  1. Zoo coming to Ubon in 2013

    Ubon-zoo-220x119.jpg

Ubon Ratchathani will have it’s own zoo very soon.

Construction has been going on since the beginning of 2012, and the new zoo will be expected to open for the public in the middle of 2013.

The Zoo is open-style, which means that visitors will be driving around watching the animals in their natural environment.

The Ubon zoo will be the biggest in the region.

  2. Have you thought of flying to Ubon rather than going by train? It's only about an hour's flight and Nok Air/Air Asia are really cheap.

On my way to Ubon, by train from Hualumphong Station.

I was due to arrive in BKK at 6 pm, so too late for a plane to catch to Ubon. That's why I wanted to go by train. Did it before, many years ago.

Plane was delayed 45 minutes. Was afraid I would miss the 20.30 train to Ubon. Didn't have to worry after all since the train was about 45 minutes late ...

  3. Agree, I've had nothing but good service and decent prices at B-Quick even when they're not necessarily familiar they're willing to listen and learn and work with the customer which earns top marks where I'm concerned..

May have something to do with them being a German owned and managed outfit.

Actually it's Danish owned as I recall.. But your point is taken and understood, though there are plenty of farang owned businesses here that either still don't get it or just can't get it across to their Thai staff..So kudos to them for accomplishing that difficult task..

B Quick is a Dutch owned company.

  4. I love the way many Thais say they don't like foreign food and that they only eat Thai food yet to a man (and lady) they will lap up BBQ, which is clearly a million miles away from Thai in style.

The one on the intersection one block north of Ubon Rak Hospital is also a good one of its type in terms of price and choice.

    Also buffet style?

  5. Last night the wife and I went to a Thai restaurant in Ubon: a place where you barbecue everything yourself at your table. The difference with most of these kinds of restaurants is that this one has a large buffet. So you go and get everything yourself.

You only pay 159 Baht per person.

No English signs on the illuminated billboard, but you will recognize it once you're there. It has '159' on the billboard, as well as the number 4, the time the restaurants open in the afternoon.

You will find this restaurant on Chaeng Sanit Road. Coming from the roundabout the restaurant is on the left hand side, next to Home Mart.

    Kind regards

    Chris

  6. Its called terro pco. Really small bottle, always near the bottom of the shelf- now that I think of it, I got it at foodland, not villa.

    Here some info about it:
