sources, who requested anonymity because they were not authorised to speak to media
So why did they? On any subject they just can't keep their mouths shut.

Still below the 200.000 Baht limit, which is needed to declare
Indeed, makes you wonder why he felt the need to lie about it's value. Out of habit I guess.

London Embassy has the following statement, which suggests an onward/return ticket would be needed;
Certificate of Entry (COE)
**Holders of British/Irish passports, as well as 54 other nationalities entitled to 30-day visa exemption, can go to Thailand for tourism purpose for up to 45 days without visa. Proof of air tickets that the applicant will not overstay and health insurance are required for COE application.**

As you only need to maintain 400k mid-year you could move it in 2 chunks a few days/weeks apart. That might help (or confuse them further ????).

Without that letter you will have a lot of trouble getting stuff moved
Doubtful the OP will be concerned about that, he's Thai.

You don't physically have to submit your application to VFS. You can assign the task to anyone you choose or use an agent such as Key Visa to do it for you. A far better idea than risking sending it to the UK.

ok, please let me get this straight , the developers and producers of the vaccines say TWO DOSES, about a month apart , and this thai expert says : 'nah, only one'; uh huh
That's also what the UK is doing. The theory being that the additional protection from the second dose is marginal. I presume that decision was made based upon some credible research, though by whom I do not know.

Thanks thats about £10k which is no problem as school costs about twice that amount.
Next question is obviously do they always extend after 1 year?
I've sole custody of my kid, hence worried about going there and not getting visa extended in 2/3/4/5 years.
Yes it's about £10k but it only has to make a short annual appearance and it stays your money. There is no reason at all why the extension wouldn't be renewed provided she continues to live with you and doesn't pass 20. And certainly no reason to pay for an elite visa.

You will be able to get a 12 month extension of stay after the initial 90 day visa entry. You will need to meet the financial requirements. This extension can be renewed annually. See also this thread;
