"no more accident than the rest of the junctions all over Thailand,"
There are no stats on this, so, make something else up. ( lay off the Chang)
No worries.
I will leave this thread now.
You carry on.
You have a nice day
i am going to enter this post under your other ongoing thread about good news in pattaya/Jomtien.
Good news indeed
-
dammit I missed those morning BIB checks but it does make me wonder ........................... so many recent comments about the Wat Boon/Second Road roundabout on TVF and then suddenly we get huge new signs trying to explain how to use it.
Why would City Hall suddenly do that? Or maybe locals did them !
If Thais & others don't know how to use it then why would anyone ask and/or complain ?
Is anybody listening to this thread ............. ?

Nang Ram beach....U-Tapao (I think same as mentioned earlier).
yes that's the one we visit - thanks
And yes you do a U- turn in front of a lone but major hill and then a left to the naval base etc
-
I would love to be able to walk into a restaurant/cafe and have Spam with Egg and Beans. I was brought up with spam in London, during and after the war. That was one of the few meats we could, get so I'm told
Are you a lumberjack? If you are, that's OK.
No I'm not a lumberjack and I don't wear women's clothes .But I do hang around in bars.
happy days eh?

generally true KK but we visit Sai Kaew often at weekends (actually the beach about 1km further on from the main car park ) but get there about 0930'ish when it's cooler and quite empty (park car under the pine trees) and depart about lunch time to early p.m. and that's when it really does get busy
A pleasant well organised and very clean 'resort' area
-
the current very narrow & acute U-turn shapes should prohibit anything other than one vehicle trying to take the U-turns (but that wont stop them trying and causing chaos I suppose). so not really the same objective you mentioned as up in KK.
NL #158 - Just re-checked this morning and directly opposite both new U-turns short stretches of no-parking zones could be implemented as there are very few shops there either side BUT elsewhere the roadside shops etc would justifiably protest if no parking was implemented.
Who obeys 'no parking' rules anyway ?
KhunBENQ could you get any more close up pics of those turns up there ? Thanks
I am beginning to think that any approach to City hall would be to forget the whole idea and make us use the traffic lights either end (as we do now) .............. but then the Soi Wat Boon lights would need to be addressed & re-thought
However nothing ventured etc etc
-
also .............. on our racetrack there are often cars parked on the inside lane(s) north and southbound leaving in effect only 3 available lanes. In these pics looks like all 4 lanes are used with no kerbside parking. If our outside fast lane(s) were coned off for the U-turn then only 2 'free' effective traffic lanes.
Any thoughts? Ban all parking on that section ??? Ummmmmmm.
-
good stuff - thanks to all
Cant really see but how are cars handled when entering into a fast lane from exiting a U-turn ? Is it like a pit lane slip road in F1 ?
-
ref NL's post #147
If anyone could help prepare a schematic / diagram representing the KK solution he ouitlined so i could take to City Hall Transport Dept. i would do so
Something i could print showing various angles/approaches would be great
Sadly my computer skills aren't up to that
PM me please if interested
Thanks in advance draw

SOS, Sh - - on a shingle, chipped beef on toast and biscuits and gravy with sausage
Not sure if this is getting off the topic, but you may not be aware that the Moonshine Bar (soi 4) makes pretty good SOS (American style). Both the Moonshine Bar and Pastrami on Rye make biscuits and gravy w/ sausage.
They use ground beef; that is not authentic. It's supposed to be CHIPPED beef.
And the Pontiff has spoken ................... yet again ... so listen up
-
well unfortuynately you will just have to wait so why not get back to your Changs or even have a few more while you are waiting
-
The Isaan Forum has been asked if they can help supply pics etc from Khon Kaen for use down here. Thanks to NL

Bacon and eggs, with bananas fried in butter with a bit of cinnamon sprinkled on top,
like we do in South Africa.
happy memories indeed - nice smells too

JT - how on earth can you seriously state this ............."Most chefs think breakfast is the stupidest meal" (#24) ?
What actually you mean? What are you trying to say ?
Talk to a bunch of chefs and you'll get it.
Most people want BORING, SAME OLD SAME OLD for breakfast.
Decent chefs can do that with their eyes closed.
Customers tend to be more open to innovation for lunch and dinner.
well if MOST guys as you say want then they want.
What's the problem?
is it that it doesn't meet your expectations ?
-
now re-read this post #147 several times and in this U-turn predicament it surely would work
How to get this investigated by City Hall and possibly implemented is now the question
Any suggestions welcome
-
I am staying in Jomtien but truth is I am very very happy with the Retox (Soi Lengkee-
off Buakao) baht -buster English breakfast for 98 baht, (best value in Pattaya, and
excellent quality). It has a little bit of everything. If I am staying in Jomtien I have the
Norwegian or English at the Monkey House on Soi 7, Jomtien (beside the LEK hotel)
They are 160-170 baht respectively, but you had better be hungry they are large. 3
eggs in the English and three pieces of toast in both. You will be stuffed. I recommend
everyone try both places.
The OP is asking what you'd like and is NOT available here in Pattaya

Breakfast is, perhaps, my most important meal. I miss chicken fried steak (hopefully, made with top quality ground round from the USA/Canada), w/ gravy, hashbrowns, eggs over-easy, and biscuits.......very healthy (not).
I am willing to pay 220 bhat (no more). So, that pretty much means that I will not be seeing this anytime soon.
But why can't anyone make real hash browns (actually, the Continental does but they give it some Swiss name.....rosti?).
serious question ........ what is the whitish 'gravy'/sauce ?
-
what an interesting report and possible solution
And as NanLaew says someone in authority with understanding, awareness, creativity and good common sense.
Would be great if a Thai TV member could translate this and get it to City Hall ....................... or maybe even a new sign(s) and I'd definitely contribute to that sign(s)
Thanks

1. Ham off the bone (a thick slice), Colemans proper mustard (ie not from a jar) with a well poached egg.
2. Kippers not from a vacuum pack

i am intrigued onemorechang to see that you have posted at least 24 posts to this thread (out of nearly 150 with over 5,000 views) but have not in my opinion actually contributed anything of value to the serious matter in hand. Of course that is your right
Looking at your posts again I now believe you have no idea where these U-turns are located, have never seen them and do not even know where Macro (sic) is.
Do you actually drive? I suspect not and maybe that is the reason you have so much time to make so many posts on so many topics, most of which in my view are simply fatuous.
As the OP i certainly would appreciate not having to wade through your rubbish and allow this debate to continue sensibly over time.
Could you oblige?
-
just in case you choose not to read the posts onemorechang as my neighbour just said if you used these U-turns you might well disappear up your own a..hole !
And THAT is the difference ................... assuming of course that the fast lane and very fast outside lane lunatics don't get you first
-
Got a question.
So why is this U-turn so different to all the other U-turns
all the way to say Sattahip ?
or Laem Chabang ?
apart from proximity to Makro,
a very slow day indeed ...................
You reply to so many posts every day but do you ever read them first?
It might help answer your own question
-
but it seems every day is a slow one for the OP but some ARE slower than others
Two new year U-turns .............
in Pattaya
Posted
1030 Wednesday - massive tail-back on Suk northbound starting just south of the new U-turn.
White road painting work being done in centre lanes.
Anyone can see/read what's what ?
Maybe nothing but watch this space .......................
