  1. So long as these asset purchases continue to be financed predominantly from cash rather than debt, the only froth and bubble are these regular stories.

    ------------------

Can you in fact verify that they are being financed from cash and not debt as you say?

I mean I just don't know the case, but i strongly suspect that isn't the case.

I suspect that many condo purchases anyhow are speculative and are being purchased for investment and rental.

I personally doubt that more than 50% of condo purchases are actually occupied by the owner.

To me, that's the sign of a "bubble" about to break.

Samran did not say that they are financed from cash he said as long as.....

  2. Forcing people to buy insurance is ridiculous...why can't the hospitals take responsibility for their own decisions on they choose to treat or not treat..plain and simple...I for one would refuse to be coerced into purchasing something I don't agree with...Sounds like to me the Insurance are actually the ones behind this strong arm tactic

    Total rubbish.

So if you are involved in an serious accident or suffer a major heart attack and require urgent medical attention otherwise you would die, but do not have enough funds to meet the costs of your treatment, then the hospital consider you unworthy for treatment, would you agree with the decision of the hospital?

No! Not if these issues affected you are someone close to you personally.

You would be thinking; if only I would have taken out full accident or medical insurance policy coverage.

The Point I'm trying to make is I don't agree with FOIRCING people to have to do something like buy insurance...stop going off on tangents.....Maybe I'd rather take the chance and not buy it and if something dopes happen will pay out of pocket...MY choice and its always about ones choice...not extortion

Try to get insurance if you are over 70, and a rhumatic prob or kidney stones, Please give info ???

Love totake one out, SO PLEASE make me buy one.

I also would like to know who will insure for which amount people above 70

  3. 40 % of this hospital visits is made by expats living in the country. A higher fee on air fare and hotels does not effect the expats living in Thailand.

But if these fees are implemented does that mean as an expat living in the Kingdom we get free medical care?

Or will the next rule be: A proof of medical insurance when you apply for a visa?

As far as I'm aware, you can't get medical insurance in Thailand unless you are under 60 years old, so that would mean once expats reach 60 they will have to go back to their own countries as they won't get a visa to live here with no medical insurance. I don't think so, Thailand does not want us, but they want our money.

What would happen if all us old geezers where forced to leave Thailand because of health insurance issue's I wonder what would become of the wife's and families they support and many other spends and help they give the local economy I think if the government could calculate that(not easy) we would hear no more about how much we are costing the health service .

I am sure they come up with all these plans just to give us something to discuss on TV and of course like all government departments worldwide they need something to think about.

I for one just pick up sticks and ship out without a backward glance .

Well, you are right, kind of! You can't get health insurance after to BUT you can get it at 59! So why not take the plunge just to be covered? Once you have insurance, they CANNOT drop you when you turn 60.

    take the plunge at 72?

  5. ...

The Thai will not shake their head in disbelief ... but I do.

    ...

I think most Thais not only aren't disbelieving, but the SILENT majority actually approves of this status quo and an "elite" young man like that actually going to prison for a well deserved LONG TERM with the peasants in the same conditions as the peasants would be shocking and disturbing. I know that's going to piss some people off but where is the evidence/action to show that isn't true?

I am not so sure about this.Last year a son of a wealthy business man in our village killed a woman during a car accident he did not take the blame but an employee of his father who sat in the car with him.People said he had to take the blame to keep his job. They were very angry. Two days ago somebody took a shot at the son.He missed him,but a few hours later the son went to Bangkok.

  6. Wow. The thought of medical insurance required to obtain a visa. Moronic at best.

    Why moronic?

some people who on a visit had an accident and ran up a very high bill in ther hospital.Friends and family had to collect money to get him/her out of hospital.in Had Yai last year one ran up a bill of a few million Bath he could not pay and the hospital made a loss.It is irresponsible not to get a medical insurance.

  7. For the life of me I cannot understand the mentality of someone who would even risk what this woman risked. I know from time to time we have issues with Thai people That is the cultural devide but to try and steal a camera is stupid To try and steal a camera from an Emigration officer is moronic .

I would have been better to just pay the overstay and go Now she had to sit in prison and pay a 6,000 baht fine

Lady take a hard look in the mirror

bad advice.even with a soft look in the mirror she would faint

  8. What exactly is the OP's problem.?

Didn't read all the posts but fairly sure he's from the states

He wrote: "Finally the Austrian Embassy was allowed to pay me a visit to get the cash for the flight ticket."

an Austrian .I am not surprised. What is he complaining about? For him it was a home away from home

  9. I can't believe some of the comments on here....rape is rape. It doesn't matter how drunk (or not drunk) you are. No one deserves something like this. Pretty bad of her "friend" to leave her like that, especially in that condition. Enough of the victim-blaming. It's 2013 already. I don't care if this girl was high on drugs and flashing herself...there is.no excuse to rape someone. Hopefully they catch the perpetrators.

nothing will happen to them if they are sons of police officers like the scumin phuket and Chalerm sons
