  1. Yes, a mate is flitting in and out of Bangkok from Australia (4 times in 6 mos) with all the paperwork and testing. No problem he says. So far no quarantine for him
  2. Very, very true. And even between staff in branches. My local BBL branch appears to be using the foreign transactions desk as a retirement job for ancient, very rigid (mai dai, mai dai) staff about to go. The branch up the road has an excellent foreign transactions desk who could not be more helpful.
  3. Thanks for your info. Who (in Thailand) did you apply to to get your Thailand Pass? Or did you apply to overseas embassy from Thailand?
  4. Check out the after sales and service of retailers. Some are dreadful. Having said that, when comparing small jap cars, remember honda san was an engineer who prioritized reliability and durability above marketing promos. This is a good thing
  5. Re re-entry, how much can you put in place before leaving rather than dealing with it from overseas. For example, if the Thailand Pass is reinstated, were you able to get that before leaving (assuming you knew your arrival date, etc.)?
  6. Thanks for starting this topic. Have been wrestling with this question also. Hopefully will learn something
  7. Many, many Thais would disagree with this perception. They know that their institutions & services are completely bent. They're amused when naïve foreigners do not take measures to protect themselves or expect 'good service, honesty and lack of rip offs'
  8. Don't know about Phuket, but I found that face to face communication eventually worked (though not at first). As with many things Thai, relationships trump procedures, so personal interaction (provided you are pleasant) is usually best. As well as that, IT and apps are a nightmare. Its a hassle but go and see them
  9. 'encourage Thais to do likewise' Is this a tad patronising? e.g. lets show some commonsense and encourage ....... (brits, americans, indians, germans, etc. fill in the space) to do likewise
  10. Do not think he has much to whinge about as Thailand Elite are repeatedly announcing these conditions such as below probably aimed at members like the poster. The info has always been freely available and accessible. Its the members' obligation to read it. I do not think they could dumb it down much more. From recent Thailand Elite communication .... "Under the Thai Immigration law, it is illegal for foreigners to overstay the visa or permission to stay in Thailand. Thailand Elite members are required to extend your stay permission before the expiry date stated in your arrival stamp or your extension stamp, otherwise you will be considered as 'overstay'.The penalties for overstaying in Thailand vary depending on the length of time you have stayed in the country past the visa expiration such as a fine, ban from entering the country, imprisonment, and deportation."
  11. Simple question (I hope): On the Insurance page what does "Effective Date dd/mm/yyyy ▢" refer to? The final date of the insurance cover, the commencement date of the policy or something else? Thanks very big
  12. "changing to the expensive Elite this leaving the country nonsense does not seem to apply" Straightforward question. Straightforward answer: true, you do not have to leave the country
