  1. Anyone who generalises is an idiot.

    Idiots such as:

Newton, whom generalized Galileo's discussion of falling objects and projectiles

Einstein, whom generalized the laws concerning electric and magnetic fields, and hence light.

Are those the type of idiots you refer to?

Generalizations can form an import role in the quest for knowledge.

  2. Any ladyboy who ASSUMES their "customer" knows they are a ladyboy is taking a stupid risk. I know plenty of blokes whom would not hesitate to physically assault the ladyboy for deceiving them when playtime comes around.

  3. "Police are also asking Farangs to have their picture taken with white makeup on their faces and blue coloring on their lips to help the police identify them should they be found dead."

"It is being decided at this time weather or not we (police) will also require a picture of the Farang floating face down in a river said Police Chief Ayathu. The Chief also suggested that Farangs carry at least 100,000 baht on their person at all times."

  4. " To fully induce drive immediately [ Ok ] , must not repair ( gum, rubber, tire state good ) , the brake is good , the don't go up , must not do a color , a motorcycle has the register is correct , can go to transfer the right of ownership has that Department of Land Bangkok Transport has no a problem "

Ready for immediate sale, no repairs needed (gum *referring to the amylaceous substance or rather the coating the seat has protecting it from the elements ie no cracks to tears) , rubber (referring to the rubber parts of the vehicle like the handlebars rubber covering), tires are good) the brakes work good, seat doesnt go up, no scratches (not having to paint or touch up scratches ie..color) The vehicls registration matches the bike and is in good standing, the green book can be transferred to the new owner.

  5. OP, please don't listen to any of the answers to this thread.

I am the head partner in a multinational law firm that represents individuals whom have lost face in various situations.

Just last week we we're successful in our representation of a woman whom had forgotten to wear a bra under a white silk blouse. Of course it rained that day and she was quite embarrassed having to walk home with her breasts plainly visible, and as such we brought an action against the local weather station for failure to accurately predict the rain shower. I am very happy to report we won the case and got her well into the three figures.

Please PM me and I will provide our account number for our bank in Vanuatu for you to wire our retainer fee.

I feel we have an excellent chance of getting compensations for you.

  6. This thread just serves up another hearty helping of proof that even if we share the same basic language we're all to happy to flame one another for their perceived improprieties of its application.

And allowing it to "drive you nuts" is really scary because if that is the case then you need to be sequestered in a small padded room, your appendages bound and receiving regular doses of sedatives until such time as trained medical professionals determine you are safe to be released back into the general population.

That being said, as a "Yank" my favorite moves are of the likes of Lock Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels, Snatch and RockinRolla as I am impressed with the intricate details the actors weave the language with the slang into something that is smart and funny at the same time.

Some people enjoy blowing a fag, in either case I think it's a nasty habit.

  7. I signed up there back in December.

Ice, or whatever the hel_l the dudes name that signed me up started out at 2999 a month. After a week of ignoring his offers I settled at 1000 bhat a month.

The place is closer to a nightclub than a gym and the free weight room has 2000 sq. m. of equipment crammed into a space half it's size.

The use the same high pressure tactics that used car dealers use....lol.

  8. even worse than this silly blog is the rather vicious, aggressive and nasty posts by men. Why people who can post such awful things as a few people here, consider themselves superior, I do not understand.

I don't expect you to understand. That would require logic, something women are not genetically programed for. Emotions are a woman's domain, not a mans and as such, we merely point out the relevant logical conclusions we come to after reading the emotional presentation of the woman in question.

None of us men here are interested in discussing how we "feel" about the girls blog, or how it her blog effects us emotionally.

No, as men we are going to discuss the logical points relevant to what we think will be the outcome of her trip and time spent in LOS.

You reacted emotionally to the postings, and I suspect you will react emotionally to this post.

Call me names etc, makes no difference.

But understand, you, a woman being a creature of emotion is whats makes males attracted to your gender in the first place. Creatures of logic (men) and creatures of emotion (women) create a natural attraction to one another and sure, it doesn't work out many times due in part or in whole to the same factors that created the attraction.... logic and emotion.

  9. The sad part is, it is painfully obvious that she wont actually learn any life lessons from her time in LOS.

She may...possibly.... realize near the end of her life, that her only purpose was to serve as a warning to others.

  10. Well dmax, I hope you learned your lesson about asking for advice on these forums.

So far, I count only 3 posts out of 14 in response to your question that actually try to give you some positive advice.

You'd have better chance at operating a successful bar in LOS then getting a straight answer on these forums :o

There are plenty of people on these forums that have all the reasons in the world why something wont work, yet it's neigh impossible for them to come up with ways something will work.

Take a poll of the responders, how many do you think have actually owned a bar? How many have actually owned any sort of business? (and of those was the business actually successful?)

I'll give you my 2 cents or pence or whatever tiny denomination of advice you want to correlate it to.

I have owned a bar back in the states. Does that qualify me as an expert on owning a bar in LOS? NO.

But I can throw some advice your way that may help you determine if that's what you want to do.

    1) Come to LOS with expectations of yourself, but have none of the country or its people...be open minded, with an understanding your in their country and will have to play by their rules.

    2) The rules/laws in LOS apply differently to different people. One rule that seems to be true more than any other is the goledn rule: he whom has the gold makes the rules.

    3) Corruption is a part of life here so factor that in to your thinking and your balance sheet, it may or may not be a cost of doing business.

