[if] the losses are deemed as not resulting from the mistake or negligence of cardholders, card-issuing banks will be responsible for the losses.”

Best of luck with this bank policy. I had 50,000 baht skimmed about 18 months ago from Kasikorn bank and I had really no explanation or interest from them in my loss. Too bad was their reaction. I cancelled my ATM card and only use my book for transactions. Sure it's a pain, but better than the worry about fraud.

If I have over 100K in a single account, I do the same thing.

When i used Fed Ex it was Fed Ex that5 delivered it.

and when DHL is used it is DHL which delivers it. i get at least once a month a DHL document shipment.

The problem is DHL and Fed Ex tax the hell out of you, plus more. You must be an employee or family member because most people don't use them.

I want to add that I consider myself a feminist. You do not need a vagina to be a feminist. Being a feminist includes thinking adult women are strong and can think and make adult decisions for themselves. Actually, you bring up an excellent point about the Thai guy subject.

There seems to be a new move over the last few years to create a different standard for foreign men in such cases. Any promises made to a Thai woman is like a verbal contract. There are female lawyers taking these cases pro bono to try to set a precedent. I know of several situations where these pro bono lawyers take on seemingly groundless cases.

On the other hand, Thai guys do the same and much worse and it's written off as Thai culture.

Yeah i think it starts with that police officers have a very low salary which almost forces them into this. One thing that is needed if a reform can succeed or not is a hike in salary with at least 10.000 baht. A normal thai police officer have a salary around 13-15.000 baht per month and this is in Bkk how many of you can live off of that. Thats what i spend on a slow week.

So for bribery cases to hike police officers salaries and then when that is done they need to be reprimanded or fired and put on trial like everyone else for their crimes.

A few years ago i was in moscow playing american football in the eurobowl. One of the days during our stay there two of my teammates where robbed in broad daylight by police officers just outside our hotel.

Its not only thai police that are corrupt.

The salary they get is considered their base salary. Police management knows they can get more. It's like a waitress getting minimal salary knowing she will get tips.

I have been involved in the public schools "upcountry". The skimming is massive and so are the lies to justify their behavior. If the cost of public schools are going up then the skimmers are just getting more greedy.

As a foreign teacher, it is often required to give monthly kick backs just to get your job. If you have an agency that's an absolute. But that's true for public schools throughout Thailand. That has nothing to do with the budget but it just goes to show the level of corruption.
