One that happens to me more than it should, and still kind of blows my mind after many years and happening to me many times is that you will be quickly approaching someone ahead of you, there's plenty of space for you to pass on the left or right but with the person ahead of you still 3-10 feet in front, just as you are making your move to pass, they will move abruptly into your path blocking your way. The person has their back to you and it is unlikely they know you are approaching, especially if you are wearing soft soled shoes, but nevertheless the person in front seems to somehow know someone is coming and that they should now get in your way. It happens far too often for it to be just some fluke and there is no other place in the world, no matter how crowded the city, New York, Seoul, San Francisco, London, where it is ever happened to me that people just routinely and very deliberately walk in front of me when they don't even know I'm there. Used to happen to me about once or twice a month over the decade I spent living in Bangkok. Seems almost symbolic of much of what happens in general daily life in Thailand, that people just try and obstruct and stop others from simply getting from point a to point b. And yes I should stop whingeing and just go back to my country.
I thought it was just me, the exact thing happens at least once a week. Its as if they have a radar and know when to block you.

Tiger balm for my aunty.

This is good news for me, getting taxies at 1am on new years has always being a hassle.

as mentioned by other posters, theres a huge mistake in the article, Pattaya beach is filthy, no one would vote for that beach.

Manhattan Chidlom is pet freindly but it may be too expensive.

Really try to avoid taxis as there is always an issue. Take motorcycles and skytrain. Always take airport train ( even though its so packed) so I can avoid the taxis.

Location is 15 minute walk from chitlom bts
-
I followed the advice of the best ThaiVisa moderator, Sheryl, and went to Dental Hospital in Suk 49, near Samitivej Hospital. It is 15 minutes walk from BTS or a short motorbike ride, but pleasant, painless and professional. Most patients are farang and costs are high by Thai standards, though.
I got a post and crown here 5years ago and they are still perfect. Some people have negative comments about this place but I recommend it. Last time I visited was in March for check up and clean. The costs are high but a third of what I would pay in Ireland.

My freinds live in Ari, they say its a lot nicer than Sukhumvit. Take a trip on the skytrain and find out for yourself.

Uber is very clear about rates to and from airport. OP, if I was part of the Uber ops team in Thailand,I would cite defamation.
PS it's 3000 from the airport to Pattaya. 1000 to Suvarnabhumi, and either 500 or 1000 to DMK.
As mentioned, it is not displayed on the android app.

How can anyone NOT know they charge 1000 to the airports?
It is all over the place in their material, site, etc.
Uber is great for some things. Outstanding. If you are taller than 150 cm ... and if you are perhaps 190 or 2 meters tall you will appreciate the back seat of a new Camray. The quiet in Uber Black cars is great. Usually they have a bottle of water. Often a hand towel. One thing is certain: silence.
I am free to make calls, go to sleep or whatever. I can sent it to pick up a friend and drop them off as if it were my personal driver. Try that with a yellow taxi, even if they are a friendly. And I have friendly taxi drivers that have used over the years. also motorcycle drivers - we use for documents or to pay the electric bill.
I like sitting in a business meeting at the conference table, and when finishing a meeting, i quietly pull out my phone and call Uber. They guy is waiting downstairs at the entrance, usually standing with the back seat door open, saying "Welcome Mr. Bill (whatever my name is).
On many occasions I have clients with me. They are impressed. Most think it is my personal driver.
I went out with a girl and had one car and driver. Nice ride. Later that night called another to pick us up and looked like same car to her. She thought I had 2 drivers heh heh heh.
Aside from impressing everyone, I do it for myself because the extra money is worth the comfort. Very simply, the new car, space, professional style, quiet convenient billing to my card, trip report mailed to me, are all worth it.
Any time I had a problem (and I have had a few along the way - some my fault, some theirs) their customer service were excellent. I have gotten credit and free rides more than once if they screwed up.
Happy Uber User.
I did not know , if I did know than I would not have used them. Only ever used the android uber app and it never displayed the price of 1000bt anywhere on the App as you can see is an extra 400bt if it was normally charged.
Around town Uber is fine but the airport standard charge is over priced.

Just a little warning with Uber.
Being using Uber around Bangkok for the last few months and happy with them so ordered a cab to Don Mu
I always use the Uber app and it said I could get 200bt off the trip.
Unlike Grabtaxi with automatically adds the promotion to your account with Uber you have to apply for it beforehand.
Additional unknown to me, the website says flatfee to airport is 1000bt.
In short a trip that should have cost a few hundred but ended up costing me a 1000bt.
They were very kind to show me the original fare and than readjusted it to a 1000bt.
Uber response was basically ‘tough luck’.
*extra 70bt was the toll.

Was passing by a few sundays back when the Q was small. Its basically an extra large fried chicken snitzel with extra spices if you want.
Its tastes good but its just fast (not so fast) food.

Did you have any issues buying games in bangkok and playing them on the foreign console?
To be honest I haven't bought a game here yet. I have found some stores that look as if they sell completely legit games here. They said they had PAL & NTSC. With that in mind, most games I've purchased have been through download... though I do usually prefer physical media.
Thanks for advice

Thats the exact opposite advise I would give single men in Bangkok. enjoy yourself , do not get yourself a respectable thai gf, you will not be single forever so enjoy it while it lasts.

This isnt just Thailand, the world we live in is so hectic, it makes everyone grumpy and less chilled. Qing makes me grumpy no matter what city i am in. Wouldnt worry about it.

You know you are in Thailand when you have toilet paper on the dining table.

Took 10minutes to arrive, hassle free and not expensive. But it depends how many drivers are working, the more than the better.

Khao San, Sukhumvit 11 eg Cheap Charlies & Tapas, RCA, networking events such as British Womens' Club, ladies nights just about anywhere that isn't infested with freelancers or BGs.
The ones that hang out on soi 11 normally head to Levels after or Oscars if it still open.
withdrawing USD in Suvarnabhumi

I have withdrawn euros and dollars at the foreign currency atms, there is a few dotted around the airport at international departures. I have only being given 50s and 100s from them.
If you use a non thailand debit/credit card, you would be charged around 200bt by the thai atm, you may also be charged by your own bank.
Exchange baht for usd at the exchange counters would be a cheaper option.