    4) When researching a potantial purchase of an existing bar, or starting one remember a very important rule: Your get what you INSPECT not what you EXPECT. Dont rely on financials provided by a seller, nor by any sorts of proof anyone involved provides. Remember you get what you INSPECT which means if your looking to by an existing bar, you sit across the street or in the bar itself, and count the patrons EVERY NIGHT from start to close....how many drinks serverd (on average), who's buying what or playing what games...you must do this for at the very least a full week so you get an idea of the traffic.

    5) Controll. What controlls can you put in place to ensure your know whos got whos hands in your cookie jar. Are you willing to be there every night working (not drinking or partying it up)? Cameras on the registers/tills? What type of ownership entity are you going to have for the bar? Perhaps you need to structure your investment as a loan so that you have a surviving lein on the property or business should something amiss happen. Tax laws and consequences etc. Alcohol.... is you bar tender(s) wasting bottles? How much are they pouring per drink? Are they selling under the table?

At a bar association gathering I went to back in the states, one of the speakers told a story of his being unable to figure out how he was losing money in one of his bars. He hired an investigator whom sat in the bar every night. The investigator came back with nothing....he said "Your bar tender puts the cash from every sale in one of the three cash registers, I cant figure it out" That was the scam....there we're only 2 cash registers in the bar... the third one was one brought in by the bar tender.

You will have to assume because it's Thailand, your employes will try to rip you off. No, that does not mean that they will....there are plenty of storys of exemplorary Thai employess whom would bend over backwards to do good, but assuming the opposite of your employes stealing, will gaurntee you wont catcth them if they do.

Learn to test your employees. Greed is a powerful weapon you can use to root out potential theives.

Owning a bar is work, and so you need to search your sould to find out if you can have fun watching others have fun in your establishment while you consentrate on running it and providing a fun atmosphere. This is key. I had fun watching others have fun knowing I was making money.

Good luck, and remember the old war addage, "The more you bleed in training the less you bleed in battle" Do your research....you can never do enough.

  11. As a disabled vet having bled for my country.....

I will shed no tear if I hear of your assassination.

I will not visit your grave nor mourn your loss.

Far to long have politicians such as yourself and those that have come before you bled this country and perverted it for your own and your constituents gains.

Every rock thrown, every shoe hurled and every insult printed against you will only raise my spirits.

    dam_n you to hel_l.

  12. As a Disabled Veteran whom left parts of myself in the Desert of Iraq, I can honestly say I am yet again ashamed, and embarrassed of my fellow countrymen.

No I was not a Bush supporter.

I'm one of the few but growing Libertarians. Our Candidate Ron Paul would have provided the education, and the chance to begin setting things straight that our nation needs so bad.

But yet again in true American form, the huddled masses we're spoon fed lies and schemes, that which was exactly what they wanted to hear: Hope.

Let me tell you about hope.

Hope is the PERFECT word for a politician to use.

Hope requires NOTHING to exist. It provides nothing but an imagined sense of something better.

Hope wont get up in the morning to deliver your mail, fight fires, build schools, teach children or any one of the occupations that keeps a country progressing.

No, hope is nothing more than a pacifier. It was stuck in the mouths of the overweight the lazy the afraid the uneducated the illegals and the buffoons that have multiplied to form the greatest mass of entitlement minded people which unfortunately have the right to vote......a right I gave blood for Im now sad to say.

So enjoy your Hope....as it will probably be the only thing you will have if this keeps up.

  13. I go to the one on Sukhumvit, and yeah it's packed with the gays. The dude that signed me up was so delicate I thought I might crush his hand if I shook it...lol

Any way, yeah it's quite noticeable when their eyes never rise above crotch level, but only had to "correct" one of them who was peeking threw a hole in the stall next to me...I'm 5'11, 210Lbs former American football player, and a hefty punch on my stall wall saw him bolt out of his stall...HA!

But I prefer Thailand's Buddhist acceptance of people just being who they are than the American Christian idiocy of everything being a sin against this and that.

Besides, being hit on by a gay guy really is a compliment, as guys are guys gay or not and being hit on means you have some level of attractiveness.

  14. Well, the job I'd love to have if I was Thai would be the guy taking complaints or reports of troubles from Falangs. I'd sit there having their complete attention, taking notes with a concerned look on my face then when they're done, hand them a one page full color information brochure explaining the history, meaning and application of mai phen rai.

  15. I had to ask my driver to pull over so I could answer this one. Even though these new Mercedes S550's are smooth as silk you still feel the BKK roads some times. I agree with the OP. I mean how could someone under 50 have any ability to survive outside their mothers womb much less their own country. First of all trying to do something legal like work of all things and be able to budget and plan for expenses is something that can never be learned much less achieved. When I came here it was a struggle just to open an anonamous bank accout having to bribe the bank VP nearly $50,000 US just to be able to wire $15,000,000.00 US under the radar from one of my non OECS island accounts.

Ill admit I'm a ripe old 32 and am having some trouble with the language. Just the other day I was floating in my negative edge pool in my penthouse and asked one of my bodyguards for my cook to make me one of those tasty mango drinks and I swear they look at me the same way one of my dobermans look at my answering machine when it hears my voice on it. To actually live legaly here one would have to be nuts. If it wasn't for the Thai's ability to jazz up the guidance boards from the North Korean Taopedong missiles, I dont think I'd have a dam_n thing left to sell to the Russians.
